    Loveland appoints new Director of Finance

    Loveland, Ohio – At the December 15 City Council meeting, Mayor Kathy Bailey issued the oath of office to the City’s new Director of Finance, Mark Medlar.  

    Medlar, who was hired by the City Manager, began his employment began on December 14. 

    Medlar comes to the city via Butler County where he oversaw all financial functions of their water and sewer departments. He also served as a Management Analyst for the City of Cincinnati, where he provided financial analysis for various city departments.

    Loveland Finance Director submits letter of resignation

    Loveland, Ohio – “I’ve reached a point where I want to re-shift my focus to my family and the next stage of our life,” Michelle Byrde told Loveland Magazine. “I will miss my team and co-workers and wish everyone the best.”

    Loveland’s Director of Finance, Michelle Byrde, has submitted her letter of resignation. Her resignation is effective no later than December 30 according to City Manager Dave Kennedy in his weekly up-date to Council on October 2.

    Kennedy said in the memo, “Michelle has worked tirelessly during her time with the city which began in October of 2012, and that effort continued following her appointment as the city’s Director of Finance in September of 2018.”

    Byrde also told Loveland Magazine, “In my eight years with the City, I have had the opportunity to learn about government operations and am lucky enough to have met and worked with a number of very good people.”

    Kennedy added, “I have always been impressed that no job was too great or too small for Michelle to tackle, and for always being receptive to my constant interruptions to ask questions about an invoice, budgeting, or the myriad of other items we worked on together.”

    Byrde expressed appreciation to all those who mentored her in her three different roles at City Hall.

    “On behalf of all of us with the city, we want to thank Michelle for her service to the Loveland community. I only wish that her beloved Reds could have scored at least one run for her in the play-offs,” said Kennedy.

    The process for filling the Director of Finance position was to have begun last week.

    City appoints Michelle Byrde as Director of Finance

    Loveland, Ohio – City Council has appointed Michelle Byrde as the City’s new Director of Finance. Byrde has been with the City of Loveland since
    2012 and was appointed as Assistant Finance Director in February of 2015. She has also served as Acting Director of Finance multiple times.   Mayor Bailey who administered the Oath of Office to Michelle said, “Michelle has served the City with commitment over the last several years as our Assistant Finance Director, this new position is a natural transition and we all look forward to working with her in this new capacity.”

    Byrde’s annual base salary will be $80,000. Council agreed to purchase and to pay the premiums on a term life insurance policy equal to three times her base salary. Council also agreed to continue to provide hospitalization, surgical and comprehensive medical insurance for Byrde and her dependents as well as make required premium payments on behalf of Byrde for insurance policies for life, accident, sickness, major medical and dependents coverage group insurance covering her and her dependents. Coverage shall be the same as that provided to all other non-union employees.

    Byrde replaces Peter Rancatore who resigned on August 14. Rancatore was being paid a base salary of $90,000.

    Background: Peter Rancatore, Jr. resigned as Loveland’s Finance Director after 68 days on the job.
