In response to Loveland Magazine’s request yesterday* for emergency planning information in regard to a possible local coronavirus outbreak the School District issued this statement this afternoon:

Unified Local Efforts to Monitor Coronavirus Situation

The City of Loveland, the Loveland City School District and the Loveland-Symmes Fire Department continue to monitor the coronavirus abroad and in some areas of our nation. Like any other possible danger to the health, safety and welfare of our community, we work closely with our community partners, including, but not limited to our private schools, businesses and faith-based community. Our Fire, EMS personnel and law enforcement community, along with our 911 operators, are on the forefront of any planning and response and remain vigilant in sharing data.

This collaboration is ongoing and has been in place for many years. Our Fire, EMS, Police and school systems have in place plans to respond to and mitigate emergencies and dangers to our community on many fronts. These efforts begin in the planning stages by creating response systems that are resilient, tested, practiced and continually reviewed. We meet regularly with our school administrations and our business community to identify risk and to establish policy to manage risk before an event occurs.

The City of Loveland and Loveland City Schools have in place an emergency operation plan that aligns with the plan created for our county and our state governments. The plan has had the input of all our partners in public safety.

We will continue to monitor the current situation with the coronavirus. We will stay connected with our local and state health partners along with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and will share this information on various local web sites and social media as the situation warrants. Although no cases have been reported in the State of Ohio, local residents are urged to stay informed and monitor reliable media sources for additional information and precautions.
