Tigers will enjoy farm-fresh food as part of a new lunch program celebrating locally grown produce

FarmFreshFridayLoveland, Ohio – The Loveland Early Childhood Center (LECC), Loveland Primary School (LPS), and Loveland Elementary School (LES) are now part of a Farm Fresh cafeteria program that will take place each Friday at lunch.

“Farm Fresh Fridays allow us to serve fresh vegetables from Granny’s Garden once a week,” said Kris Tracy, district food service coordinator. “We will incorporate fresh tomatoes, pepper and roasted potatoes each Friday in addition to our daily menu for the remainder of October.”

LECC, LPS and LES students also celebrated The Great Lakes Great Apple Crunch Day Thursday, Oct. 22, with other schools in Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Illinois, Wisconsin and Minnesota – consecutively offering local apples in the cafeteria.

“We are always looking for ways to partner with our local farmers and increase our fresh offerings to students,” said Tracy. “These two programs presented a perfect opportunity to make this happen.”
