    National Merit Scholarship Program Names Three LHS Seniors as Commended Students

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland City School District has announced that Loveland High School (LHS) Seniors Abigail Docter, Tyler Gray and Sophia Muirwho have been named Commended Students in the 2019 National Merit Scholarship Program. Commended Students placed among the top 50,000 scorers of more than 1.6 million students who entered the competition by taking the 2017 Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT).

    “The recognition is a testament to the academic ability of these amazing students who stand among the best of the best in the nation,” said LHS Principal Peggy Johnson. “We are thrilled and congratulate them all on this fantastic accomplishment!”

    Established in 1955, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation (NMSC) is a not-for-profit organization that operates without government assistance. It was established for the sole purpose of managing the National Merit Scholarship Program. Scholarships are underwritten by NMSC with its own funds and by approximately 420 business organizations and higher education institutions that share NMSC’s goal of honoring the nation’s scholastic champions and encouraging the pursuit of academic excellence. Although Commended Students do not continue on in the scholarship competition, they are recognized for exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying test used for program entry.

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland Womens Soccer team sits at 6-0-1 (2-0-1 conference) after tying 2-2 in a game versus Milford. Leading the way for Loveland are Seniors Brooke Harden and Lauren Williams. Harden has 4 goals and 5 assists in 7 games this season while Williams has 3 goals and 3 assists this season in 7 games. Their next game is on
    Tuesday September 18th at home versus Withrow at 7 PM. With the tie, they fell to 2nd in conference standings to #1 Turpin (3-0, 4-4). The team is now #3 in the country in the USA Today Super 25 Expert Rankings. This was before the tie with Milford.

    Loveland Forward Lauren Williams had her header blocked early in the match against Milford.

    The Loveland Mens Soccer team sits at 6-2 (2-1 conference). Leading the way for Loveland are Seniors Andrew Hartman and Aiden Kopek. Hartman has 2 goals and 5 assists in 5 games while Kopek has 4 goals in 3 games this season. Their next game is Thursday September 20th at Withrow (0-2, 2-3) at 7 PM.

    The Loveland Womens Cross Country team placed 3rd out of 18 teams at the Mason meet on September 8, beating out Ursuline, Springboro and many others. Leading the way for the Tigers are Freshman, Jessie Gibbins, who ran a 19:47.0 at the meet and Sophomore, Ellie Carr, ran a 19:52.0 at the meet. Their next meet is at Centerville on Saturday September 22nd.

    The Loveland Mens Cross Country team placed 10th out of 27 teams at the Mason meet. They placed higher than Centerville, St.Xavier (B), to name a few. Leading the way for Loveland are Senior Greg Ballman who ran a 16:46.4 at the meet. Also for Loveland Freshman, Ryan Chevalier, ran a 17:32.8 at the meet. Their next meet is Saturday September 15th at Milford at 9 AM.

    Sam David named Grand Marshal of 2018 Homecoming Parade

    Loveland, Ohio – In announcing that Sam David will be the Grand Marshal of the 2018 Loveland High School Homecoming Parade, Loveland Athletic Boosters’ Parade Coordinator Tori Morrison said, “As you know Sam has done a lot for our schools and community and we look forward to honoring him.”

    The Parade is on Thursday, September 13 at 6:30 PM. The Homecoming game will be on Friday, September 14 at 7 PM vs the Withrow Tigers.

    Grand Marshal Sam David has lived in Loveland since 2009 and had two kids graduate from Loveland High School.

    Booster President Jeff Williams said, “Sam David has been the most generous person I know in dealing with the community and the students of Loveland. Sam has donated hundreds of hours to our community in volunteer hours and also personal investments over the years. Sam is all about Loveland.”

    David began working for Larosas at the age of 16 and became General Manager of the Loveland store in 1985. In 1989 he became one of the owners. Since then he has joined his brother in owning six locations. He is on the Little Miami River Chamber Alliance Board of Directors.

    Upon hearing about the choice of Grand Marshal, Loveland School Superintendent Amy Crouse said, “Sam is a great choice. He genuinely cares about the whole Tiger experience for our students and staff.  He is one of our biggest cheerleaders both academically and in sports.”

    David will be honored at halftime of the Homecoming Game with this statement:

    He has served the Loveland Athletic Boosters as Director of Banner Sales, and more recently spent four years as 2nd Vice President. He has mentored countless kids over the years and is always willing to give of his time. He is currently a part of the Building Tiger Nation Committee.
    Over the years he has made many donations to Loveland athletics and other activities. He and Michelle Petit are major donors to both the Tiger Turf and the Fitness Center. We as a community cannot thank Sam enough for all he has done and continues to do.
    Please join us in honoring Sam David who is accompanied by his granddaughter Charli Jo.

    The Parade starts at the Moose Lodge Hall on East Loveland Avenue, continues on West Loveland Avenue, to Rich Road, and ends at #1 Tiger Trail at Loveland High School. The annual Powder Puff football game will be held at Tiger Stadium immediately following the parade.

    “Sam works for the betterment of the Tiger experience for all students. He treats all students with kindness and respect,” said Loveland High School Principal Peggy Johnson.

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland Womens Soccer team has gotten off to a great start with a 5-0 (2-0)record. This past Saturday they traveled to Ryle, and won 4-0. Leading the way for the Tigers is Senior Brooke Harden with 4 assists and 2 goals in 4 games. Harden just surpassed the most assists in school history (at 47)  and will be looking to extend that record which was 45. Also for the Tigers, Senior Lauren Williams has started off strong scoring 2 goals in the first four games. Williams also has 2 assists through the first four games. The Tigers traveled to and defeated Kings 3-0 on Tuesday September 4. Their next match is Saturday at home against Sycamore. The game is at 5 PM.

    Loveland Womens Soccer now #2 in the Country in USA Today…

    The Loveland Mens Soccer team currently sits at 3-2 (0-1 conference). Last Thursday the Tigers took on Anderson at their home. The game went back and forth but at the end it was Anderson on top with a score of 6-5. Loveland’s Aiden Kopek and Helga Harris scored twice and Keith Broermann scored once. On Saturday the team visited La Salle and won 2-1. Leading the way for the Tigers this season has been Senior Keith Broermann who has scored 3 goals in 3 matches. Their next game is Thursday (9/6) at home vs Kings at 7 PM.

    The Loveland Womens Volleyball team currently sits at 7-0 (3-0 conference) to start the season. Leading the way for the Tigers is Senior Ashley McDonald who has 66 kills, 57 diggs, and 5 blocks on the season. Also leading the way for Loveland is Senior Marie Plitt who has 53 kills, 60 diggs, and 12 blocks on the season.

    The Tigers continued their undefeated season with a 3-0 win at home over Walnut Hills on Tuesday. They compete again at 7 PM Thursday at Turpin.

    Loveland Womens Soccer now #2 in the Country in USA Today Super 25 Poll

    Loveland High School Tigers Womens Soccer moved from #10 to #2 after the second week of the USA TODAY High School Sports and United Soccer Coaches polling. Portland Jesuit (Portland, OR) moved up one spot to take over as #1 team in the nation.

    Ashland (Ashland, OH) #11 and Walsh Jesuit (Cuyahoga Falls, OH) #19 are the only other Ohio team in the top “Super 25 Expert Ratings”.

    Since the ratings were compiled, Loveland has put up another win, beating Kings Tuesday on the Knights field, 3-0. The Tiger Women next play on Saturday at Tiger Stadium when they host Sycamore (3-0-1).

    “Each week USA TODAY High School Sports and United Soccer Coaches (formerly NSCAA) will release Super 25 Regional Girls Spring Soccer Rankings. Rankings are based on results from the 2018-19 season, quality of players and strength of schedule. Regions are determined by the United Soccer Coaches.”

    Emma Dickman was “Bashful” in the Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs float today in the Loveland High School Senior Parade. She is waving at the 1st graders she has spent so much time with throughout her senior year as part of the Teaching Professions Academy.

    Loveland, Ohio – These photos were taken this morning as the Annual Senior Parade passed the campus of the Loveland Primary and Elementary schools.

    In many of the photos, you will see 1st graders holding signs. The posters were for Emma Dickman who was in the parade. This past year she has spent countless hours in Ms. Miller’s classroom teaching. Dickman is part of the academic pathways, Teaching Professions Academy at Loveland High School and will attend Ohio University in the fall.

    Loveland High School wins ECC All Sports Trophy

    The Loveland Tigers have won the 2017-2018 Eastern Cincinnati Conference All Sports Trophy. This is the Tigers fourth trophy in the last six years. Turpin finished second; the Spartans won the award for two years from 2014-2016. Final standings in the All Sports Trophy competition can be found HERE.
