Loveland Robotics competes against rival schools
With the new game comes new robots, new parts and equipment, and new expenses. The Loveland Robotics teams are hosting their annual fundraising dinner on Friday, November 10 from 6:00-8:30pm. This year’s dinner will feature spaghetti with choice of meat (meatballs, chicken, or sausage), sauce (marinara and alfredo), and vegetables (broccoli or peppers and onions) along with salad, bread, and dessert. The dinner will be held at American Legion Post 256, 897 Oakland Rd, Loveland, OH 45140. An $8.00 donation is encouraged. Proceeds help the teams register for competition, buy parts, and attend workshops.
High School Robotics teams are back at work after the summer off season. Both 12 student teams have begun building, programming, and designing after the release of the new game, Relic Recovery. Last year, the teams found success– Team 10464 competed in the State Tournament for the second straight year, and Team 5040 traveling to the World Championship marking the first time in Loveland history a team has competed on the world level. With the new season quickly approaching, both teams are hard at work hoping to achieve the same and higher levels of success.
This year’s game, Relic Recovery, features 6x6x6 inch cubes called glyphs which teams will need to place in a designated area called the cryptobox. Points will be earned not only for placing individual glyphs, but also for making rows, columns, and special pictures. In the last thirty seconds, the teams are able to extend over the wall to place a plastic yellow man, known as the relic, in a special scoring zone earning more points the further out you can go. This game features some elements never before seen in competition.
