Her list of questions concerning the farmer’s market is disingenuous at best.
by James McKenna,
Dear Loveland Magazine Readers,
I’m very disappointed by Pam Gross’s recent letter to the editor in Loveland Magazine. (Councilwoman Pam Gross has questions for Loveland Farmers’ Market)
[quote_left]Loveland citizen and taxpayers, of which I am one, deserve from our council thoughtful, proactive policy. Instead we get a confused, reactive, and pointless focus on a volunteer effort at community service.[/quote_left]Her list of questions concerning the farmer’s market is disingenuous at best. She makes it sound as though Donna slipped something by the city, which seems unlikely. Furthermore, she expresses her faith in Mr. Kennedy’s handling of the matter, then goes on to undercut him with a long series of questions and statements published as if she were a private citizen.
If her questions are legitimate, she should have pursued them years ago. If they’re official business, they have no place in a general forum intended for ordinary citizens to air their thoughts and opinions.
A letter to the editor from a council member is indecorous and contributes to the misinformed free-for-all surrounding the market. If Ms. Gross doesn’t like the market, she should take action to bring it into alignment with city priorities or shut it down.

If Ms. Gross truly wants traffic to flow better, she and the rest of council should do something about it. Council has dithered on this for years, executing not even the simple, low-cost parking signage developed years ago, nor any of the serviceable, low-cost suggestions for channeling the flow of traffic more effectively. If Ms. Gross doesn’t like any of these solutions, she should come up with new ones and work with council to act on them. If she believes, as she states, that this is Mr. Kennedy’s domain, she should let the man do his job.
Ms. Gross and the rest of council need to cease jerking Donna’s market around and do something to solve real problems.
