Loveland, Ohio – The City had scheduled a Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) event for Saint Patrick’s Day in Historic Downtown Loveland on March 17. The DORA has been canceled.
In a Press Release that preceded Governor Mike Dewine’s order banning “Mass gatherings of 100 or more“* the City said, “Due to the fact that March 17 coincides with the Primary Election, coupled with other concerns, the City of Loveland has decided to cancel the March 17 Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) event.”
The release noted that the cancelation of the DORA does not cancel activities or promotions being offered by local businesses at their establishments. The release said, “Canceling the DORA means that patrons will not be able to take a beverage from an establishment and walk around downtown.”
City Hall will remain open as a polling location for the Primary Election on March 17.
Loveland’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA) went into effect on April 11, 2019. In this area, you are able to purchase alcoholic beverages from a qualified liquor permit holder within the DORA boundaries and walk around outside with your drink.
* Mass gatherings are defined (by the Ohio Department of Health Order) as any event or convening that brings together 100 or more persons in a single room or single space at the same time such as an auditorium, stadium, arena, large conference room, meeting hall, theater, or any other confined indoor or outdoor space. This would include parades, fairs, and festivals.
