Lighting accounts for about 10 percent of the average home’s electric bill
COLUMBUS, OHIO – The Public Utilities Commission of Ohio (PUCO) wants you to remember the following light bulb facts when shopping for your home or office.
Consumers have multiple choices to reduce lighting costs by using bulbs that are just as bright but require less than one-third the amount of electricity. Compact fluorescent (CFL) and light-emitting diode (LED) bulbs are available energy efficient lighting options.
CFL bulbs use about 70 percent less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs and can last up to 10 times as long.
CFL bulbs work best when the light is turned on for at least 15 minutes. Frequently switching on and off a CFL shortens the bulb’s lifetime.
Because CFL bulbs contain a small amount of mercury, consumers should take special care to dispose of them properly.
LED bulbs are the most energy efficient bulbs available and use up to 80 percent less energy than traditional incandescent bulbs.
LED bulbs do not burn out or fail, instead, the light created decreases over time.
Use ENERGYSTAR® qualified light bulbs where possible for durability, color quality and light output.

The Dero Bicycle Service Station includes all the tools necessary to perform basic bike repairs and maintenance, from changing a flat to adjusting brakes and derailleurs. The tools and air pump are securely attached to the stand with stainless steel cables and tamper-proof fasteners. Hanging the bike from the hanger arms allows the pedals and wheels to spin freely while making adjustments.
Loveland, Ohio – A Dero Bicycle Service Station has been installed along the Loveland Bike Trail in Nisbet Park. The Wyoming Ohio Cycling Foundation donated the Service Station to the City.
Dero service stations provide a bike mount where cyclists can change tires, fix chains, and perform tune-ups with an attached tool kit.
Ralph Dehner from Fairfield often comes to Loveland to ride the Loveland Bike Trail. He was rather impressed with the wide choice of hand tools at the new bike service station located near the restrooms in Nisbet Park.

Concert in Wilmington, OH October 9th to Benefit Wounded War Veterans
Jared Ashley
Rising Star Jared Ashley has enlisted the help of chart topper John Michael Montgomery to entertain fans and troops alike at Operation Cherrybend (presented by R&L Carriers) in Wilmington, Ohio this weekend. Ashley and the “I Swear” and “Letters From Home” singer will take the stage Friday night at The Murphy Theater, with proceeds going to Flight Deck Veterans Group, a national fraternal non-profit organization started by Jared Ashley to benefit wounded war veterans and promote the camaraderie between U.S. Military Flight Deck veterans.
The mission of Operation Cherrybend is to thank veterans for their courage, selflessness and sacrifice to our country. “The more we educate the general public about the trials and ongoing challenges of wounded veterans, and veterans in general, the better understanding the public will have in order to meet their needs,” explains Beth Ellis, co-owner of Cherrybend. Twenty-two American veterans commit suicide daily, which Ashley hopes to bring awareness to and help change.
Before breaking out in the music scene with his debut single “Last Train to Memphis,” singer-songwriter Ashley served four years in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Independence and USS Kitty Hawk aircraft carriers in the Persian Gulf. Born in Hobbs, New Mexico, near the oil fields of the West Texas border, Jared Ashley relocated to Newnan, Georgia with his dad as a small child. He received his first guitar at the age of five but didn’t start honing his musical skills until his sophomore year. When not on duty, he would practice guitar while away at sea and play acoustic gigs at George’s Country Bar in Yokosuka, Japan. Jared’s genuine love of music and songwriting led him to Nashville’s thriving scene where he landed a regular weekend gig onstage at the world famous Tootsie’s Orchid Lounge. With time and patience, Jared developed a loyal touring and fan base, which gave him the chance to further hone his songwriting and live performance talents.
The singer-songwriter counts Alan Jackson and Bob Seger as strong musical influences, which proves evident on his melodically haunting music. With a driving edgy vocal and lyric prowess to match, Jared is a seasoned live act, playing over 180 dates a year. “If we can’t muster the courage or consensus to change our underlying policies on firearms or mental health care, at least we can assemble teams of skilled people in our communities and try to stop this awful menace, case by case.”
