Asana, which means pose or posture, is the doorway that many of us have walked through in our path to live an inspired,Ā consciousĀ life.Ā Many of us have been witness to theĀ positiveĀ affects ofĀ this ancient practice and have gained first hand experience to its healing and mentally-calming powers.

Asana, which also means “seat” defines our inherent need “to sit” with our own inner world. It awakens in us a desire to return to our Essence, to return to Spirit. This doesn’t mean that we are to negate the physical form and accept only our spiritual Self. Rather, it means that in orderĀ to live fully, we are to groundĀ in our body, detachĀ fromĀ the ever-changing thought world, and clearly identify with ourĀ Spiritual Essence.

Postures are far more than an exercise orĀ stretching regimen. Asana is a response to our intrinsicĀ nature to look within, to investigate and discover our vast body, mind, and spirit. It is a prayer, a moving meditation, that opens us up like the warm sun opensĀ a beautifully surrenderedĀ lotus flower.

When you practice theses sacred postures, you are brought to the present moment. You are taught how to transcend time, suffering, and separation.Ā YouĀ awakenĀ toĀ your Highest Self and consciously connectĀ to the Whole. Through asana, you embarkĀ on the path of Self-discovery, Self-preservation, and Self-transformation.

Classic Sivananda Hatha Yoga

Sivananda Hatha Yoga, devised by Hatha Yoga masterĀ Swami Vishnudevananda from India, is a systematic approach to a balanced and meditativeĀ Hatha YogaĀ practice. The series begins with a short relaxation, basic pranayama, and sun salutations.

You will then be guided in through a series of 12 basic postures that energetically move fromĀ the crown to the root. ThisĀ asana practice allows for variations of all levels andĀ is practiced in silence, to encourage deeper focus and concentration.Ā The class concludes with final relaxation, a guided yoga nidra practice.Ā All experience levels welcome.

Philosophy Asana Class
This gentle and often restorativeĀ yoga classĀ is a devotional offering to your Highest Self, that infinite beam of Light which is said to beĀ your true nature. During this yoga philosophy-based asana class, Lila presents aĀ yogaĀ teachingĀ then beautifully weaves it through your asana practice, creating time and space for Self contemplation. This devotional yoga class is a safe place for you toĀ investigate the ancient teachings on all levels of the psyche: body, mind, emotions, and spirit.Ā The class ends with a guided yoga nidra practice and final relaxation (shavasana). All experience levels welcome.
