Loveland, Ohio – These photos of City Hall’s fireworks show on the 4th of July were taken by resident Bob Kessler. Bob shot these photos from the bank of the State and National Scenic Little Miami River across from Kiwanis Park where each rocket was sent into orbit. Bob was on the small beach at Nisbet Park.

Loveland, Ohio – Special events must provide additional accessible parking and restrooms based on the anticipated number of people who will attend. After our request, City Hall has provided Loveland Magazine with some information for persons with a disability who may need parking spots, accessible bathrooms, or shuttle service for the 4th of July event that will be held in Historic Downtown. Loveland Magazine has provided additional information.
• The accessible restrooms at the Loveland Bike Trail will be open at Nisbet Park.
• There will be accessible portable toilets placed along/near the Loveland Bike Trail in the Linda J. Cox Trailside Parking lot, near Browns Crossing, and near Harrison Avenue.
• For the downtown vicinity, there are existing accessible parking spots at Nisbet Park, the Firefighters’ Memorial, City Hall, and Linda J. Cox Trailside Parking lot.
• There will also be added, temporary accessible parking spots along the Loveland Bike Trail near Nisbet Park.
• The shuttle service to the festival is not accessible for persons with a disability.
Railroad Avenue will be temporarily closed from 2 PM until 11 PM to through traffic on July 4th. There will also be a temporary road closure along the parade route from approximately 6:30 PM until 8:30 PM.
West Loveland Avenue will be closed from Riverside Drive to Karl Brown Way During the fireworks from approximately 10 PM until 10:30 PM.
Some parking will be restricted due to parade and shuttle routes. Some parking spaces will be affected on the following streets:
Kiwanis Park, including the Matt Haverkamp Foundation Dog Park, will be closed to event parking. In addition, the dog park will close at noon on July 4.
The city operates more than 10 free public lots. View parking map.
Parking fees will be waived in the City Hall/Works lot on July 4.
Keep in mind there are also private lots throughout Historic Downtown and fees may be charged.
There are FREE shuttle rides that will run continuously from 4 PM until 11 PM.
The shuttle is not accessible to persons with a handicap.
Park-and-ride shuttle locations will be at Loveland High School (1 Tiger Trail) and the Loveland Early Childhood Center (6740 Loveland-Miamiville Road). Drop-off locations will be at Riverside Drive (near Veterans’ Memorial) and Third Street (near Whistle Stop Clay Works).
A free concert by the band, Pandora Effect be at the Nisbet Park Amphitheater from 8 PM until 10 PM. The band played in the FanZone at GABP when the Atlanta Braves were in town for a sold-out game.

Kid Zone — 4 PM until 6:30 PM — Nisbet Park
Lawn Games — 4 PM until 6:30 PM — Fountain Greene (Near Fleet Feet)
NEST Community Learning Center will host lawn games.
Yankee Doodle Dog Show — 4 PM — Nisbet Park
Meet at 3:45 PM at the Clock Tower in Downtown Loveland (near the Bike Trail crossing). Dogs will parade toward Nisbet Park at 4 PM. Three dogs will be selected as best-dressed winners and will receive a prize basket from Pet Wants.
Water Zone — 4 PM until 8 PM — City Hall Lawn
There will be a giant inflatable water slide and misting fans, plus a splash station for little ones.
Food Trucks — 4 PM until 10 PM
Food truck vendors will be available throughout the downtown area.
Bingo — 5 PM & 8:30 PM — City Hall
Take a break from the heat to play a few cards of bingo! An afternoon and evening session will be held. Prizes for game winners. Monetary donations will be accepted with all proceeds going toward the Ben Morrison Memorial Fund, which provides scholarships to Loveland High School seniors.
Kids’ Bike Contest — 6:15 PM — Loveland Elementary School
Decorate your bike/scooter/tricycle for the holiday, and meet at Loveland Elementary School (600 Loveland-Madeira Road) to take part in this annual tradition. Children will gather and then take part in the parade at 7 PM. Trailside Provisions has donated prizes for the top 3 entries.

Loveland, Ohio – For area residents choosing to celebrate freedom and independence this 2022 Independence Day, here is some information from City Hall.
Many events will be taking place in Nisbet Park.
A kid zone with photo opportunities, a mini petting zoo, performers and more will occur 4-6:30 PM in Nisbet Park. Lawn games will be available from 4-9:30 PM in front of City Hall and Fountain Greene (in front of the Fleet Feet store).
At 7 PM, the parade will leave from Loveland Elementary School (600 Loveland Madeira Road), turn on West Loveland Avenue, and travel through the downtown district, ending at the intersection of State Route 48 and East Loveland Avenue. If you or your organization would like to be in the parade, registration is open through June 30.
The band Color Blind will perform from 8-10 PM at the Nisbet Park Amphitheater. This “high-energy party band” performs songs from the 1970s to current radio hits.
The fireworks display will begin at 10 PM and be visible across the downtown area.
In addition, food trucks will be at the event. Visitors also can enjoy the city’s Designated Outdoor Refreshment Area (DORA).
Parking shuttles will be transporting eventgoers continuously from 4-11 PM. Shuttle pick-up locations will be at Loveland High School (1 Tiger Trail) and the Loveland Early Childhood Center (6740 Loveland-Miamiville Road). Drop-off locations will be at Riverside Drive and Third Street.

Loveland, Ohio – “We are asking our local businesses to support the Valentine’s ‘Mask’erade Ball through sponsorships to cover the cost of the event,” LSFD (Loveland Symmes Fire Department) Chief Otto Huber said, “We want to send as many interested firefighters to medic school as possible. It will be a great time to take your sweetheart out for a romantic evening and support a great charity!”
When the LCFA (Loveland Symmes Community Firefighter’s Association) found out about Loveland planning its first Hearts Afire Weekend, they knew they wanted to be involved. So in true Loveland style, they decided to plan a heart-felt event where they could not only be involved with the Hearts Afire festivities but they could also give back to a great cause at the same time.
After the LSFD’s Chief Financial Officer, Candice Cook, passed in 2018, they wanted to be sure to keep her memory alive because for 25 years she was such an important part of the department. Cook’s family and the LCFA started the Candice M. Cook Scholarship Foundation in hopes that the fund would help and encourage firefighters to attend paramedic school.
For firefighters attending paramedic school, it not only means they advance within their careers but also gives them an opportunity to explore higher education. Because paramedic schooling can be both time-consuming and expensive (over $10,000) the LCFA and Cook’s family wanted the sole mission of their scholarship foundation to be providing funds for the cost of tuition and books for paramedic high education.
The Loveland Firefighters attempted to celebrate Cook and the scholarship foundation with a music festival in September of 2020 but unfortunately, the event had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 spike. Now the Loveland Firefighters are ready more than ever to get the Cook Foundation up and running, which is why they decided to launch their first-ever Valentine’s “Mask”erade Ball!
“Valentine’s Day in Loveland is a big deal,” Huber said, “Our city’s theme is ‘Sweetheart of Ohio.’ Every year, people from all over the world send their Valentine’s Day cards to the Loveland Post Office, where the red-clad Loveland Valentine Ladies see to it that each Cupid-themed communication receives the city’s official Valentine’s Day stamp.”
The Valentine’s “Mask”erade Ball sponsored by the Candice M. Cook Foundation will be held at the Landing Event Center in downtown Loveland on Saturday, February 12th from 6:30 p.m. to 10 p.m. The Ball will include a beautiful dinner, an open bar, free valet parking, “casino” activities, and local entertainment featuring The Nasty Nati Brass Band. Dancing is of course encouraged and Loveland’s very own Mayor, Kathy Bailey, will be renewing wedding vows for those that are interested in “re-tying the knot!” Tickets are $65 per person or $120 per couple for the Valentine’s “Mask”erade Ball. The Valentine’s Day fun won’t end at the Landing Event Center! Beginning at 10 p.m. The Nasty Nati Brass Band will lead an impromptu 2nd line parade to the after-party, which will take place on Bishop’s Quarter’s rooftop. Those that attend will be able to enjoy New Orleans-inspired drinks and food in addition to fireworks!

Active children and adults, people with heart and lung disease, including asthma, and older adults should reduce prolonged or heavy outdoor exertion.
The Southwest Ohio Air Quality Agency has issued an Air Quality Alert for Friday, July 3, 2020 through Sunday, July 5, 2020 for Butler, Clermont, Hamilton, and Warren counties in Ohio; Boone, Campbell, and Kenton counties in Kentucky; and Dearborn County in Indiana.
You can help the situation locally by not using fire pits, lighting campfires, charcoal grills, or setting off fireworks.
If you conserve electricity by turning out lights and unplugging unused appliances and electronics during the alert it will reduce the demand for coal-burning power plants in our region.
Loveland and Symmes Township, Ohio – The City of Loveland issued a press release on June 3rd announcing a collaboration on Independence Day celebrations with Symmes Township.
The release said that Loveland’s share of the fireworks would be set off at Boike Park at Loveland High School.
Loveland Magazine just learned that Loveland’s fireworks will instead be launched from a location inside Phillips Park.
After a reader noticed the discrepancy on a map we shared this morning from the City’s FaceBook page we asked about it.
Assistant to the City Manager, Misty Brents just told Loveland Magazine, “Rozzi decided Phillips would be the better location.”
Loveland’s and Symmes Township’s annual Independence Day celebrations have been canceled for this year. City Manager David Kennedy said in a press release on July 3 that the decision was made “out of health concerns for our residents and is consistent with public health concerns over holding large attendance events.”
The City and Township will hold two simultaneous, “park and watch” fireworks shows on Saturday, July 4.
Symmes Township Administrator, Kimberly Lapensee said in a press release, “Symmes Township is so excited to partner with the City of Loveland to celebrate the 4th of July while keeping our community safe.”
Fireworks will be set off at Phillips Park and Symmes Park on Lebanon Road on Saturday, July 4 at a time that has not yet been announced.
It is being recommended that residents who live near the parks are asked to stay at home to enjoy the show. Others are encouraged to watch from their cars “remaining socially distant” at parking locations to be announced.
Both the City and the Township say that no festivals are scheduled at this time.

• Don’t miss Inquire Without playing at the clock from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. and The Whammies will take the stage in Nisbet Park at 8 p.m. on July 4!
• Ladies and gentlemen, step right up to Cincinnati Circus’ Stunt Show on July 4 at the central green. Shows are at 4:30, 5:30, 6:30, 8:30 and 9:30 p.m.
• Bring the kiddos to Loveland’s July 4 Kid Zone in Nisbet Park from 4:00 to 6:30 p.m. All activities are FREE and will feature the Cool Critter’s Outreach, Heavenward Farms Pony Rides, Foam Dance Party, Disney Characters, Bounce House, Inflatable Games, Face Painting, Balloon Artists, and Branches Church Photo Booth.
• Shuttles will be available on July 4! Park at Loveland High School or St. Columban Parish to catch a bus to downtown Loveland. Shuttles will run from 3:30 p.m. to 11:15 p.m.
• NEST will host an old-fashioned family fun area on the lawn in front of City Hall on July 4 from 4 p.m. – 9 p.m. Activities will include sack races, water balloon toss, hula hoop contest, three-legged race, patriotic craft, watermelon seed spitting contest, and an apple pie baking contest. Please have pies at the judging area by 4:30 p.m.

A few important reminders for Sparks in the Park….once again this year, no coolers will be allowed on the festival grounds. The @milfordcommunityfiredepartment will be selling water, pop and Gatorade, American Legion Victor Stier Post 450 will be selling beer and the Kona Ice Truck will be there with shaved ice!
None of the vendors are set up to take credit/debit cards, it will be cash only and there will be an ATM available onsite. Food options available are Padrino Italian, Harvest Market Smoker, EZ BBQ, Texas Roadhouse, Milford Angilo’s Pizza, and Tickled Sweet.
Bring chairs and/or blankets!
Ronnie Vaughn Music will be kicking things off at 6 PM with lots of familiar favorites and some originals!
Limited handicap parking is available at the festival grounds, look for the signs. Other parking options include Parking Options: City lot on Main Street, left-hand side of American Legion, The former Milford Main lot, the City Administrative Building and street parking. You can access the park from the uptown parking areas down Lila Avenue to High Street.

Live music by EDEN. The beer booth will be a great gathering spot for adults. Find a hillside spot to watch two local baseball teams play in the noon All-Star game. Be sure to join us for this full day of family fun!

The parade steps off at noon on Thursday, July 4th. The parade starts at the northern boundary of Northside at Hamilton Avenue and Ashtree Drive and travels south on Hamilton Avenue to Hoffner Park. Roads will close approximately 10 minutes before the parade start.
