As you spring clean keep these electronics recycling events in mind!

The Loveland High School (LHS) Environmental Science Program is promoting three recycling events this spring. They need your help to make the grade. As you are spring cleaning, keep an eye out for both general tano-ad-10-15electronics (anything with a plug), cell phones (old, or broken) and clothes, shoes and household items. The recycling drives are student-initiated, student-run and designed. Students want to educate the community about the importance of recycling and reusing all appropriate materials – not just paper and plastic.

General Electronics Recycling Event: April 18 – April 23

LHS students are working with Cohen Brothers to host an electronics recycling event at LHS and Loveland Middle School (LMS) during normal school hours Monday, April 18 – Friday, April 22, and from 12 p.m. until 3 p.m. Saturday, April 23. This event is open to all community members with old electronics to recycle, and that includes anything with a cord (hair dryers, drills, blenders).

Cincinnati Zoo Go Bananas! Challenge: April 14 – April 28

Two LHS students are participating in the Cincinnati Zoo’s Go Bananas! Challenge to recycle cell phones for a cash prize. By donating old, broken or unused phones through this drive, you can not only help the students potentially win the grand prize, but also – in partnership with Cincinnati Zoo – reduce the destruction of silver back gorilla habitats. Click here to learn more about this cause directly from the Cincinnati Zoo website. If you’d like to participate drop off your cell phone donations to any school in the district and look for collection boxes in the main lobbies.

Matthew 25 Ministries Product Drive: April 18 – April 23

A group of LHS students in Honors Environmental Science are organizing a donations drive for school supplies, used clothing and shoes, non-perishable food items, household items (kitchen utensils, pots and pans, curtains or towels… however no furniture), and latex paint. By donating your unwanted items, you will not only de-clutter your home, you will also help people all over the world who are in desperate need of those items. It will be taking place during normal school hours Monday, April 18, to Friday, April 22, as well as 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 23. This drive is open to donations from the entire community, and participants are encouraged to drop off their items at LHS and LMS throughout the week.
