Loveland, Ohio – Loveland Early Childhood Center (LECC) students turned entrepreneurs when the first-grade students opened their own businesses for an economics lesson. After learning about needs, wants, goods, and services, students worked in groups to create a business plan.

“This was a detailed lesson for first-grade,” said LECC Principal Kyle Bush. “As part of the business plan development, the students decided on whether to sell a good or service and set their prices. Students then worked hard to produce the goods and prepare the materials for their services.”

LECC businesses included face painting, pencils, fact fluency practice, pet rocks, crafts, and a photo booth. Students used “Tiger Bucks” to go shopping at their classmates’ stores.
