Peggy Johnson – 15 year veteran as a high school administrator – to begin serving as LHS principal starting August 1
Current Turpin Principal
Loveland, Oh. – The Loveland City School District has announced that beginning August 1, Loveland High School (LHS) will be under the leadership of Principal Peggy Johnson. The Loveland Board of Education will hold a special meeting Wednesday, June 10, to make the announcement official.
“To put it simply – we are thrilled,” said Loveland Superintendent Chad Hilliker. “Mrs. Johnson has the experience and the vision to take our already outstanding high school to the next level for our students. The administrative team went to great lengths to ensure we understood exactly what type of leader we needed to propel the LHS academic program forward – surveying students, staff and parents – and Mrs. Johnson was a perfect fit. We could not be more excited to welcome her to the Tiger Family.”
“Working for and with young people in all facets of the high school experience with dedicated and passionate educators is the most rewarding profession in society,” said Johnson. “I am as, if not more, excited today to interact with and provide a challenging and varied curriculum for all students as they choose their pathway to college and/or career. More opportunities exist for students today than ever before in our history. The talents of our high school students never cease to amaze me.”
Johnson received a Bachelor of Science degree in Speech/Language Pathology in 1981 from Miami University, and a Master of Education in Special Education (hearing impaired) from the University of Cincinnati in 1982. She served students with hearing impairments and other disabilities as a teacher in Hamilton City Schools for 17 years, and earned a Master of Education in Educational Administration in 1999, becoming a Special Education Supervisor for two years.
Johnson was hired as an Assistant Principal of Student Life at Turpin High School in the Forest Hills School District in 2001. She was named Principal of Turpin High School that next summer. Under her leadership the administrative team and faculty at Turpin earned many honors and recognitions during her 15 year tenure.
“Turpin has afforded me the opportunity to travel with the Marching Spartans to the Macy’s Day Parade and the New Year’s Parade in London. Likewise, I traveled with advanced Spanish students and faculty to Costa Rica and with faculty members to China. But every day and many evenings, I enjoy the talents of young people on the field, the stage, in the classroom and in the community. Young people continue to amaze us all with their abilities, talents and passions.
“Believe it or not, I student taught in Loveland all those years ago at Branch Hill!
Living in Warren County for 25 years and being in the same athletic conference as the Tigers for the last 15 years, has given me so many opportunities to watch the Loveland School Community in action whether it’s a band performance or an athletic event. The involvement of the students, educators, parents and community makes the youngest of our students want to be Tigers for life!”
Johnson has an adult son and daughter, a 14-year-old grandson and 21-month-old granddaughter.
This district is planning a community-wide reception to formally welcome Johnson to LHS in August.
