LHS celebrates multiple accolades for student-produced newspaper The Roar

Loveland High School (LHS) has announced its student-produced newspaper The Roar has received International Second Place from Quill & Scroll Honorary Society for High School Journalists. In addition to the International award, The Roar also received an “exceptional” rating for coverage and a “distinguished” rating for writing and editing.

“We are tremendously proud of the journalism program offered by Loveland High School, and we congratulate the hardworking team that led our student paper to International success and recognition,” said LHS Principal Peggy Johnson.

“I am very proud of the students for their hard work and dedication to the staff,” said Rhonda Overbeeke, LHS journalism teacher.

Overbeeke noted that 2015 LHS graduates Willie Lutz and Halle Russo served as the editors for the award-winning newspaper. Lutz was the sports editor for Loveland Magazine and is now studying at the at Ohio University E. W. Scripps School of Journalism.
