Miami Township, Ohio – Lieutenant Kevin Petrocelli will be retiring Friday from the Miami Township Police Department after 25 years. He will be taking the Assistant Chief of Police position at the University of Dayton.
The Miami Department said on FaceBook, “He’s had many contributions but the most important are the over 13,000 students he impacted at Milford Schools through the 5th grade DARE program.”
Petrocelli:
•Started as a full-time police officer on October 11, 1995 after serving with the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office for three years.
•He served on the Miami Township road patrol for seven years when he became the Traffic Safety Coordinator.
•2002-2014 Petrocelli was the DARE Officer at the Milford Schools where he impacted over 13,000 students. This year’s senior class was his last 5th grade DARE class. The students from his first DARE class are 28 years old now.
•During the time as the DARE Officer he assisted with the Recreation summer camps and Christmas Shop with a Cop (SWAC).
•July 2014 – Dec 2018 Petrocelli became a patrol division Sergeant. Even while assuming those duties he was helping Officer Skip Rasfeld with the DARE program and SWAC.
•January 2019 – September 2020 Petrocelli served as the Lieutenant of the Road Patrol. He is leaving for a new adventure, but he is leaving us in a good place.
