Loveland, Ohio – Seven-year-old Seth Anderson attends Loveland Primary School and is in 1st grade in Ms. Brown’s class. He wrestles for Team Lindsey coached by The Lindsey family; Germaine Sr. Germaine Jr., and Matthew Day Lindsey out of Moeller High school.
Seth recently won the Ohio Wrestling Association for Youth (OH-WAY), Ohio Athletic Committee (OAC), NUWAY WRESTLING grade-school Championship. Seth won the Nuway nationals in Lancing, Michigan. This is something that never happens especially in this area.
The 2 tournaments in Ohio are Ohio state championships and the national tournament made him an All American and National champion. His record on the year was 148-5.
Seth has worked extremely hard this year and deserves our congratulations.
Alten earned just about every possible award a football player could receive during his senior season with the Oilers
Findlay, Ohio – Senior football player Andrew Alten was named the Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Male Scholar Athlete of the Year, which was announced on July 10 by the league office.
Alten, a native of Loveland, Ohio, earned just about every possible award a football player could receive during his senior season with the Oilers and helped the team to their very first appearance in the NCAA Division II National Playoffs.
Alten secured All-American honors from D2Football.com, the Associated Press, the Division II Conference Commissioner’s Association (D2CCA) and the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA). He also picked up all-region accolades from the D2CCA and AFCA during his final year at Findlay.
The 2017 Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC) Offensive Lineman of the Year, Alten was voted first team all-league as well.
While Alten had much success on the field, he was equally as impressive in the classroom. Alten carried a 3.91 grade point average and majored in computer science and math applied computer science. He also had a minor in information processing and is now a graduate student.

2017 – Appeared and started in nine games…Named G-MAC Offensive Lineman of the Year…Named first team all-G-MAC…Named first team all-American by AFCA…Named second team all-American by the D2CCA…Named second team all-American by the Associated Press…Named first team all-region by D2CCA…Named Don Hansen first team all-region…Anchored an offensive line that, prior to his injury in week nine, protected its quarterback better than any o-line in the country, allowing just 0.33 sacks per game at that time…In Alten’s nine games, Findlay rushed for 292.3 yards per game (fourth in the country), scored 47.7 points per game (third in the country), and picked up 248 first downs (second in the country). His efforts helped lead an Oilers offense that was one of just two teams in the country in any division to post 250+ yards of rushing offense and passing offense (the other was Ohio State).
2016 – Appeared and started in ten games…Named first team all-GLIAC…Named second team all-region by Don Hansen’s Football Gazette..Helped pave the way for an offense that, for the first time in school hisory, featured a quarterback with 2,500+ passing yards, a receiver with 1,000+ receiving yards, and a tailback with 1,000+ rushing yards in the same season.
2015 – Apperaed and started in all 11 games…Blocked for an offense that put up 36.1 points per game and 477.5 yards per game.
2014 – Appeared in eight games…Made seven starts…Played center, right guard and left guard for the Oilers during the year…Helped pave the way for the Oilers to average 448.4 yards per game and 35.3 points per contest.
Prep – Lettered in football, wrestling and track…Named all-Ohio in football…Was a first team all-conference pick…Earned all-city honors…Named all-conference in wrestling…Was the Ohio 2014 Wrestling State Champion in the heavyweight division. Andrew as a senior was on the 2013 Loveland High School Div. II championship team as an OL.

Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland High School yearbook, run and created by students in Loveland’s publications class, earned a gold medal at the Columbia Scholastic Press Association and the All-American title from the National Scholastic Press Association. Both awards employ a panel of media professionals who perused, analyzed and judged all 256 pages of the 2016-2017 “Lohian”.

The Columbia Scholastic Press Association, owned by Columbia University in New York, gave the yearbook a gold medal. The association judges magazines, newspapers, online media and yearbooks from across America and judges on a point-based system ranking gold as the highest quality.
Additionally, the National Scholastic Press Association, a non-profit educational association, offers journalistic education to American (and foreign) students along with written critiques by professional journalists and media experts. It is associated with the University of Minnesota’s Journalism and Mass Media school.
“The highest rating given to any publication in the critique service is the All-American. To acquire this award, the students had to earn four Marks of Distinction and score at least 450 points out of 500. This book earned four marks of distinction in coverage, design, photography, and writing and editing. Only about five percent of all entries received the All-American Award,” claimed publications teacher, Mrs. Rhonda Overbeeke.
Students design the yearbook following a given set of rules and collect 15-20 high-quality photos, generally taken outside of class. For a sports page, the most work-intensive yearbook page, students are asked to cover at least five to six different games for the specific sport. Students work together to select the highest quality photos, interview peers and staff, collaborate with editors, design their page in a cohesive and aesthetically pleasing manner and create an appealing yearbook. Each page generally takes a minimum of twenty to twenty-five hours to complete.
“It is truly amazing that we were able to win these awards,” said LHS Student and Yearbook Sports Editor Lauren Parker. “Everyone worked so hard editing, taking photos, and making sure that all the little details were as close to perfect as possible. I am so proud of everyone on the crew.”
“We are so proud of the publication this staff produced, and the high level of collaboration that went into the success of the publication,” said LHS Principal Peggy Johnson. “Our yearbook students pushed themselves to be the best of the best, and they achieved it. The yearbook was outstanding, and certainly deserving of the accolades it has received.”
Editors Sam Faingold, Katherine Vuyk and Lauren Parker attended a yearbook camp the summer of 2016 in order to hone their skills and prepare for the coming year’s award-winning publication. In addition, photography and media professionals gave advice and lectures to the class. Armed with their media knowledge, photo and section editors helped guide their peers to create a stand-out yearbook.
“I would attribute the success to working as a team […] Most importantly, the staff members made a commitment to creating the best book they could,” finished Overbeeke.
