Loveland, Ohio – The 2015 Homecoming game for the Loveland Tigers requiredĀ 2 nights, nearly 29 hours,Ā andĀ Lebanon quarterback Dakota AllenĀ lighting up the late night sky with an air attack of 345 yds. It lasted a few minutes shy of saying, “Hello” toĀ Sunday morning.
Friday’s scheduled start was postponed until Saturday because of continuing lightning strikes on the horizon. Then,Ā the Saturday game started briefly at 7 PM, but halted when the lightning detection system blared it’s horn. Officials kept an eye on the horizon for 2 hours, re-starting their 30-minute delay timer each time oneĀ saw a new bolt. Lebanon said they weren’t going home until the game was played, and officials said the rules allow a 3 AM or later re-start if that is what it took. The game did not start in earnest until 9:15 PM and lasted a few minutes shy ofĀ Sunday morning.
InĀ the end, it wasĀ Allen’sĀ lightening accurate strikes toĀ 5 receivers that defeated the Tigers, 50-21.
For the Tigers, Luke Waddell’s 186 rushing yardsĀ (and 51 receiving yds.)Ā an 38 yd. run byĀ Trevor Gajus, a 31 yd. run byĀ Ryan Bagnoli, a 21 yd. run byĀ Rudy Grant, a 81 yd. kick-off return byĀ Cameron BeckĀ was not enough to overcome 4 Tiger turnovers and 7 penalties of 71 yards.
