Dear Loveland Magazine Readers,

Out of an abundance of caution and respect, Loveland Magazine is offering no more reporting on the death of Loveland resident, and Cincinnati police officer, Sonny Kim.

It seems rather obvious to us that the family has requested privacy.

We are not even sure where the “call” to line streets with supporters has come from, and may in fact have come from rumors or other media creating a media event for themselves to report on. We have contacted the funeral home handling things for the family and they tell us: “This is NOT open to the media via cameras or video cameras.  Cincinnati Police will be monitoring this very closely.”

The family has not reached out to us requesting publicity, and apparently that is the case with all other media as well.

We will do nothing further without the family’s expressed and proactive request. And, we will not reach out to the family during this time of requested privacy.

  1. The funeral in open to the public….The Kim family knows this….The Kim absolutely is in support of all of this….The only that the Kim family has asked is that no camera’s or videos be in the Cintas center….And why would you hear from the family? This magazine is a joke…I hope that everyone will come out and support the family….Wear blue as asked by Mayor Cranley.

  2. EDITOR’S NOTE: What the FOP union wants and what the family may want may be different. We have not heard from the family, but have contacted the funeral home that is making arrangements for the family.

  3. I think its a shame that our local magazine wont cover this funeral…..Of course they don’t want you knocking on their door….But they want and need our support in this terrible time.

  4. Mr Miller…I just left a voicemail for you….I contacted the FOP and they absolutely DO WANT PEOPLE TO LINE THE STREETS ON MONTGOMERY ROAD……They are asking that everyone wear blue and show their support for the Kim family….I hope that this article does not discourage people from showing respect for officer Kim and his family.
