The birthday of Darnell Parker, the beloved Loveland High School woman’s head basketball coach is coming up in November, and his friend and team photographer Gayle Rothmeeler wanted to do something special for him. Coach Parker died after a long struggle with cancer this past July.
This is the plan…
In honor of Darnell’s Birthday, she would like us to collectively play basketball for the 24 hours of his birthday. It will be broken down into 1-hour segments so that throughout the entire day of his birthday there is someone playing basketball to remember him. This will all take place on November 26.
1. BASKETBALL– for the 24 hours of his birthday on November 26, have people sign up for 1-hour increments to play basketball in his honor. You can shoot hoops in your backyard etc. This can be done on an individual basis, so his family and friends all over can participate. I set up a sign up genius for those that are willing to take an hour. During “your hour” I hope that you can take a picture and tag him on social media so we can all see everyone celebrating and playing basketball for him. Here is the link to sign up https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b084ea8ad29a3fd0-birthday
2. Tee Shirts– I created a shirt with his favorite slogan “our way”. They are being sold for $10, with $5 being donated to the scholarship fund that Alexis and Madison, his daughters created. The deadline to order is November 1 so that they can be printed, shipped, and delivered in time to wear on his birthday. Here is the link for the tee shirt https://rpdiamond.com/products/ols/categories/team-darnell
3. DONATIONS– There is an additional option on the t-shirt link to donate to his scholarship fund. Again, $5 from each shirt will go there, but if you would like to donate additional money, that is an easy way to do so. The scholarship will support a Loveland High School student-athlete pursuing a college education who values giving back to their community and has a personal story with cancer.
Every non-profit, place of worship, or charity needs to follow these guidelines to receive FREE or reduced rate advertising or promotion in Loveland Magazine.
Advertising is crucial for a successful community event or fund raiser. If you don’t have enough money to pay for advertising Loveland Magazine can help, however, we must receive something in return. Your return is to prominently recognize and promote Loveland Magazine as your “Media Sponsor” before, during, and after your event.
Applying early broadens our effectiveness in publicizing your event and lessons your cost.
What do you receive?
Loveland Magazine is prepared to provide your non- profit, place of worship, or charity with free or deeply discounted advertising.
What is your obligation?
Your organization will provide Loveland Magazine with logo recognition in print materials and on websites, priority access such as the first crack at interviews, backstage access, or other perks non-sponsors don’t receive. The Loveland Magazine logo will appear in press releases and event programs. You will plaster the Loveland Magazine logo on tee-shirts, print materials, signage and banners, and your emcee will heap praises on Loveland Magazine on event day. We will receive tickets to the event and reserved tables at the event.
What Media Sponsorship is NOT
Loveland Magazine does not provide editorial coverage. We may be motivated to cover your event or organization as a result of our business relationship with you, however, your sponsorship agreement is with the advertising department, not the editorial side of Loveland Magazine. Loveland Magazine being your “exclusive media sponsor”, does not mean other news outlets will not be welcome to attend and cover your event.
One more note
Our sponsorship is a financial transaction, not a gift or in- kind support from Loveland Magazine to your organization. You are doing business with Loveland Magazine, and we don’t look at you as a charity, even though you may be a registered charity. This is a business opportunity and both parties can expect something in return.
How to apply for FREE advertising
Please do this during your very early planning and not as an afterthought. The benefit to your organization is that you will receive more publicity the earlier both parties come to an agreement on what each will receive in return. If you approach the date of your event and advertising or promotion in Loveland Magazine is a mere afterthought it benefits neither party and you may be asked at the late date to pay our normal advertising rate.
Send an email to lovelandmagazine@cinci.rr.com with the who, why, where, and what – and a description of what your organization is offering in return for FREE or reduced rate advertising.
Loveland Magazine retains the right to reject any and all advertising inquiries.
Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland community will be hosting a benefit at Zappz Sports Bar and Grill for Loveland native Andy Attinger on July 28th.
Last April 22nd at around 2:30 AM a fun-filled night turned into nothing short of a disaster when a 2016 Kia crashed directly into the side of Zappz Bar and Grill severely injuring innocent bystander Andy Attinger. Andy suffered a fractured ankle, fibula and tibia, 4 broken ribs, a punctured lung, multiple broken vertebrae’s, and a broken pelvis due to the horrendous accident.
Andy, only 33 years old, has put up a courageous fight post-accident recovering successfully from his surgery that occurred only a few days after the accident in which plates, rod and pins were placed in both legs and ankles as well multiple screws in his pelvis. Andy is well known for his fun-loving personality and his resilient devotion to his community and his family.

The Andy Attinger Benefit on July 28th at Zappz Bar and Grill is expected to not only raise a significant amount of money for Andy and his girlfriend Dana Nichols , but to also celebrate his recovery.
The benefit will be hosted from 1 to 6 PM and will include a silent auction, raffles, split the pot, live entertainment, and a corn hole tournament.
For those who cannot make it to the benefit a friend of Andy, Ty Erin, organized a Gofundmerecovery fund for Andy and his family, in which anyone wanting to support the cause can donate to. Ty set a goal of raising 5,000 dollars for the family and in just 2 months 61 people have donated 3,915 dollars.

With less than two weeks until the benefit friends of Andy hosting the benefit are still looking for basket donations. Join us this Saturday as we come together in support of Loveland Canoe & Kayak Manager Joey Oberholzer. Joey has worked for our family for five years. For those of you who have been to our livery, you know Joey is the heartbeat of Loveland Canoe & Kayak.
On July 10th after hanging out with friends Joey was on his way home when he took a serious fall, fracturing his spine and neck. He underwent 2 major surgeries, one to fix his fractured neck and another to stabilize and repair his spine. His doctors said that it is remarkable he survived the fall and subsequent surgeries. He spent about a month working hard at the Drake Center with his doctors and therapists and has recently returned home.
Although this accident was a terrible tragedy, we know that Joey will not let it define him. He will fight ever day to get stronger, and with help from his family, friends, doctors, nurses, physical therapists and generous donors, he will move forward and create a brilliant life.
Joey’s expenses will be major, including rehab, therapy and modifying his home for his new mobility needs. Our goal is to raise money to cover expenses that are not covered by insurance. We hope that you can join us and support Joey.
