Loveland, Ohio – POKÉMON GO again brought a large crown of teens, adults, and famlies to Nisbet Park on Monday night. The park is a popular place to participate because Google has tagged so many landmarks within the park, such as the gazebo, the amphitheater, and the bike statue.
Nisbet Park has become a popular place of gathering and enjoyment for teens and college students since the great recession. Monday was no different, except people having an added incentive to meet strangers and as they discover from the app on their phones they are on the same POKÉMON GO team.
Late Sunday, a large, boisterous crowd running excitedly through the park prompted a citizen to call the police, fearing a fight among teenagers had erupted. During the game if a Pokemon figure appears on ones phone screen, proper etiquette and fair play dictate the name of the figure is shouted loudly. That way, everyone can run to the location and have a chance to capture the Pokemon. On Sunday, a highly prized Pokemon had the crowd pretty animated and excited.
Almost no-one under 40 in Historic downtown Monday night was not walking zombie-like staring at their phone. Parents are praising the popular game for getting children outside. Without a player walking or biking a set distance, the app turns off. This is not a Google app, but POKÉMON GO uses Google to know your every move.
