  • 18th Annual Christmas Toy Store coming soon: Donations now being accepted

18th Annual Christmas Toy Store coming soon: Donations now being accepted

We are confident that our community will once again pull together to help the children and the families in Loveland

    Dear Loveland Magazine Readers,

The Loveland Initiative is proud once again to host the 18th Annual Christmas Toy Store.  Christmas is a wonderful time of year, and should not be missed by any child. With our annual Toy Store, we make it a wonderful experience for under-served parents and their children.

The Toy Store was created to help families who could not afford to spend much on toys and gifts.  Purchasing toys and gifts at a discount helps parents feel that they are contributing to their child’s Christmas while enabling the parents to choose items based on their child’s interests and needs.

We are committed to using the money raised by the Toy Store for the betterment of children and families in Loveland.  Since 2001, the money raised has been used for the Tracy L Johnson Scholarship Fund which assists a student to further his or her education, and other programming needs.  We are very proud that seventeen college scholarships have been awarded. We feel that one of the ways to empower people is through education and this is the way to break the cycle of poverty.  Without you, we cannot offer help to these children.

[quote_left]Approximately 250+ children from under-served families in the Loveland area receive gifts via our Toy Store.[/quote_left]Approximately 250+ children from under-served families in the Loveland area receive gifts via our Toy Store.  Each family will sign up, pre-register and financially qualify. They are then offered the opportunity to shop for 7-10 gifts per child in their family, based on the number of donations received.  Parents/Grandparents come into a store setting (set up by volunteers) with tables marked by price to purchase items for $0.50 to $5 per gift.

The 18th Annual Christmas Toy Store will be held at the Loveland Moose Lodge, 227 E. Loveland Ave.  The date for the event is December 18.  We will be accepting donations of NEW UNWRAPPED toys and gifts for children, preteens and teens. (See attached suggested gift list). Gift cards and monetary donations are also greatly appreciated.

Please drop off donations at Bond Furniture 113 Karl Brown Way or 405 Loveland-Madeira Rd. November 1, through December 15.

The hours for drop off at 405 Loveland Madeira are Monday and Thursday 5:30-7:30 PM.

You may also drop off items at any of the Loveland School District buildings. We can also make arrangements to pick up gifts.

In addition to gifts, we always need volunteers for pick-up, displays and transportation.

We are confident that our community will once again pull together to help the children and the families in Loveland.  Please feel free to call Project Leaders Mary Hensley 513-697-6694 or Shionee Blust e-mail johnshionee@gmail.com or the Executive Director Terri Rogers 513-739-2354/ trogers7@fuse.net with any questions or concerns.  Thank you in advance for your help!

    Sincerely,

    The Loveland Initiative

Loveland Tiger Soccer: post-game video, awards, interview, and and highlight reel

Here is our post-game report from our road-trip to the finals of the State Div I Soccer Tournament for the Loveland Tigers on Friday, November 13. The Tigers finished runners-up with a defeat by Walsh Jesuit, 1-0.

These still photos were shot shot for Loveland Magazine by David Burig. Click on the photos to see a larger view.

Scroll down to watch the LOVELAND MAGAZINE TV video highlights from the match. The other is the post-game awards ceremony and an interview with Loveland head coach, Todd Kelly.

Loveland High School Athletic Director Julie Renner sent these comments about the game via an e-mail:

The support at the DI Girls Soccer State Finals Game was wonderful and we can’t thank everyone enough for the Support and Love.  At the awards ceremony after the game, the Ohio High School Athletic Association even commented on Tiger Nation and the support of the Loveland Community!

Congratulations to our Girls Soccer Team for such a successful season!  We are all extremely proud. The support by the community as well as the girls’ families was tremendous and heart-warming.

After the game, Kelly also thanked the Loveland community which turned out thousands of fans, perhaps triple the number of Walsh fans. Loveland took ten “spirit buses to the game in Columbus at MAPFRE Stadium, home to the Columbus Crew. Kelly said, “We played hard and we played like we wanted to win, but I’m disappointed for my kids. They played their hearts out.”

  • Branch Hill-Loveland Road is open to avoid long detour

Branch Hill-Loveland Road is open to avoid long detour

    [vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]

    Short-cut into Loveland is open

Branch Hill, Ohio – After looking closely at the map of the construction detour, reader Jeff Schamel asked, “What is not clear from any of this – Is Branch Hill-Guinea open to Branch Hill-Loveland, coming from Wards Corner? (i.e. can we go down the hill and turn right on Branch Hill-Loveland to go to downtown Loveland and/or turn right onto Branch Hill-Guinea from Branch Hill-Loveland?”

Jeremy Evans, with the Clermont County Engineer’s Office answered, “The answer is yes, you can go down the hill and turn right on Branch Hill-Loveland or from Branch Hill-Loveland, left onto Branch Hill-Guinea.”

The closure is to replace a 48” culvert that crosses the road just south of the Branch Hill-Guinea/Branch Hill-Loveland intersection

This is the map of the construction that has closed Branch Hill-Guinea Pike this week. The road is expected to be open Friday, November 20. Notes have now been added by Loveland Magazine that point to the short-cut into Loveland.

Branch Hill-Loveland Road becomes Hanna Avenue once you reach the corporation limits of the City of Loveland. (Also see map of Loveland below)
