The Ohio Council of Teachers of English Language Arts (OCTELA) recognized Loveland Elementary School (LES) Gifted Teacher Heidi Weber Saturday, Feb. 28, in Columbus, as the Outstanding English Language Arts Teacher of Special Distinction. Weber was presented the award after being nominated and going through a selection process that required her to present a portfolio and three letters of recommendation that came from a former student, fellow teacher and LES Principal Jennifer Forren.

“I feel blessed to not only do something I am passionate about everyday but to do it with people who support and appreciate it,” said Weber. “I was sincerely touched by what was written in those letters of recommendation; it made the award all the more special to me.”

Event organizers called Weber’s portfolio “wonderful” and made special note of her ability to integrate technology into her classroom to enhance the educational experience of her students.

“Heidi is a superstar,” said Forren. “We are thrilled she has been recognized for her tireless and tremendous efforts to create a wonderful educational environment and experience for our students. We love Heidi, and we congratulate her on receiving this prestigious award.”
