    Loveland, Ohio – The flowers are in bloom, the temperatures are rising, the Loveland Bike Trail is flourishing with families enjoying Nisbet Park and the Little Miami River…so that means it’s time for another rendition of the Loveland Summer Salad!

    Loveland, Ohio – In my newest Table of Discussions I decided to leave the LOVELAND MAGAZINE TV studio and head down the road to take a tour of the Loveland Learning Garden! My garden tour hosts Laurie Flanagan, Board President of the Loveland Learning Garden, Lori Bregger, and Jill Simmons, who are both Ohio State certified master gardeners, Loveland Learning Garden volunteers, and nature educators who teach lessons during the fall and spring to Loveland Primary and Elementary students, not only showed me the garden, but also explained why the garden is so vital to our community’s youth!

    The mission of the Loveland Learning Garden is to foster lifelong connections to the wonders of the natural world. The garden gives children the opportunity to immerse themselves in the outdoors from an early age so that they can experience the lasting impact of a positive impression of nature.

    The Loveland Learning Garden serves Loveland Primary School (1st-2nd grade) and Loveland Elementary School (3rd-4th grade) students. Just this Spring, the garden had 36 Loveland teachers participate!

    The Loveland Learning Garden features both vegetable and flower gardens as well as a nature trail on school grounds so that students can get outdoor hands-on learning. Students that visit the Loveland Learning Garden can engage with nature’s elements (plants, animals, land, air) through observation and fun. In addition to the outdoor hands-on experience, interactive learning activities are utilized in order to explore a plethora of academic subjects! One of the best parts about the garden is that children get the opportunity to see how food is grown and get to taste fresh produce all while serving the community by harvesting food to donate to the LIFE Food Pantry. In 2020, during the pandemic, the Loveland Learning Garden donated over 1,200 pounds of fresh produce to the LIFE Food Pantry!

    The Loveland Learning Garden education program is incorporated into the class curriculum. Students come out to the garden or nature trail where Garden Educators, who are recruited and funded by the nonprofit, deliver the lesson plan, and guide the learning. The learning materials developed by the program are offered for others to use in their own nature education programs and can be adapted for at-home activities. Lesson plans are created and maintained by the nonprofit, and many are made available on their website (titles include Planting a Salad, How Do Earthworms Live, Soil Properties, Living Things in Compost, Animals in Garden Habitat, Decomposing Log Study, How Weather Affects Nature).

    In 2022, the Loveland Learning Garden launched their first afterschool program called “Outdoor Adventures,” which is run through Loveland Elementary and Primary school’s Parent and Teacher Associations. The program not only allowed the garden to expand its message but also introduced new summer events to children.

    This past Summer, the Loveland Learning Garden board held free summer events, such as “Storytime in the Garden,” which was led by the Loveland Library, and “Family Harvest,” which gave children a chance to pick vegetables and make a delivery to the LIFE Food Pantry. Children that visited the garden over the Summer also got the chance to learn about composting from Hamilton County Rc3 Source outreach.

    The Learning Garden also placed a huge focus on the community over the Summer by hosting education booths at the Loveland Farmer’s Market and boy and girl scout meetings in the garden setting.

    Today, the Loveland Learning Garden “operates with strong, collaborative school partnerships, diverse leadership, community involvement, and a continued passion to educate and inspire children to the lifelong benefits found through nature.”

    The Loveland Learning Garden according to Board President, Laurie Flanagan, has so many things in store for the future and can’t wait to continue impacting students through nature!

Historic Downtown and Nisbet Park will be decked with leather shorts with H-shaped suspenders, traditionally worn by men in Alpine regions such as Bavaria. Women will be getting their Dirndl dress on. (Read how to dress like a Munich local) 

    There will be keg and foot tapping all along the Loveland Bike Trail where you’ll find German food specially prepared for the weekend and music and dancing.

    Loveland’s First Road to Health and Wellness Expo was a hit!

    Loveland, Ohio – What goes better with the Loveland Bike Trail than health and wellness? Your requests were finally answered as the Little Miami River Chamber Alliance (LMRCA) hosted the inaugural “Road to Health and Wellness” Expo in Downtown Loveland’s Nisbet Park on Saturday, July 30!

    Over the past couple of years, Downtown Loveland has become the go-to spot for entertainment, exercise, and food culture. The Little Miami Bike Trail, which is the longest bike trail in the Miami Valley stretching out to 78 miles, has become the focal point of Loveland for bike riders, running enthusiasts, and families. The historical bike trail has been consistently encouraging people to travel miles just to experience the Loveland culture for themselves so CeeCee Collins, President of the LMRCA, and Meredith Taylor, Program Director of the LMRCA, decided that they needed to organize an event right off the Loveland bike trail for those that enjoy health, wellness, and fitness!

    The “Road to Health and Wellness” Expo brought in mental, physical, and financial health professionals and enthusiasts to communicate to the community the benefits of living a life balanced with health and wellness. The event included swag bags, health and wellness interactive booths, music, the Acai “BOL” Bar, “breakout session” speakers, FREE fitness classes taught by community experts, kids’ activities, and much more!

    “We have a beautiful setting in the heart of Loveland for this event and hoped the community would come out and learn something new and take advantage of the great resources we have right in our own backyard,” LMRCA Program Director MeredithTaylor said.

    I was honored to be involved in planning the first-ever “Road to Health and Wellness” Expo! In addition to volunteering at the registration booth during the event, I got the opportunity to share my Kickboxing expertise with those in the community by offering a free Kickboxing 101 class in the amphitheater in Nisbet Park. The class went so well that David Miller and I thought that it would be the perfect time to film a Kickboxing workout for those who would like to get their sweat on virtually!     Loveland, Ohio – What goes better with the Loveland Bike Trail than health and wellness? Your requests have finally been answered as the Little Miami River Chamber Alliance (LMRCA) is hosting the first “Road to Health” Expo in Downtown Loveland’s Nisbet Park!

    “Loveland by nature lends itself to health and wellness; the beautiful parks, flowing river, and overall landscaping offer opportunity to exercise and live a better life,” Collins said. “When we combine the natural landscaping with an array of health, wellness, and recreational businesses in the area, we felt that it made sense to showcase and offer to our community.”

    The “Road to Health” Health and Wellness Expo will be held on July 30th from 10 AM until 2 PM in Nisbet Park off the Loveland Bike Trail. The event will bring in Mental, Physical, and Financial health professionals and enthusiasts to communicate to the community the benefits of living a life balanced with health and wellness. The event will include swag bags for those who register, health and wellness booths, live entertainment, food trucks, “breakout session” speakers, kids’ activities, and much more!

    “We are so excited to bring this expo to our area to highlight many aspects of health–not just physical, but mental, financial, nutritional, senior care, and more,” Taylor said. “Every time we’ve mentioned this expo to our chamber members, we have received such positive feedback. We have a beautiful setting in the heart of Loveland for this event and hope the community can come out and learn something new and take advantage of the great resources we have right in our own backyard.”

    Over the past couple of years, Downtown Loveland has become the go-to spot for entertainment, exercise, and food culture. The Little Miami Bike Trail, which is the longest bike trail in the Miami Valley stretching out to 78 miles, has become the focal point of Loveland for bike riders, running enthusiasts, and families. The historical bike trail has been consistently encouraging people to travel miles just to experience the trail for themselves so both CeeCee Collins, President of the LMRCA, and Meredith Taylor, Program Director of the LMRCA, decided that they needed to organize an event for those that enjoy health, wellness, and the bike trail!

    “Loveland by nature lends itself to health and wellness; the beautiful parks, flowing river, and overall landscaping offer opportunity to exercise and live a better life,” Collins said. “When we combine the natural landscaping with an array of health, wellness, and recreational businesses in the area, we felt that it made sense to showcase and offer to our community.”

    The “Road to Health” Health and Wellness Expo will be held on July 30th from 10 AM until 2 PM in Nisbet Park off the Loveland Bike Trail. The event will bring in Mental, Physical, and Financial health professionals and enthusiasts to communicate to the community the benefits of living a life balanced with health and wellness. The event will include swag bags for those who register, health and wellness booths, live entertainment, food trucks, “breakout session” speakers, kids’ activities, and much more!

    “We are so excited to bring this expo to our area to highlight many aspects of health–not just physical, but mental, financial, nutritional, senior care, and more,” Taylor said. “Every time we’ve mentioned this expo to our chamber members, we have received such positive feedback. We have a beautiful setting in the heart of Loveland for this event and hope the community can come out and learn something new and take advantage of the great resources we have right in our own backyard.”

    The LMRCA would like to invite communities throughout Cincinnati along with health and wellness professionals to not only attend the inaugural “Road to Health” Expo but to sign up to be a vendor, offer sponsorship for the event, or volunteer to help.     Loveland Youth Volleyball collecting for LIFE Food Pantry

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland Youth Volleyball Organization will be sponsoring a food drive to benefit the Life Food Pantry this Saturday, May 7th, at the Loveland Elementary School gym. They will have games there from 9 AM until 3 PM and will have a table set up to collect donations.

    “Please consider dropping off any nonperishable food items that you may have. We do this to not only help LIFE but to help teach our players about volunteering and helping others.”

    The community is invited to come to this convenient location to add to the collection of the players.

    The following items are ones that LIFE has a more urgent need for.

    Beef stew, canned carrots, ketchup, canned chili, coffee, cooking oil, Manwich, mashed potatoes, pasta, peanut butter, canned pineapple, salad dressing, spaghetti, spaghetti sauce, Stove Top Stuffing, paper towels, Kleenex, deodorant, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash.

    Loveland, Ohio – Spring has sprung which means the Easter Bunny will be paying Loveland a visit very soon! What better way to celebrate Easter than by giving back to those in need within the community. Join Loveland Magazine and the Little Miami River Chamber Alliance (LMRCA) for the Easter Weekend Food drive benefiting LIFE Food Pantry!

    Easter weekend, for me, is one of the most coveted times to make memories with my family as we come together to enjoy a nice home-cooked meal and exchange Easter baskets filled with goodies. This year, I wanted to make sure that families less fortunate had the opportunity to celebrate Easter like my family and myself have been lucky enough to do for the past several decades. I knew that Loveland’s local food pantry, LIFE, was in desperate need of food donations as this time of year is often a slower time for incoming donations. I had chatted back and forth with some of the wonderful women from LIFE a couple of months ago and promised them that I would find a way to organize a food drive. I searched my brain for those that would be interested in joining me to help make this food drive happen. That’s when I thought, “I should ask CeeCee Collins and Meredith Taylor from the LMRCA to help me make this food drive a reality!” I emailed CeeCee and Meredith and explained my vision and seconds later they were on board! I was overcome with joy!

    Over the past several weeks, Meredith, CeeCee, and I have worked hard to make this unbelievable Easter Weekend Food Drive the best it could possibly be, and needless to say, I couldn’t be happier with what we have in store for the Food Drive! Loveland Magazine, the LMRCA, and LIFE would love nothing more than all of those within our amazing community to come out on April 16th between 10 a.m-5 p.m and donate to the Easter Weekend Food Drive! 

    Here are some important Easter Weekend Food Drive details:

    • We will be stationed next to the historic clock tower in Downtown Loveland right along the Loveland Bike Trail. You will see our decked Easter-themed tent!
    • You may pull your vehicle into the “Carry-Out” Parking spots next to where we will have our tent and we can easily grab your donations straight from your vehicle! You won’t even have to leave your vehicle if you so choose!
    • Each week LIFE lists on their website homepage their current donation needs so before you stop by our Food Drive to donate check out their list here!
    • If you can’t make our Easter Weekend Food Drive or would just simply rather donate money to LIFE you can do so by scanning the QR code below, although we would love to see all of your smiling faces in person at the Food Drive!
    • There will also be another Easter Weekend Food Drive donation box at The Works Pizza so feel free to drop off donations there as well if you’re looking to grab a pizza on your way out!
    • Be sure to bring the kids as we will be handing out candy-filled Easter eggs!
