Dear Loveland Magazine Readers,

After four years of unimaginably hard work, mental health reform has finally passed the House and Senate and can now be signed into law!

We never could have passed this lifesaving legislation without you – without the thousands of messages and calls to Congress and the endless support and hope this community provided us. This victory is so important to preventing gun violence and getting mental health and wellness care to those who need it, Kris, and I hope you’ll help spread the news on Facebook.

Every second of every day since December 14, 2012, I have felt the pain of my sweet little Daniel’s murder, knowing that he might still be here today had the shooter’s mental health issues been identified and treated. I’ve brought Daniel’s photo with me as I shared my story with countless members of Congress.

But now, we can take a critical step forward in fixing our broken mental health care system – and thousands of people with mental health issues can receive the treatment they need. There’s no one solution to prevent gun violence, and we have more work to do ahead, but I know mental health reform will save lives.

Please, will you take a moment to share this incredible news with your friends and family on Facebook? In honor of my sweet little Daniel, I want our powerful message of a safer future for all children to be heard in every corner of the country:

It’s your support that helps me honor Daniel’s life and makes a real difference in our work to prevent gun violence.

Thank you,

Mark Barden (Daniel’s father)
