Join us for a special ribbon-cutting ceremony featuring esteemed state and local leaders. Celebrate the historic housewarming of the Harriet Beecher Stowe House with inspiring speeches and a tour of this significant landmark. The house will be open after the ceremony until 4pm.

Families Unite: Free Kids Concert

Join us for a day of family-friendly events fostering a shared historical experience at the historic Beecher family home and Edgemont Inn. The house will be open from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM.

Performances & Activities:

  • 11am – “Summer of Song” Concert with Linton Peanut Butter & Jam: 11:00 AM
  • 12pm – Face Painting: 12:00 PM – 2:00 PM
  • 1pm – Storytime and Book Signings with Author Kristy High: 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
  • Craft stations, sno cones, popcorn, and under the big tent, and Cincinnati Black History Coloring Books from Urbanist Media available while supplies last under the big tent.

Artist Unite: Artmaking, Black Art Speaks presentation, and Open Mic Poetry

Local visual, musical, and spoken word artists will gather to experience the new 2-era restoration and create their own art in response. The house will be open from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Come and immerse yourself in a creative atmosphere where artists unite to celebrate and create. Enjoy tours, presentations, and performances in this unique historical setting.

  • Presentation of Commissioned Work by Black Art Speaks Artists Deja Fletcher and Ke’Monte Figgs

About the Harriet Beecher Stowe House


The nonprofit Friends of Harriet Beecher Stowe House manages a Cincinnati home where Harriet Beecher Stowe lived during the formative years that led her to write the best-selling novel Uncle Tom’s Cabin. The house has a second historic marker and restored section as the Edgemont Inn, one of the few remaining Ohio locations safe for travelers of color in the early 1900s and listed in The Negro Motorist Green Book. This historic site is part of the Ohio History Connection’s network of more than 50 sites and museums across Ohio.
