Here are the different snow alert levels so you can be winter ready. A Winter Storm Watch has been issued by the Hamilton County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency.

    Calling all 3rd, 4th & 5th graders. The Hamilton County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency’s 6th Annual #SevereWeather Poster Contest has kicked off and they want your submissions.

    The 1st place winner will get the chance to report the weather with WCPO’s Steve Raleigh. The 2nd place winner will receive a disaster preparedness kit from American Red Cross.

    Contest Rules

    1. Entry is open to all Hamilton County elementary school students in GRADES 3, 4, AND 5 in public, private, and charter schools, as well as any students being homeschooled.
    2. Poster theme should depict what severe weather in Ohio means to the student and/or what actions to take to prepare and stay safe.
    3. Creativity is the key. Individual work is encouraged. Posters with stencils, traced, computer- generated or commercially manufactured stick-on lettering or images will be disqualified.
    4. Poster should be no larger than 11”x14.” Those larger than the identified size may be disqualified.
    5. Students should use only crayon, markers, colored pencils, or watercolor/acrylic paint.

    When creating your poster, focus on one of the following themes:

    • Severe weather in Hamilton County
    • Snow Emergencies
    • Tornadoes
    • Hail
    • Flooding
    • Importance of Siren/Warning Alerts
    • Preparedness (kits, emergency plans)
    • Extreme Heat
    • Pet Protection During Disasters

    Hamilton, County, Ohio – The Hamilton County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (EMHSA) has started conducting maintenance on the Outdoor Warning Siren System. You may hear occasional and brief siren soundings in your area.

    PPE donations still needed locally to help nurses and first responders that are on the front lines

    Hamilton County, Ohio – The Southwest Ohio region’s healthcare professionals and first responders need your help to protect them as they work tirelessly to treat and fight the COVID-19 outbreak. To alleviate the strain on the region’s healthcare system, Hamilton County Emergency Management and Homeland Security Agency (EMHSA) is requesting donations of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). The specific need of the County is: N95 masks, surgical masks, disposable splash gowns, and exam gloves (latex-free preferred, but all unopened boxes of gloves will be accepted).

    Specific industries that may be able to assist include: dental offices, veterinary offices, construction companies, hair salons and beauty supply stores. If you are able to donate, please call 513-263-8200 for donation drop-off location and additional information. Phone lines are monitored Monday-Friday, 8 AM-5 PM. If the phone is not answered, leave a message with your name & contact information, and your call will be returned as soon as possible.
