Intent is to resume work when asphalt plants begin opening – “Typically in early April.”
Branch Hill, Ohio – The contractor doing the on-going drainage improvements and restoration work on Branch Hill-Guinea Pike tells Loveland Magazine he believes he has 34 days left to complete the project. Don Smith said, “We have a total of 55 days of road closure, and I believe we have used 21 days, leaving 34 days to complete our work.” The contract for the work allows Clermont County to penalize the contractor if the closure is longer than 55 days. Smith & Brown Contractors, Inc., is the general contractor for the project.

He said, “The asphalt plants typically begin opening in early April. Our intent is to begin work in the spring when weather permits and the asphalt plants are open. Because we cannot predict the weather, we cannot say if it will take less than the 34 days. To the extent we have control, it will be our intent to finish the project in the time allotted.”
Smith was also asked if the road closure would begin before Loveland Schools are out of session for the Summer. He replied, “In the event work begins while school is still in, we will accommodate school buses, emergency vehicles and local residents. The final decision on when we begin work rests with the County.
