    Loveland, Ohio – On National Letter of Intent Day in the Chuck Schmidt Gymnasium at Loveland High School, Athletic Director Rich Bryant officiated the Winter Athletic Signing Day ceremony.

    Congratulations to the following student-athletes who will be continuing their athletic careers at the collegiate level:
    Alexis Bullock – Soccer-Warner University
    Drew Murnan– Cheer-University of Cincinnati
    Drew Holman– Football-Ashland University
    Julius Vorbroker– Football-Thomas More University
    Zach Gleason– Lacrosse-University of Detroit Mercy
    Sebastian Jordan – Lacrosse-Mount Vernon Nazarene University
    National Signing Day is traditionally the first day that a high school senior can sign a binding National Letter of Intent for a collegiate sport with a school that is a member of the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) in the United States.*

    Loveland, Ohio – The 2021 Fall National College Signing Day, a day that so many Senior student-athletes look forward to, finally took place Wednesday at Loveland High School’s Gymnasium!

    The yearly ceremony aims to not only celebrate the hard work and dedication that Loveland’s top student-athletes have put in the last 4 years but also brings together the student-athlete’s family members, coaches, teachers, staff, and peers to witness the big “signing” moment.

    Director of Student Athletics, Brian Conatser, introduced the student-athletes, as they sat down at the college signing table surrounded by their biggest supporters and loved ones. We of course couldn’t be prouder of these student-athletes and wish them the best of luck in their future collegiate athletic endeavors!

    The following LHS Senior student-athletes signed to play athletics collegiately in 2022:

    • Sarah Madix – University of Cincinnati, Cross Country, and Track and Field

    • Ryan Chevalier – Virginia Tech, Cross Country and Track and Field

    • Jesse Gibbins – Central Michigan University, Cross Country and Track and Field

    • Emmy Sager – University of Cincinnati, Cross Country, and Track and Field

    • Leiah Goedde – Ashland University, Soccer

    • Jackson Lux – University of the Pacific, Baseball

  • New OHSAA Executive Director is Announced!

    New OHSAA Executive Director is Announced!

    Columbus, Ohio – On Tuesday, the Ohio High School Athletic Association (OHSAA) introduced their new Executive Director, Doug Ute, making him the 11th person to fulfill the prestigious position!

    Ute, a Bellville, Ohio native, began his journey in 1988 when he became a part-time business teacher and a basketball coach at Noble Local Schools. Eventually, he went on to teach, coach, and fulfill the athletic administrator position at Buckeye Central High School. 

    Over the last 20 years, Ute acted as school Superintendent, 9 of those years being at Marion Elgin Local Schools and 11 of those years being at Newark City Schools. During Ute’s time at Newark, he created the Social, Emotional, and Academic Success (SEAS) program. The SEAS program allows counselors, teachers, and staff to get together and discuss ways to help their students succeed in life. Ute also expanded the free lunch program and made free breakfast available to all students. With all of Ute’s hard work and efforts at Newark, the school district had its highest graduation rate of all time.

    Ute went on to accept the position as Deputy Director of the Buckeye Association of School Administrators, but shortly after was asked to fill the Executive Director position with the OHSAA.

    Ute said in a press release sent out by the OHSAA that he has always had the mindset of a coach and athletic director so OHSAA would be the perfect place for him to be.

    “I am humbled to be selected by the Board of Directors for this position and join a great team at the OHSAA office. We are all aware of the uncertainties that are before us due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but I know that together we can and will be stronger together,” Ute explained, “My focus has always been on helping students become better people, and athletics are such an important part in that. That is true now more than ever. I can’t wait to get started and help lead our member schools.”

    President of the OHSAA Board of Directors and Athletic Director at Mentor High School, Jeff Cassella, expressed his excitement for bringing Ute onto the OHSAA team in OHSAA’s press release.

    “We are excited to have someone lead our organization with Doug’s experience, both in working with student-athletes and with his experience in the workings of the OHSAA,” Cassella said, “The Board of Directors is confident that Doug’s leadership style and experience is a great fit to lead the OHSAA through this unique year.”

    Ute played basketball at Ashland University and graduated with a bachelor’s in Business Administration and Marketing. He later earned his Master’s Degree in School Administration, a Graduate Teaching Degree in Business, A Principal’s License, and a Superintendent’s License from Ashland University. Ute and his wife Kory, now have 4 children and 8 grandchildren.

    Three Loveland CHCA Seniors Sign with Athletic Scholarships

    Eight Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy seniors recently participated in National Signing Day, signing letters of intent to commit to playing at schools next year. The ceremony took place on Thursday, February 8, at CHCA’s Martha S. Lindner Upper School.

    Mason Bernhardt of Loveland signed with Ohio University, located in Athens, OH, to play football. Bernhardt was named 1st Team All MVC, 1st Team All District, and Honorable Mention All State.

    Peyton Breese of Loveland signed with Valparaiso University, located in Valparaiso, IN to play football. Breese was named 2nd Team All MVC.

    Kyler Mueller of Mason signed with Ashland University, located in Ashland, OH, to play football. Mueller was named 1st Team All MVC and Honorable Mention All District.

    Austin Young of Mason signed with Wilmington College, located in Wilmington, OH, to play football and lacrosse. During his football season, Young was named 1st Team All MVC, as well as All Academic Team. CHCA Lacrosse Coach Mark Lynch shares, “The men’s lacrosse program is excited for Austin. He is the very first NCAA lacrosse commit for CHCA. Austin exemplifies the values we preach in our program: hard work, a team-first mentality, and being a versatile athlete. We know he will be a great representation of CHCA at Wilmington on the gridiron, lacrosse field, and in the classroom.”

    CHCA Football Coach, Mark Mueller, says, “I am excited for Mason, Peyton, Kyler, and Austin to extend their playing careers. They will each be an awesome addition to their new programs. As for us at CHCA, we have our hands full, filling the major roles they played for us. I wish them all the best, and am especially excited to watch my son, Kyler, play for my alma mater.”

    Amanda Donahue of Morrow signed with Baldwin Wallace, located in Berea, OH, to play soccer. Donahue is a four-year varsity letter winner. She received MVC Honorable Mention for one year and 2nd Team All MVC for two years. CHCA Girls’ Soccer Coach Heather Vibberts says, “Baldwin Wallace is not only getting a top quality athlete and student, but a great person. I know she will be successful no matter what the future holds. We are so excited to see her continue her soccer career and develop her skills at the next level.”

    Griffin Hughes of Loveland signed with Queens College, located in Charlotte, NC, to play baseball. He also received the prestigious Presidential Academic Scholarship. Hughes led his team in stolen bases in the 2017 spring season.

    Camryn Olson of Mason signed with Hillsdale College, located in Hillsdale, MI, to play softball. In her 2017 season, Olson hit .712, led the league in total strikeouts with 175, her ERA was 0.64, she set a team record of three homeruns in one game, and was voted MVC Player of the Year. In addition to her time on the field, Olson also played basketball, is a member of National Honor Society, works in the Leaning Eagle Coffee Bar, and was part of the cast of CHCA’s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

    Cayse Osborne of Sycamore Township signed with University of Montevallo, located in Montevallo, AL, to play baseball. Osborne was named 2nd Team All MVC for baseball. He was also named 2nd Team All MVC for football, as well as All Academic Team.

    CHCA Director of Athletics Eric Taylor shares, “It was an incredible honor to celebrate excellence and the upcoming opportunities for our CHCA student-athletes. These athletes have left quite a legacy at CHCA and their leadership will impact many future teams. These eight athletes represent five sports and include all collegiate divisions. We are excited to see them enter the next phase of their lives”
