Loveland continued their annual homecoming festivities this week with the 2016 homecoming game. The city came together as neighbor, friends. teachers, coworkers and a community. Hotdogs were eaten, music was played, homecoming king and queen were awarded and Loveland and Withrow competed neck-in-neck, and ultimately won. (See Game Stats Below)
Loveland welcomes fans
The 2016 Loveland homecoming game began with an overcast community tailgate and cookout. As pre-game festivities began to wrap up, the football game against Withrow was postponed and the field evacuated due to lightning. However, it would take more than that to dampen the enthusiasm the two schools brought.

In the gymnasium, the Loveland community joined with Withrow to watch Loveland’s homecoming hotdog eating contest. After a nail-biting few minutes, the winner of the 2016 contest was senior Mitch Suder.

As the game continued to be delayed, cheerleading teams and fans mingled and danced, refusing to be swayed by the inclement weather.

Loveland came together, with hundreds of enthusiastic attendees. At the end of the first quarter, the game was still 0-0. Withrow scored the first touchdown, but by halftime the score was 7-6 with Loveland leading.

Loveland narrowly defeated Withrow 21-19. Hundreds of Lovelanders came together as a single, supportive community and made the night truly special.
