Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland City School District will offer tuition-based, full-day kindergarten for the 2017-18 school year. That was the unanimous decision by the Loveland Board of Education after voting on a Loveland Early Childhood Center (LECC) proposal. The district plans to offer three full-day kindergarten classes in addition to the existing half-day kindergarten offerings from the LECC campus under the direction of LECC Principal Kyle Bush.

“We could not be more excited,” said Bush. “The benefits for the full-day program to our students are proven – faster gains on literacy and language measures, significant gains in socialization, and an overall increase in long-term academic achievement. We are excited to expand our options for kindergarten programming so we can better meet a variety of families’ needs. We are committed to doing what is best for the growth of our Loveland students.”

“In supporting this recommendation our Board of Education is showing focus on the long-term investment of our No. 1 district goal – student academic growth,” said Loveland Superintendent Chad Hilliker. “We are expanding opportunities for our youngest students, which will strengthen achievement as Loveland students. I commend this Board for supporting our vision, and I sincerely thank Mr. Bush for leading this project from conception to conclusion with the program implementation for the upcoming school year.”

Plans are still in the works to determine the tuition cost, and a lottery system will be implemented for enrollment into the program. More detailed information will be available to parents in January.

The District said they would like to recognize and thank the members of the LECC Full-Day Kindergarten Planning Committee: Kyle Bush, Tammie Chapman, Lindsay Combs, Rebecca Eldred, Candi Fete, Beth Ford, Jamie Heybruch, Shannon Jones, Melanie Laurent, Judy Leamy, Jessi McGillis, Lisa Miller, Emily Parnin, Jessica Ritz, Shari Rush, Lisa Schmidt and Carrie Smith.
