by Terri Rogers,

Founded in 1996, The Loveland Initiative is dedicated to improving the lives of children and families in Loveland. We provide a wide variety of programs to help lower income residents meet basic needs along with educational enrichment.

“Our mission is to provide educational support and assistance to under-served children and their families.”

The organization is looking for volunteers! We are seeking energetic, committed, and dependable individuals to lead and coordinate the development of programs as well as other volunteers that can help with program support.

Currently, we need help with the following programs:

  1. Back to School Backpack Drive Students receive grade appropriate school supplies, a new back pack
  1. Christmas Toy Store– families purchase holiday presents for children (infants-grade 12) at a considerable discount. The money that is raised finances the Tracy L. Johnson Scholarship.

  1. Cool School Enrichment Program – tutors students in grades 1-8 that are struggling with school work.
  1. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration the only community-wide Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration in Loveland,
  1. Set for Success Summer Program5-8 grade students, aiming to teach responsible habits that will put them on a path to success.

The objective of our initiative can only be achieved with the help of a large number of volunteers. We need many volunteers to help and support us for this cause.
