Symmes Township, Ohio – Symmes Township is 200 years old and they will be celebrating the occasion with several events throughout the year “designed to bring together residents, businesses and visitors to commemorate two centuries of shared heritage.”
The events include:

- American Heritage Day – Sat. June 22/Noon – 4:00pm in Camp Dennison

- Symmes Heritage Festival – Sat. Aug. 24/11:00am – 2:00pm at the Meade Historic Preserve
- Ice Cream Social & Movie Night – Sat. Sept. 14/7:00-10:00pm at Hopewell Meadows Park

The Township was formed in 1824 from the eastern portion of Sycamore Township. It bears the name of John Cleves Symmes, who in 1788, made the “Miami Purchase” which also led to the founding of Cincinnati.
