Demand Outpaces Donations
Hoxworth Blood Center, University of Cincinnati officials said there is an immediate need for blood donors of all types and a critical need for Type O Negative donors. Hoxworth officials said a sharp drop in the local blood inventory is due to sluggish donations that have worsened due to illness and inclement weather.
Donors are needed to maintain a readily available blood supply at 30-area hospitals. Presently, the blood supply is below optimum levels among four key blood types.
