See if Granny has a use for it.
Granny’s Garden School is a major recycler of “stuff”.
- In the gardens – we recycle hundreds of kitty litter buckets to to haul compost and woodchips.
- Wagons, wheel barrels, shovels, tomato cages: it’s ok if they are worn and rusty as long s they work.
- Midsize, plastic storage bins (with lids) are always welcome as are adult scissors, decorative, ceramic flower pots and metal yard art.
- Washcloths, garden trowels, zip ties.
Two of the most popular activities at our annual Harvest Celebration (Oct. 4th, 1-5 p.m.) are based on recycling things people often throw away.
- The Take-Apart-Table – Is where kids learn how things are made by taking them apart. A great use for old, small appliances.
- Toasters, vacuums, laptops, computer towers, coffee makers, mixers, blenders, hair dryers, cameras, phones, etc. (no microwaves).
- We also need safety glasses, pliers, wrenches, straight and Phillips head screw drivers.
At “Glue Fest” we provide all kinds of natural and recycled man made materials. Add low-temp glue guns and invite the kids to create to their heart’s content.
Think outside the box – we accept just about anything that can be glued on or glued on to
- Small pieces of wood, stones, shells, interesting looking “stuff”, toy pieces from the bottom of the toy box, game pieces,
- Left over craft supplies, feathers, beads, old/broken jewelry, silk flowers, plastic eyes, acorns, pine cones, small figurines, tile.
