    Loveland native Ricky Mulvey appears On CNN as “Finance Expert” on trade war uncertainty

    Ricky Mulvey was an Intern and talking head at Loveland Magazine, starting when he was in middle school until he graduated from Loveland High School. Of his amazing accomplishments while with Loveland Magazine was in 2012 when he reported during President Barak Obama’s campaign rally in Cincinnati’s Eden Park and when then Vice-President Joe Biden held a reelection campaign rally at Milford High School.

    In 2024 Ricky was in New York City to receive a Signal Award for best money and finance podcast.

    Ricky is currently a host and senior producer for Motley Fool Money, a daily podcast for stock investors. Weekday episodes offer a long-term perspective on business news with The Motley Fool’s investment analysts. Weekend shows are a mix of investing classes and longer-form interviews. The show is hosted by Dylan Lewis, Ricky, and Mary Long. In 2024, Ricky shared the “Listener’s Choice” 2024 Signal Award for best money and finance podcast.

    In a 2023 podcast, Ricky interviewed Walter Isaacson to talk about the force that is Elon Musk. Ricky interviewed Pixar co-Founder Ed Catmull about AI and storytelling in 2024.

    Ricky lives in Denver with his wife, Samantha Weiss Mulvey. They were married this past January.

    I was always so proud of how far Ricky has come, and now he is in the “Situation Room” with Pamela Brown, influencing the nation and world! His hard work and dedication to professionalism have paid off.

    Pamela Brown is a multi-award-winning CNN anchor and chief investigative correspondent who currently anchors The Situation Room with Wolf Blitzer and Pamela Brown weekdays from 10 AM to 12 PM. She asked Ricky and co-guest Jean Chatzky, about what their listeners are thinking and saying about what’s going on in the nation’s capital.

    Ricky appeared on the CNN broadcast on April 18 along with Jean Chatzky the CEO of HerMoney.com.

    Ricky told me today, “I think that I’m prouder of my daily work as sports director at Loveland Magazine versus covering a few political rallies.” Ricky covered Loveland High School varsity football and basketball.

    With nation’s eyes on Ohio: Loveland Magazine hired to provide early data to major news organizations

    Edison Research collects all Election Results for the National Election Pool, which consists of ABC, NBC, CBS, and CNN

    Loveland, Ohio – With Ohio Issue 1 and 2 on the ballot tomorrow, Edison Research has engaged Loveland Magazine to telephone them with local results as soon as the polls close. To provide their “projections” they do not wait until local boards of elections post results on the Internet. They need results as soon as they are posted on the door of local precincts.

    Edison Research is the sole provider of election data, race projections, and analysis to ABC News, CBS News, CNN, and NBC News. In an effort to improve quality, streamline data collection, and expand election coverage in 2018, ABC News, CBS News, CNN, and NBC News ended their arrangement with the Associated Press for vote tabulation and now exclusively partner with Edison Research for these data. Edison Research projections are made in all 50 states for statewide races and ballot measures.

    Tomorrow night when you hear projections about the results of Ohio’s abortion amendment or the legalization of marijuana, the data Loveland Magazine provided will go into the complex calculation of “projecting” winners and losers. If Steve Kornacki pulls out his “Big Board” Tuesday night and projects the outcome of the two big Ohio issues, he will be relying in part on data collected by Loveland Magazine.

    Loveland Magazine will also publish local results tomorrow on the important Loveland School Board and City Council elections.

    The Loveland Board of Education voted unanimously on Wednesday to fully re-open schools. During their discussion, we heard repeatedly how the devil’s daily details are not yet known because staff and administrators are waiting for advice and guidelines from various local, State, and Federal agencies that have yet to be released.     Meanwhile, we find out today as Bianca Quilantan reports in Politico that the White House is blocking CDC officials from testifying next week at a hearing on reopening schools.

    Separately, the CDC confirmed that more guidance for opening schools won’t be released until later this month. The report was expected to already be available.

    House Education and Labor Committee Chair Bobby Scott (VA-03) had invited CDC Director Robert Redfield, or a designee, to testify before the Early Childhood, Elementary and Secondary Education Subcommittee on July 23 at a hearing on safely reopening schools.

    CNN’s Dana Bash speaks to Education Secretary Betsy DeVos about whether or not she has a plan for schools to safely reopen for students as Covid-19 cases surge in the US.

    Scott asked Redfield to discuss the immediate needs of K-12 public schools as many districts, including Loveland, Ohio schools, prepare to reopen in a few weeks.

    “It is alarming that the Trump Administration is preventing the CDC from appearing before the Committee at a time when its expertise and guidance is so critical to the health and safety of students, parents, and educators,” Scott said in a statement to Politico. “This lack of transparency does a great disservice to the many communities across the country facing difficult decisions about reopening schools this fall.”

    Aides, speaking on background, said the committee was told that Redfield would not appear, at the direction of the White House according to Politico.

    Science and evidence-based resources and tools could provide additional information for administrators, teachers and staff, parents, caregivers and guardians in Loveland, as they work towards the public health-oriented goal of safely opening schools this fall.

    Scott released this statement on Friday:

    “School reopening plans must be guided by the advice of public health experts. For that reason, we asked the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to testify in a public hearing to provide greater clarity on the steps we can take to help schools reopen safely.

    “It is alarming that the Trump administration is preventing the CDC from appearing before the Committee at a time when its expertise and guidance is so critical to the health and safety of students, parents, and educators. This lack of transparency does a great disservice to the many communities across the country facing difficult decisions about reopening schools this fall. 

    “The administration’s strategy of prioritizing politics over science has had a devastating impact on our country throughout this pandemic. It should not make that same mistake when it comes to reopening schools.”
