The surge in construction and public works projects across the region has created a demand for heavy equipment operators. To meet that demand, Great Oaks Career Campuses will begin offering Heavy Equipment Operations and Engineering training for adults at the Live Oaks campus in Milford.
“Being able to operate large machines with precision takes both physical coordination and mathematical skill,” said Great Oaks Adult Education Director Carol Gittinger. “This work creates the foundation for roads, buildings, parks, schools–nearly every project is shaped by a skilled heavy equipment operator.”
The program will run Monday-Thursday from 4:30 to 10:30 PM, from August through June.
An informational meeting will be held at the Live Oaks campus at 5956 Buckwheat Road in Milford on Thursday, March 26 at 7 PM.
Industry representatives and school officials will answer questions, and visitors will be able to see a demonstration of the program in action. Heavy
Equipment Operations and Engineering is also available for high school juniors in the region, and openings are still available for Fall 2015 in the high school program.
