Loveland, Ohio – Through the efforts of resident Amy Van Strien the City will submit a grant application to improve recycling efforts in downtown.
The grant request is to the Ohio EPA and includes:
- Special Event Recycling Bins: These event bins which include clear plastic bags will be placed out during events to encourage attendees to recycle cups, plastics and other recyclables. The design of the bins is simple and compact for easy storage by the city after events.
- Flexible Apartment Bins: These small portable totes (6 gallons size) will be provided to residents in Loveland Station and the new The Trails at East Loveland apartments for seniors. This is proposed to allow residents to easily transport their recycling materials to the onsite recycling dumpsters. The bins will include the cityâs logo and website. This portion of the grant application is envisioned as a pilot project if successfully funded. The use of the apartment bins will be gauged and potentially expanded to other multiple family developments within the city.
- Water Refill Station: Water Refill Stations allow people to easily refill their personal waterbottles. The refill station is proposed to be installed at the Nisbet Park restrooms making it accessible to both Bike Trail and Nisbet Park users. The refill station installation will be conducted by Public Works.
The total grant application amount is $6,034 requiring a local match of $3,017 (50%) on behalf of the city.
