    ECC Names Former LHS Athletic Director Assistant Commissioner!

    Loveland, Ohio – Last Friday the Eastern Cincinnati Conference made quite the “Tiger” announcement when they named Jeff Zidron as the new Assistant Commissioner. Zidron was the former Athletic Director for both Loveland and Indian Hill High Schools. Currently, Zidron is an administrator for the Milford School District.

    The ECC referred to Zidron as one of the “founding fathers” of the ECC and said that both Zidron’s experience and expertise will help the ECC continue to be one of the premier conferences in Ohio.

    “I can’t wait to work with Jeff again in his new role,” ECC Commissioner Ray Spicher said, “I have the utmost respect for him as a person and as a professional educator. Look for great things as the ECC expands to 10 teams this year.”

    Eastern Cincinnati Conference Holds a “Slogan Contest!”

    Loveland, Ohio – Calling all student-athletes, coaches, parents, and fans! The Eastern Cincinnati Conference (ECC) recently announced that they will be going through somewhat of a league transformation. In addition to adding three new schools, Little Miami, Winton Woods, and Lebanon, to the ECC for the 2020-2021 sports season they are also looking to add a new conference slogan.

     

    The ECC stated that they would love to bring more awareness and reach to the conference’s brand so the conference decided to have students, coaches, and fans submit slogan ideas. The ECC selected the top 4 slogan ideas and posted them on the ECC website so that anyone and everyone could vote on their favorite slogan! Below are the top 4 slogan selections.

    1.  Engage.  Compete.  Conquer

    2.  Excite. Challenge.  Compete.

    3.  Eastern Cincinnati Conference … top-level competition with community-based values.

    4.  Engagement.  Competition.  Community.  We are the ECC!

    Loveland, Ohio – The holidays are here and so is Loveland High School’s winter sports season! Thus far LHS’s winter athletics have begun their season with a bang so what better way to showcase these talented Tiger coaches and student-athletes then to bring to you part 2 of the Loveland sports 411!

    Men’s Wrestling

    The Men’s Wrestling team started off their season with a dual victory at Sycamore on December 5th, winning 49 to 25. The Tigers won 9 out of the 14 matches! Check out the moments captured from the big win at Sycamore below!

    The Tiger Wrestlers will be in action again on Thursday against Harrison at home.

    Men’s and Women’s Swimming/Diving

    The Men’s and Women’s Swim and Dive team kicked off their season at Sycamore on December 3rd and December 7th for the Sycamore High School Invitational. The Tigers had both impressive dives and freestyles! Nami Cannon took first place in the 100 Butterfly and the Women’s dive team consisting of Sydney Keil, Shelby Cline, Kali Egan, and Morgan Eversole also collected some very impressive results!

    The Men’s Swim and Dive team also produced some impressive results at Sycamore! Some of the Tiger top performers were Jackson Farrell who swam in the 500 Freestyle and the Men’s 200-yard medley team which consisted of Carle, Jenkins, Ferrill, and Bacanurchi.     The Men’s and Women’s Swim/Dive Team competed at Walnut Hills on Tuesday, December 10th, in which we will bring you the results when we receive them, and will be swimming back into action on Tuesday, December 17th at New Richmond at 4 PM.

    Men’s Bowling

    The Loveland Men’s Bowling Team has been bowling away the competition, improving their record to 4-1 in the ECC and 5-1 overall! The Tigers are currently in 2nd place in the ECC. On Tuesday, December 3rd the Tigers took on Kings at Mason Bowl grabbing a win with a score of 2480 to 2307. Below are Loveland’s stats from the competition.

    The Men’s Tiger’s Bowling Team faced Kings again on Wednesday, December 4th at Crossgate Lanes. The Tiger’s bowled their hearts out but unfortunately lost 2571 to 2538. Loveland competed again on Wednesday, December 11th bouncing back with a big win against Walnut Hills, 2463 to 1851. Below are the results from the Tiger’s win against Walnut Hills as well as some action shots!

    The Men’s Bowling team will compete again today against Walnut Hills at 3:30 PM at Stone Lanes and on Sunday for the Holiday Classic at Western Bowl.

    Women’s Bowling

    The Loveland Women’s Bowling are dominating the ECC holding the 1st place spot with a 5-0 record in the ECC and a 6-0 record overall! On December 3rd and 4th, the Tigers grabbed two wins against Kings with a score of 1929 to 1869 on Tuesday and 2054 to 1811 on Wednesday.     The Tigers are in 2nd place in the ECC for “team average,” holding a solid 700.5, and Tiger bowler Grady Pettit is in 3rd place in the ECC for her individual average, which is a 170.4. The Loveland Women’s Bowling team will compete again today against Walnut Hills at 3:30 PM at Madison Bowl and on Saturday at 9 AM at Western Bowl for the Holiday Classic.

    Academic Team

    The Loveland High School Academic Team has also had a great start to their season improving their record in the ECC to 3-1! On Wednesday, December 4th the Tigers competed at Walnut Hills where they gained both a win and a loss. The Academic Team won 81 to 68 in the first game and lost 77 to 69 in the second game. The Tigers competed again on Wednesday, December 11th at Turpin and achieved two big wins! Loveland won 82 to 51 in the first game and 77 to 57 in the second game. The Academic Team will compete again in the new year on January 8th against Milford at 4 PM.

    Loveland Tigers Sports Teams Continue Their Runs For ECC Titles!

    Loveland, Ohio – As Fall quickly approaches so does ECC postseason tournaments! Loveland High School Tiger teams gave everything they had this week in order to improve their ECC standings and in saying that there were some very impressive league battles! Here’s the Loveland Sports 411 with Cassie Mattia for September 16th through the 22nd!

    Golf

    The Loveland Tigers Boys Golf Team competed in 3 golf meets this week proving that their swings are not to be messed with! Tuesday the 17th the boys went to Wyoming Golf Course where they won 167 to 168 and on Wednesday the 18th they traveled to Mason where the Tigers won 152 to 156. On Thursday the 19th the Tigers went to Friendly Meadows Golf Course to compete against West Clermont and grabbed another victory 154 to 208. The Boys Golf Team is currently in 2nd place in the ECC with a 4-1 record. The Tigers are 9-2 overall. The golf team will continue their successful season on Tuesday the 24th at Ivy Hills against Turpin and then will compete in the ECC Postseason Tournament at Glenview on Thursday the 26th.

    The Girls Tigers Golf Team competed at West Clermont on Tuesday the 17th and pulled out a victory, 192 to 228. The ladies had a great time swinging away the competition as pictured below in these tweets captured by fans of the Tigers!

    The Girls Golf Team will be heading to Hickory Woods on Tuesday the 24th to face Turpin at 3:30 PM and then will turn around and travel to O’Bannon Creek Golf Club to compete against Lakota West and Ursuline at 4 PM. The Tigers are currently 2-3 in the ECC and 2-7 overall.

    Volleyball

    The Girls Volleyball Team had an unbelievable week of competition grabbing two wins, pushing their record to 7-1 in the ECC placing them in 1st place! The Tigers are 12-2 overall. On Tuesday the 17th the ladies played West Clermont in their home gym. The Tigers won all the sets at West Clermont 25-13, 25-21, and 25-12. On Thursday the 19th the ladies traveled to Anderson and claimed another victory again winning in 3 sets, 25-16, 25-21, and 25-21.

    The Girls Volleyball Team hopes to keep their number 1 spot in the ECC this week as they will be playing Kings on Tuesday the 24th at home at 6:30 PM and Walnut Hills on Wednesday the 25th at 6:30 PM at home.

    Tennis

    Another lady Tigers Team that had a really successful week of competition is the Girls Tennis Team who improved their record to 5-1 in the ECC and 15-2 overall. The Tigers now hold the 2nd place spot in the ECC. On Monday the 16th the Girls Tennis Team grabbed a win against Anderson sweeping them 5-0 then the ladies turned around on Tuesday the 17th and claimed another victory against West Clermont beating them 5-0. The Tigers continued their winning streak when they played CCD on Wednesday the 18th beating them 5-0. On Thursday the 19th and Saturday the 21st the Girls Tennis Team participated in the GCTCA Coaches Classic. Although they didn’t necessarily place at the top as a team there were some fantastic performances by the lady Tigers! Freshmen Babs Dwyer and Alex Hytree placed 3rd for Second Doubles and Freshman Maira Hodar placed 3rd in Singles.     The Girls Tennis Team will represent Loveland in the ECC Tournament this week on Tuesday the 24th beginning at 9 AM at Lunken.

    Soccer

    The Boys Soccer Team grabbed both a loss and a win this week. The Tigers still remain number 1 in the ECC with a 4-0 record and an 8-3 record overall! On Wednesday the 18th the Boys Soccer Team went to Centerville to compete unfortunately losing a hard-fought battle 3-1. On Thursday the 19th the Boys answered back with a big win at Withrow beating them 9-0. Out of those 9 goals Emmett Webb pulled off a hat trick (3 goals) all in the first half! The Tigers will face Walnut Hills at their home field on Wednesday the 25th at 7 PM and on Saturday the 28th will play Mason on the Tigers home field at noon.

    The Girls Soccer Team, who currently holds the 2nd spot in the ECC with a 2-1 league record and 5-3 overall record, hosted the 1st Annual LOMO Event Saturday the 21st and Sunday the 22nd. Both Loveland and Mason Girls Soccer Teams came together for this 2-day 10 game event!     The LOMO event started for the Girls Soccer Team at 7 PM on Saturday the 21st when they faced West Jessamine, a 2 time Kentucky State Champion Soccer Team.     The Girls Soccer Team was surrounded by quite the crowd as they claimed a HUGE victory against West Jessamine winning 5-0! Shraya Smolenski was the leading scorer for the Tigers kicking in 2 goals making her now 6th in the ECC as an Offensive Leader. Many action shots were caught on Twitter at the Orange Out!

    The Girls Soccer Team took on Notre Dame Academy Kentucky, another premier Kentucky soccer team, on Sunday the 22nd at 3 PM at the Tiger Stadium and pulled out yet another big win, beating Notre Dame 2-0! The Tigers victory was captured on Instagram by Loveland Athletics below!

    Football

    The Loveland Tigers Football Team battled Friday night at Withrow but unfortunately ended the game with a loss, 39-0.

    After Friday’s game, Tiger Calvin Cloud claimed the 5th spot in the ECC with 518 Offensive Passing Yards! The Tigers will be apart of a very special game on Friday the 27th as it is Loveland’s Homecoming.     Cheer

    In Loveland Cheer news the team will be holding winter cheer mascot tryouts on Wednesday, November 6th from 6 PM to 9 PM and then again on Thursday, November 7th beginning at 6:30 PM. The tryouts will be held at Loveland High School. 

    Cross Country

    The Girls and Boys Cross Country Team put on some great performances on Saturday the 21st at one of the top meets in Ohio, Centerville’s Saturday Night Lights Meet. Leading the way for the girls was Sarah Madix (3rd), followed by Ellie Carr (5th), Jessie Gibbins (6th), Ansley Richards (7th), and Nami Cannon (10th). Rounding out the top 7 were Ally Colegate (16th) and Bella Dillhoff (17th). Below are photos captured from the meet Saturday!

    The Boys Cross Country Team had just as much success at Centerville’s Saturday Night Lights Meet finishing 11th out 23 teams with 335 points! The first finisher for the Tigers was sophomore Ryan Chevalier crossing the finish line for the 40th spot running a 16:35. Chevalier still holds the 4th best time in the ECC after running a 16:28 at the Loveland Invitational. Next Tiger to finish the race was freshman Brady Steiner placing 61st with a 16:52. Steiner ran his personal best time for the year placing him 8th in the ECC with his time! The next Loveland Boys to cross the finish line were senior Kyle Griffin taking the 72nd spot running a 16:59, junior Ajay Stutz in 78th place with a 17:03, senior Alex Ditchen placing 84th with a 17:07, sophomore Sam Neiger placing 89th with a time of 17:08, and rounding up the top 7 Tiger finishers was sophomore Sam Dippold placing 112th with a 17:24. 6 of the Loveland Boys ran seasonal best times placing them in the top 20 in the ECC for their 5k times!

    Loveland High School’s Hanna Wenger and Zach Segal Grab Top Post-Season Awards

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland Tigers have developed quite the reputation in the world of athletics this year, grabbing once again several post-season honors. Now Junior, Hanna Wenger, one of Loveland’s top Women’s Lacrosse players, received The OSLA Division 1 First Team All-State Honors and 2019 Loveland High School grad Zach Segal, a member of the Tigers Baseball Team, received Honorable Mention, SWOBCA All-City Honors.         Segal ended his senior season as a Loveland Tiger with a bang placing very high in the ECC with his individual statistics. Segal pitched 9 games with a 3 and 5 win-loss record, a 46.1 IP, which earned him 3rd place in the ECC, and a 1.5 ERA. Segal earned 3rd place in the ECC for strikeouts as well totaling out with 58 for the season. Segal also received First Team All ECC Honors. Other Tigers who grabbed awards were Carson Deer, who earned Second Team All ECC and Matt Westley, who received Honorable Mention Honors.

        Wenger had an incredible sophomore season as a Loveland Women’s Lacrosse player as the Tigers came in second in the ECC with a 4-1 record in ECC matches and a 13-3 record overall. On top of Wenger’s First Team All-State Honors, she grabbed ECC Player of the Year and OSLA Division I First Team All-Region Honors along with her teammate Carly Wilhoite. Wenger’s teammates Josey Storm earned All-Region Second Team Honors and Maggie Nance received All-Region Honorable Mention.

    Loveland Lacrosse head coach Ryan Hanson

        “Hanna is a phenomenal athlete and has a tremendous passion for the game. The number one thing that everyone always notices about Hanna is that she always has a smile on her face while playing lacrosse. This isn’t an I am goofing off smile, or I am just out here to have fun and not try hard smile. This is the most genuine I love this sport smile,” Loveland head coach Ryan Hanson told Loveland Magazine.

        Wenger was ranked among the top Women’s Lacrosse athletes in the ECC with her offensive statistics. Wenger totaled 44 goals and 26 assists for the season averaging 3.67 goals per game and 2.17 assists per game. Wenger ranked 3rd in the ECC in assists.

        Head coach Hanson also said that Hanna Wenger is the ultimate competitor and whenever given the option at practice she wants to continue playing. He said that the coaching staff jokes that although the practice is “only” 2 hours a night, they don’t think Hanna would complain if they practiced four hours each night. He added that her love for the sport and desire to always want to improve herself shows every moment she steps on the field. “She isn’t just talented in one facet, Hanna is one of the most complete lacrosse players we have ever coached. She doesn’t work to be good in just one area, she wants to master every skill. When you have natural talent, a drive to be the best, and a passion for the game, you get Hanna Wenger.” He said it was no surprise that she was named ECC Women’s Lacrosse MVP, 1st Team All-Conference, 1st Team All-District, and 1st Team All-State both her Freshman and Sophomore years.

        Last December, Zach Segal, signed a National Letter of Intent to play baseball at the University of Cincinnati.

    Columbus, Ohio – The Loveland High School Women’s Track and Field team sent 3 athletes to represent the Tigers at the OHSAA State Track and Field Tournament in Columbus, Ohio over the weekend. Miya Brines, Jordan Morrison, and Kaitlyn Andrews raced their way into the state tournament after placing 5th at the Regional Tournament in the 100-meter hurdles, the 300-meter hurdles, and the 200-meter dash.

    The school held a state tournament send off for Brines, Morrison, and Andrews Friday afternoon. Students, staff and family members showed their love and support for the Lady Tigers in a confetti-covered Loveland High School Fitness Center. Students held up whole made signs and “made some noise” as the 3 track stars enjoyed cookies and words of encouragement from peers, teachers, and coaches.     The three Tigers made their way to the Jesse Owens Stadium at The Ohio State University and competed in their preliminary races on Friday evening.

    Miya Brines, the Tiger’s 100-meter hurdler, ran an outstanding race and not only shattered the school record with a time of 14.72 seconds but also qualified for finals with a 6th place finish. Brines qualifying finish was also her personal best time for the season in the 100-meter hurdles. The previous record for the 100-meter hurdles was held by Gabby Dierling in 2016 with a time of 14.90 seconds.

    Kaitlyn Andrews, who ran a personal best time of 25.06 seconds to qualify to compete in the 200-meter dash, was not able to participate due to an injury she sustained right before the meet.

    Jordan Morrison, who qualified for the 300-meter hurdle state prelims with a personal best time of 45.37, finished her season strong at the state meet running a 46.78. Check out the tweet from one of the many Loveland track supporters that were at the state meet Friday.

    On Saturday Brines made her way down to the track to compete in the finals of the 100-meter hurdles. Brines finished the race with a 14.70, beating her school record and her personal best time. Brines earned a 4th place finish qualifying her to medal on the podium! Those who came to watch the Lady Tigers compete celebrated Brines accolades through tweets on Saturday.
