[quote_box_right]* Loveland School District locks all building doors

We want to make you aware that effective Monday, Nov. 2, all doors at all buildings within the Loveland City School District will be locked; access will be granted through a buzzer system after visitors identify themselves and the party they have come to visit.

“This is a result of feedback we have received from members of the Tiger Family,” said Loveland Business Manager John Ames. “Visitors will still receive the warm greeting they have come to expect at our buildings, but with the added protection to students and staff of audio and visual screening.”

These security upgrades are the result of the application and receipt of a state grant in the amount of $5,000-per-building for the primary purpose of providing front entry door security. District administrators worked with each building to tailor individual plans to make optimum security upgrades.

“The safety and security of our students and staff are of the utmost importance to our Board of Education and our administrative team,” said Loveland Superintendent Chad Hilliker. “In addition to the enhanced security measures at our buildings, we continue to maintain a strong relationship with the Loveland Police Department and we have a caring, involved District Safety Committee that is in constant review of our efforts – always seeking ways we can improve. Screening visitors was a precaution we could all agree would help ease the minds of our Tiger Family, and that is why the decision was made.”

District implements NaviGate School Safety Response System

Loveland, Ohio – In a continuous effort to stay on the cutting edge of school safety, the Loveland City School District announced on February 22, its investment and installation of the NaviGate school safety response system. This web-based program collects all emergency documentation for the district, including detailed building maps and 360 degree photographs of each room in each building, sharing access to that information with emergency responders.

“It was a very easy decision to make,” said Loveland Business Manager John Ames. “It provided for such advanced capabilities for fire, police, and our staff there was no reason not to do it for the safety it provided.”

The program allows teachers and staff members to have access to vital emergency response information on mobile devices for instant access.

“We continually look at what we are doing to see how we can improve our security measures appropriately – the locking of the doors* is a part of it, this new program is a part of it,” said Ames. “We are always looking to see how we can keep our children and staff as safe as possible.”
