    Loveland Jazz Swing Dance coming December 6th

    Loveland, Ohio – Performing at the 2019 LHS Jazz Swing Dance is the LHS Jazz Lab Band, the LMS Jazz Band, and the LHS Jazz Orchestra. This event is the main fundraiser for the Jazz program at Loveland High School.

    The program uses this night to fund things such as trips, instrument repairs, new music, and to bring in professional musicians from the Cincinnati area and beyond.

    The event is a Swing Dance. Attendees will be given a dance lesson before the bands perform, and then be able to dance to swing music from three different bands all night!

    There will also be a gift basket raffle as well as a silent auction with items donated from Loveland vendors. There will be desserts and beverages (soda, water, tea, coffee, etc.) included with the cost of admission.

    The event is taking place at 6:30 PM on Friday, December 6th at Loveland High School.

    Loveland High School to host Forum on vaping and nicotine addiction

    Loveland, Ohio – The public is invited to attend an open forum and panel discussion by Hamilton County Public Health (HCPC) at Loveland High School on November 21, 6 PM.

    The main theme of the event is nicotine addiction, which will be discussed by a panel of experts:

      • Dr. Steve Feagins, Medical Director of HCPH
      • Tobacco Specialist Jessica Skelton from HCPH
      • Loveland School Resource Officer Jesse Moore
      • PreventionFIRST Prevention Specialist Lauran Houshel from Americorps Public Allies

    The moderator of the event is Loveland High School Senior William Heard.

    Topics of the discussion will include how nicotine addiction differs in adults and children; the biological and physiological changes that occur when a person becomes addicted; where nicotine is found; the increased use of e-cigarettes; education around addiction prevention; and policy work done at various levels to combat nicotine use and addiction.

    A question-and-answer session will follow the panel discussion.

    The event, which is free to the public, will be held in the Loveland High School Auditorium. It will also be live-streamed on Facebook (https://www.facebook.com/HamCoHealth/).

    Loveland’s Zombie Apocalypse is coming! We are already 3/4 sold out in just a couple weeks time so sign up fast or face your demise!

    Downtown Loveland is under attack by a Zombie Apocalypse and you must escape the city.
    In each participating business you must decode clues in order to gain access to the safe houses (bars). Once inside the bars you must find or solve part of the phrase that will get you out of the city to safety.  Escape by 8 PM or risk your demise and get eaten by the Zombies!
    Please feel free to dress up and make it festive. Maybe become one of the Zombies.
    BEWARE – You will never know who the real zombies are and who are the warmbloods posing as zombies!
    This event will fill up fast as in the past so use your brain and get signed up while you still have one.

    The Mariemont Preservation Foundation (MPF) has been gracious enough to loan us copies of some of their Nancy Ford Cones’ photos for the exhibition. This reception and celebration of Cones’ birthday will feature architectural prints of Mariemont in addition to the current exhibit of Cones’ pictures and memorabilia. Light refreshments will be served (including wine). The loan from MPF will remain on exhibit through early November.

    Family ties abound in Loveland Stage Company’s “Mamma Mia” Cast

    Loveland, Ohio – Loveland Stage Company’s “Mamma Mia” opens August 16 and runs through the 25th.  The musical revolves around the popular music of ABBA but the heart of the storyline is about family.  And family ties are found throughout the talented cast.

    Ava Swearingen plays the role of Sophie, desperately trying to find her “real” father. Ava’s mother, Bobbie Jo is in the ensemble.

    Betsy Carras (pictured above),  an English teacher in Mason City schools, is joined in the cast by her two children Elizabeth and Noah.

    Lee Vest, cast as Pepper, is joined by his dad Dave who is working on set construction

    Artistic Director and set Designer Deirdre Dyson is joined by her husband Dick, who is the light designer.

    Steve and Theresa Kovacs are the co-producers of this production.

    The production opens August 15 and will continue through August 25.  Showtimes are August 15, 16, 17, 23 and 24 at 730 p.m. and 3 p.m. on August 18, 24 (with an ASL presentation) and  25.

    Cincinnati native and University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music professor emeritus Phil DeGreg has played all over the world and we are extremely lucky to have him here for this exciting of jazz. They will be performing at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church at 7pm on Wednesday, August 7 as part of a Summer Music Series. All concerts are free and open to the community.

    The Frogman Race is comprised of:

    5 Mile Canoe/Kayak
    8 Mile Bike
    5K Run

    You may compete as a two person team (use a canoe) or individually (use a kayak).

    Please note: The minimum age for competing on a team is 10 years old and as an individual is 16 years old.

    $70/Individual
    ($10 discount if registered before August 16)

    The race will begin at 8:30 a.m. with a staggered start.
    Registration/Check-in will begin at 7:30 a.m.

    Packet Pick up will be at JackRabbit Running Store of Loveland on Friday, September 13.

    Race will begin and end with all transitions at Loveland Canoe & Kayak (174 Karl Brown Way). All participants will be bused to start line (Carl A. Rahe Access).  Singles in kayaks will start the event, followed by team canoe divisions.

    Race Divisions:

    Team (16+), Parent/Child Team (10+), Male (16+), Female (16+), Senior (55+)

    Event t-shirts will be available for purchase (pre-order only) for $20 each.

    Canoes, kayaks, life jackets, and paddles will be provided.  Participants are to provide their own bicycle (road bike is recommended).  Life jackets must be worn at all times while on the water.  Bike helmets must be worn at all times while on your bike.  No headphones are allowed during any portion fo the race.  Failure to comply with the safety rules will subject contestants to disqualification.

    A photo ID is required and waiver must be signed and submitted in order to receive your race packet and bib/timing chip.  This is a rain or shine event and there are NO refunds.  In the event of severe weather the start may be delayed and the course may be altered for safety reasons.

    Please respect your fellow participants.  There will be all types of skill levels competing so please stay aware of your surroundings at all times.

    Bike’s can be rented locally at Loveland Bike Rental and Montgomery Cyclery.

    This race can be used as a Warm-up to Morgan’s Little Miami Triathlon.
