Construction is underway in Nisbet Park in downtown Loveland along the Little Miami River and Loveland Bike Trail for a new playground

Loveland, Ohio – The City was successful in obtaining a Nature Works grant in the amount of $56,290.00 from the Ohio Department of Natural Resources. The grant agreement requires the City to contribute a $25,000 local match toward the project.

The new playground will include a two-bay swing set, a new play structure for both 2-5 year old and 5-12 year old age groups, all in one consolidated engineered mulch surface play area.

The plan also includes removal of the existing deteriorated asphalt path and installation of a new 5’ wide concrete ADA-accessible path beginning at the park gateway at the north end of Karl Brown Way and extending past the length of the play area to the nearest picnic shelter, and adding a branched accessible pathway to the play area.

The older children’s play structure is in the same relative position as the existing one. However, a more open-air design was chosen so supervising children should be easier, and there will be less visual obstructions to see more of the entire play area when viewed from the southern or eastern park entrances. The play structures selected for Nisbet Park have a capacity of 20-25 children at the tot play area and 30-35 children at the 5-12 year old’s play area. The swing set is the same size, 4 seats total in two bays.
