	Adrianna Boris – Jack You may have seen Adrianna on the LSC stage as Philia in “A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum,” or around town as Rizzo in “Grease” at Mariemont and Footlighters. Other favorite roles have included Julia in “The Wedding Singer,” Cecily in “The Importance of Being Earnest,” and the Witch in “Into the Woods”. Thanks to Micheal and the whole team at LSC for bringing us together for this project!
	Carissa Griffith-Sloan – Foley Artist Carissa is no stranger to the LSC stage. She has appeared onstage in a number of LSC productions including The Drowsy Chaperone (u/s Drowsy), White Christmas (Martha), Young Frankenstein (Frau Blucher), and many others. Another favorite role was Grempkin in Peter and the Starcatcher at Footlighters. Carissa would like to thank her husband, John, for always being her favorite scene partner, and everyone involved with putting this production together.
	David Taylor – Composer, Piano David is a keyboard player who enjoys the challenge of creating great sounds and performing. He has performed for many community theatre companies and high school drama productions in the Cincinnati and Northern Kentucky areas including several CMT productions. Favorite shows he has performed in and created the sounds for include The Producers, Young Frankenstein, The Toxic Avenger, Seussical the Musical, Big Fish, and Shrek. By day, David is a Financial Analyst for Coesia managing the forecasts and budgets for all of the North America, Mexico, and South America regions.
	Jacqlyn Schott – Algernon There’s magic in the number three and Jacqlyn couldn’t be more elated to return to Loveland’s stage for the third time as a part of such a fun trio! Three of her favorite past credits include Spider (James and the Giant Peach), Caroline Bramble (Enchanted April), and directing Ordinary Days. This fall, Jacqlyn will be reprising the role of director for Little Shop of Horrors and hopes you’re already planning on return visits to LSC so “you too can be a star!” As always, she thanks her loved ones for their never-ending support.
	Jill Gornet – Lane/Merriman Jill is excited to be co-producing Gypsy, which is one of her favorite musicals. She was co-producer for Bugsy Malone, Jr., Don’t Drink the Water and A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum. Jill won an Orchid as the producer of The Drowsy Chaperone. She was last seen on-stage at LSC in Memphis (Clara/ensemble), White Christmas (quintet/ensemble), Will Rogers Follies (quartet) and Fiddler on the Roof (Rifke/ensemble). Retired from USPS, she sings with Sharonville Chorus at retirement/assisted living homes. Jill would like to thank her family and friends for their love and support.
	John Sloan – Gwendolen John is back once more at Loveland Stage Company. He has appeared in too many LSC shows to list them all, but favorites include: Young Frankenstein (Igor), Oklahoma! (Jud Fry), Thoroughly Modern Millie (Ching-Ho), and The Producers. He last appeared in The Drowsy Chaperone (Gangster #1) which was directed by his lovely wife, Carissa, and has directed the recent LSC productions of A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum and Don’t Drink the Water. Thanks to Micheal for this opportunity. Enjoy the show and thank you for supporting the arts!
	Joshua Marcus – Miss Prism This is Joshua’s first performance with Loveland Radio, but has previously been seen on stage in, The Drowsy Chaperone (George) and Cole, An Entertainment (Performer). He is excited to be a part of another amazing Loveland production. Joshua would like to thank his wife, Leah, and his children, Hanna and Samuel, for their love, support.
	Melinda Murray-Hubbard – Chausible Melinda is glad to be back once again with LSC after performances in Cole, An Entertainment and The Drowsy Chaperone. She has also recently been seen as Sponge in Bart’s Bards’ James and the Giant Peach, and was a costume assistant for the LSC production of Bugsy Malone, Jr. Dr. Hubbard is always up for something new, and this show fits the bill! She thanks her incredible family for supporting her and the amazing folks at LSC for this opportunity. Ya’ gotta get a gimmick!
	Thomas Cavano – Lady Bracknell Tom has been involved with community theater in the Cincinnati area for over 30 years. He first performed with LSC in 2008 (The King and I). Since then, he has performed in numerous LSC productions, directed three award-winning shows (Spelling Bee, The Producers, and Young Frankenstein), co-produced many shows, the most recent being Memphis, and has taken an active role in off stage work including set construction, design, decor and stage crew.
	Vincent Eldridge – Cecily Vincent has thoroughly enjoyed being a part of this genderswapped version of The Importance of Being Earnest. He has been seen on stage as Gangster #2 in The Drowsy Chaperone at LSC, as part of the Octet in Sweeney Todd with Queen City Productions, as was in the Gender Bender last October with Mason Community Players. When he’s not on stage, he enjoys learning the art of lighting and was the lighting designer for The Little Mermaid and Sorry, Wrong Number/The Hitch-Hiker. Outside of theatre he spends his free time painting and trying his best at woodworking. He’d like to give a shout out to the rest of the cast, the crew, and the director for making this a wonderfully fun experience!

	Bob Kessler – Tech Director Bob works as both a Director of Photography in the regional video community, and as an artist at Kessler Studios, a Loveland-based stained glass and mosaic firm. Bob has served as the Lighting Chair for the Loveland Stage Company since 2013, and has volunteered as Lighting Director on many plays at LSC: Cole: An Entertainment, Memphis, 9 to 5, Jekyll & Hyde, Fiddler On The Roof, I Remember Mama, Oklahoma!, and The Producers.
	Charlie Rader – Camera Operator
	Dave Bauer – Audio Director The webmaster of LSC’s award-winning website, Dave brings a lifetime of passion for all things music, sound and photography. By day, Dave works in schools in Southwest Ohio maintaining computer systems and making sure teachers have the technology they need. By nights and weekends, Dave is the owner of Technology Concierge Services and is the sound designer for two local bands. This is Dave’s first involvement in an LSC production.
	Greg Smith – Lighting Design An Orchid award-winning Lighting Designer, Set Designer and Producer, Greg always enjoys doing lighting design for a musical at LSC. The opportunities for creativity are endless when working with such a talented cast and crew.
	Micheal Harris-Kiser – Director Micheal is a multiple award-winning director, actor, and set designer. Studying acting at The American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Micheal has pursued his passion for theatre in various fields. He is co-founder of Stage and Steel in Pittsburgh, PA. He has performed with many groups throughout the city. His set designs have graced many a stage. He serves as secretary for the LSC board, as well as secretary for The Greater Cincinnati ACT board. He is extremely happy to bring this great musical to you.
	Nancy Hartman-Downing – Camera Operator Nancy has been Owner/President of Cleveland Specialties Company since 1986, which designs and manufactures paperboard and plastic packaging products for the food and dairy industry. Her experience is in administration, sales, accounting and computer technology. She holds a B.A. in Business Administration from Baldwin-Wallace College. She currently serves as President for Loveland Woman’s Club. Nancy has been involved with LSC since 2006 doing fundraising, photography, publicity, ticket sales, program ad sales, as well as serving on the Board of Directors as Treasurer. She enjoys working with such a talented group and looks forward to continuing her involvement into the future.

The Covid-19 pandemic has hit all of us very hard. Among those most impacted have been the people of the entertainment industry – actors and actresses, musicians, performing artists of all types. Also affected, those behind the scenes, riggers and stagehands, lighting and sound designers, makeup and costume designers, carpenters, electricians and all those who make the art of live performance possible.

Their desire to “get back at it” is fierce. They love doing what they do.

Everyone involved in Loveland Stage Company counts ourselves among those mentioned above. And while our “day gig” may or may not have been as seriously impacted, our desire to “get back at it” is strong.

Out of the lemons of the Covid-19 pandemic, Loveland Stage Company proudly brings you LSC Radio! While we can’t be on stage performing live for you right now, we can bring performances that hearken back to the “good old days” of radio broadcasts. In addition, we’ll have video cameras rolling so you can see our “broadcast” as it happened. We can continue to maintain social distancing and other best practices required these days and still perform for you!

Loveland Stage Company will bring you a new production in both audio only and video with audio approximately once a month. But we’re not doling it all out at once! Oh, no. Each Act of our production will be released once weekly (we anticipate on Friday) for your weekend viewing/listening pleasure! All productions will be listed below and accessible from here or the main menu above (under LSC Radio).

The Position

The Loveland Stage Company is seeking a knowledgeable person for the position of Treasurer. Starting not later than October 1, 2020.

Background

The Loveland Stage Company (LSC) is a non-profit, 501(c)(3) corporation with annual revenue in excess of $100,000. The organization is dedicated to serving our community by providing quality theater and performing arts experiences. The group has been in existence for over 40 years and operates out of a historic building in the picturesque town of Loveland, Ohio. The group produces 4-5 major plays a year, as well as hosting a summer youth-camp program and a Christmas Show. The all-volunteer company is full of talented, dedicated and fun people who all share a passion for live theater.

Job Description

The Treasurer is responsible for providing financial direction to and maintaining the financial books and records for the Loveland Stage Company. The Treasurer is an appointed member of the Board of Directors. The preferred candidate will have accounting background and skills. Knowledge of non-profits is a bonus!

As Treasurer, you will have these tasks
1. 1. Maintain the financial books and records of the Loveland Stage Company. (QuickBooks is the financial software used, and a copy is provided.)
    
    Disburse funds for all expenses (usually via online banking).
    
    Present financial position of the Company at monthly Board meetings.
    
    Advise the LSC on annual and per-show budgets to maintain sound fiscal stability of the organization as well as accounting and tax related requirements.
    
    Prepare (or assist) year-end filings for Federal and State agencies, as required by law including Tax Return (Form 990) and 1099s.
    
    Maintain banking and other financially related relationships. (Banking – GE Credit Union, Paypal, utilities accounts, etc.)
    
    Check PO Box at Loveland Post Office about once a week.
Time Commitment

Generally, the position of Treasurer entails a few hours per week making payments and/or deposits and maintain appropriate entries in Quickbooks. Monthly reports are prepared with the accounting software. Board meetings are once a month and generally take about 2 hours. At the moment meetings are Virtual, but eventually the in-person type will resume.

The current Treasurer will be available to help with the transition and can answer questions about procedures. The position “officially” begins on October 1st of 2020, but the transition can start asap.

Loveland Stage Company presents Part 1 of “Old-time Radio Shows”

Loveland, Ohio – Loveland Stage Company will be presenting a series of online streaming performances in the style of old-time radio shows.

The first radio show is “The Importance of Being Earnest” directed by Micheal Harris-Kiser is available NOW! This three-act play was recorded for audio, but we also had the cameras rolling! You can choose to listen to the “Radio” version or the “Video of the Radio show” version on the LSC website: www.lovelandstagecompany.org.

Act One is available now, with Acts Two and Three being released on August 6 and 13, respectively. Stay tuned to “LSC Radio” and enjoy!

Description of Plot
“The Importance of Being Earnest, A Trivial Comedy for Serious People” is a play by Oscar Wilde. First performed in 1895 at the St James’s Theater in London, it is a farcical comedy in which the protagonists maintain fictitious personae to escape burdensome social obligations.

ACT 1: Earnest and Algernon discuss life, love and cucumber sandwiches. Earnest courts Gwendolen, but her protective mother, Lady Bracknell, has other ideas.

Gypsy tickets going fast

Loveland, Ohio – Tickets are going fast for Loveland Stage Company’s next production in their 2019-2020 season! “Gypsy” opens March 6 and continues through March 22 at the theatre located at 111 So. 2^ndStreet (Rt. 49) in Loveland.

The well known musical tells the story of Gypsy Rose Lee, the epitome of a “backstage mom”, and her dreams and efforts to get her two daughters to perform onstage. It casts an affectionate eye on the hardships of show business life. The character of the eldest daughter Louise is based on Lee, and the character of June is based on Lee’s younger sister, better known as June Havoc in adult life. Baby Louise is played by Ella Kiel and the adult Louise is played by Bonnie Emmer. Baby June is played by Lauren Fritzche and Sophie Viselhoman portrays Dainty June. Lisa Breithaupt portrays Rose, the mother and Larry Harmon is Herbie, the agent, and boyfriend.

Although the story centers on Gypsy Rose Lee, there is no nudity in the production and it is considered PG.

Jule Styne wrote the music for the show with lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and Arthur Laurents was the librettist. “Gypsy” is loosely based on the 1957 memoirs of Gypsy Rose Lee, “Gypsy: Memoirs of America’s Most Celebrated Stripper”. The production is under a license agreement with Tams-Witmark.

Familiar songs in the show include “Some People”, “Let Me Entertain You” and of course, “Everything’s Coming Up Roses.”

Bonnie Emmer who portrays Louise in Loveland Stage Company’s “Gypsy” sungs “Little Lamb.” The show opens March 6 and continues through March 22.

Micheal Harris-Kiser is directing the production with Marjory Clegg as choreographer, Brian Harvey as Vocal Director and Jeanne Bilyeu as Orchestra Director.

Performances are at 7:30 PM on March 6, 7, 13, 14, 20 and 21 and at 3 PM on March 8, 15 and 22.

An ASL Interpretive Performance will be on March 8 at 3 PM

Loveland Stage Company opens Gypsy March 6

Loveland, Ohio – Before the set for “Cole” was actually put away auditions were held for “Gypsy”, the next production in Loveland Stage Company’s 2019-2020 season. With music by Jule Styne, lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by Arthur Laurents, the show is loosely based on the 1957 autobiography of Gypsy Rose Lee, the famous striptease artist. The story mainly focuses on the mother, Rose, whose name has become synonymous with ”stage door Mom.”

In the photo above is Larry Harmon as Herbie and Lisa Breithaupt as Rose rehearsing for the next Loveland Stage company production of “Gypsy” which opens March 6 and runs through March 22.

Michael Harris-Kiser is directing the production along with Marjory Clegg as choreographer. Brian Harvey and Jeanne BIlyeu are Vocal Directors.

“Let Me Entertain You” and “Everything’s Coming Up Roses” are two of the most popular songs from the musical which has had four revivals on Broadway, a Tony Award in 1989 and has been made into a movie, “Gypsy” in 1962 starring Natalie Wood and a made for TV movie in 1993 starring Bette Midler.

The production is being presented with arrangements by Tams Witmark and will open March 6 and continue through March 22. Sunday matinees will be at 3 PM and Friday and Saturday shows will begin at 7:30 PM.

The Sweetheart of Ohio Prepares for a Very Festive “Christmas in Loveland!”

Loveland, Ohio – It’s beginning to feel a lot like Christmas….in Loveland! The Little Miami River Chamber Alliance is calling all Christmas fanatics to come and enjoy a beautifully decorated City of Loveland winter wonderland this Saturday, December 14th beginning at 4 PM!

Visitors will have the opportunity to take a carriage or a train ride as well as take part in complimentary tastings, festive crafts, and holiday beverages. Historic Downtown Loveland will feature some incredible Christmas entertainment at some of the local historic hot spots. Loveland City Hall will be transforming into “Whoville at City Hall” while the Loveland Stage Company will be offering free Christmas in Loveland shows at 5 PM, 6 PM and 7 PM. There will be several other Christmas spectacles in the center of town next to the live nativity scene and inside many of Loveland’s local businesses.

CeeCee Collins, President of the Little Miami River Chamber of Commerce, shared what visitors should expect this year at Christmas in Loveland. “There will be so many fun activities such as a caricature artist, singing with carolers, and meeting Elsa & Anna, just to name a few!” Collins added that Christmas in Loveland is truly a great event for many reasons one being that the event gives local businesses the opportunity to give back to everyone that has not only visited Historic Downtown but has made a significant effort to support the local businesses. “They truly appreciate everyone supporting local businesses and I hope they will continue to come back, especially now that all the businesses are re-opened (and more have been built) after the fire.”

Christmas in Loveland will feature different samplings throughout Downtown as well as several give-a-ways that all ages will be able to enjoy! This event will be held in any inclement weather so if you are planning on coming Downtown to celebrate be sure to bring rain and snow gear!

A Few Fun Facts About Christmas in Loveland
- The event takes place from 4-9 PM, Saturday, December 14.
- Train rides will be available at the Loveland Museum Center as well as a trolley that will take guests from Downtown Loveland to the museum.
- Maps of all the activities will be placed inside local businesses and by the clock tower in Downtown Loveland.
- The back portion of Railroad Avenue will be closed for horse-drawn carriage rides.
- You can line up for carriage rides on Railroad Avenue across from Lyle’s Bike’s, Brews & BBQ.
- A Holiday Trolley will be available to transport people to the Loveland History Museum from Harrison Avenue at no charge.
- Entertainment will be held in the center of downtown next to the fountain.

Forty years and going strong, thanks founder, Pat Furterer

It all started when she was eight years old. Patricia Heffelfinger loved to produce plays with the neighborhood kids in Ridley Park, PA. Her love for theatre continued and she was always encouraged by her late husband Fred Furterer who she married in 1954. She continued performing with the Barnstormers in Ridley Park and then with the Battle Creek Civic Theatre in Michigan.

In 1977 Pat and Fred moved to Loveland. Pat went to audition at another local theatre but couldn’t find the address! She came home and told Fred, “I’m starting a community theatre company in Loveland!” And 40 years and 115 shows later, Loveland Stage Company is an active and vibrant part of the community.

The first meeting of the as-yet-unnamed theatre group was in the Furterer’s living room in the Pheasant Hills neighborhood on May 1979. Pat put an ad in the paper inviting anyone interested in starting a community theatre group. Those responding to that first meeting were: Dick and Deirdre Dyson; Betty Rajewski; Kathy and Ron Barrett; Dennis Novak; Roger Goldwire; Steve McGowan; Trish Williams; Diane and “Moldy” Moldenhauer; Kate Camele Arnold; Anne Woolley; John Schneider; Sue Lundy; Sally Housemeyer, Mary Ellen Camele and Kitty Kieffer. Kate Arnold is in the current production of “Cole” and Deirdre Dyson was the artistic director of the most recent production of “Mamma Mia”. Dick Dyson is currently on the board and Sue Lundy and John Schneider are still active members.

After deciding on the group’s name, the first show, “My Three Angels”, was presented in October of 1979 with two shows at the original Loveland Hurst High School on Lebanon road.
The Loveland Kiwanis Club was still active at this time and the two groups joined efforts for a few years. “Bye Bye Birdie” was presented in 1978 and was the final Kiwanis Kaper event.

Pat says the biggest hurdle the group has faced was finding a permanent home. At various times they have performed at the original Loveland Hurst High school, Shields Crossing (a restaurant now closed) Greater Loveland Historical Museum and at Nisbet Park. But they needed a permanent home. They received permission in 1997 from the City of Loveland to have a fundraiser for Loveland Stage company in the abandoned Crist movie theatre with the idea of eventually purchasing the building. “ There were no restrooms and no air conditioning and the building had been inhabited by “critters.” It was a mess” says Pat. The Loveland Fire Fighters Association, a non-profit group, purchased the theatre and leased it to the stage company for $1 a year. After 6 months, they gave the building to the group with certain stipulations. Pat attributes much of this effort to Otto Huber, Assistant Fire Chief at the time, and currently Fire Chief.

October 20, 2008, marked another, and more heartbreaking hurdle. In the early morning hours, a fire started in the upstairs of the theatre and quickly consumed the entire roof. Once again the Loveland Fire Department stepped up and immediately started a fund for repairing the damaged building. Pat remembers friends and neighbors giving her checks for the restoration and especially remembers one little boy who gave her the contents of his piggy bank so the building could be repaired. Peggy Goodwin wrote several grants which also helped with the backing. A campaign to raise funds “Rebuild and Play On” led by Deirdre Dyson helped to bring in necessary funds to get more repair work done. And 13 months later, the curtain opened at the renovated theatre with the Ohio premiere of “Miss Saigon”.

Besides founding the group, Pat has held every board office and is currently President Emeritus. She has also done every job necessary to produce a show from directing to producing to publicity to stage manager, etc. but has never done lighting or sound. Those that know Pat think that if the need was there, she would do that too!

Her all-time favorite role to perform was Mame in Bonnie Schanz’s production of “Mame” and her favorite all-time show that she has directed was the group’s first production of “Fiddler on the Roof” in 1986 with Chuck Wente as Tevye and Jeanne Smearsoll Welsh as Golde.

And in case any of you have heard the rumor, Pat says, “Yes, we do have a ghost! Mr. Crist comes to visit on occasion and loves to mess with our lighting equipment!”

Celebrating 40 years of award-winning, quality community theatre, with special arrangement with Samuel French, Inc. and Derek Glynne, the Loveland Stage Company will present “Cole-An Entertainment – The Life and Fabulous Music of Cole Porter” opening November 1 through 17.

The Mermaid Theatre’s production is based on the words and music of Cole Porter, devised by Benny Green and Alan Strachan, with original music arrangements by Kenneth Moule.

Another Op’nin, Another Show and “Anything Goes”

Loveland, Ohio – “Cole – an entertainment – The Life and Fabulous Music of Cole Porter” is the next production being offered by the Loveland Stage Company which opens November 1. If you love Cole Porter this is a show not to be missed. Selections from 51 of Porter’s songs and lyrics will be featured during the production highlighted by dancers and singers in breathtaking costumes and tied together by narration of his interesting life.

But keep in mind “… this is not a review.” According to director Gregory Carl Smith, “This is a rich, humorous and informative story of Cole Porter’s life told in song, dance, and narrations.” The music including lyrics is all Cole Porter and the script was written by Benny Green and Alan Strachan. It tells the story of Porter’s life from Peru, Indiana to Yale, to Paris, to Manhattan to Broadway, to Hollywood and back to Broadway.

Porter was the creator of 26 musical comedies during the ’20s, ’30s, and ’40s. Some of the more familiar songs from these are “Anything Goes” from the musical of the same name; “Night and Day” from “Gay Divorce;”; “Brush Up Your Shakespeare” and “From this Moment On” both from “Kiss Me Kate”.

Gregory Carl Smith is directing this show with Marjory Clegg as the choreographer, John Nixon as the Musical Director, Chris Lee as Technical Director, and K. Buckler and Pat Furterer as co-producers.

Members of the ensemble which includes singers, dancers, soloists and narrators: are: Kate Arnold, Susan Decatur, Melinda Hubbard, Izy Jones, John Masterson, Dave Marcus, Joshua Marcus, Mike Williams, Missy Fram, Michael Kiser, Norm Lewis, Susan McElroy-Marcus, Sherry Michalak, Adam Peters, Donna Treinen, Phyllis Wene, Ann Barfels, Doug Decatur, Deb Giehl and Bobby Jo Swearingen.

The six-piece orchestra includes Bob Donisi, Becky Jones, Alycia McClurg, Tom McClurg, and Bob Schwartz.

The show opens on Friday, November 1 at 7:30 PM at the theatre at 111 S. 2^ndSt. (Rt. 48), Loveland, 45140.

Other performance dates are November 2, 8, 9, 15 and 16 at 7:30 PM and Sundays Nov. 3, 10 and 17 at 3 PM.

Art Jarvis makes stage debut in Loveland Stage Company’s “Mamma Mia”

Loveland, Ohio – Although he holds many roles in the community (Loveland School Board President, President of Jarvis Global Investments LLC, and is the current season sponsor for the theatre company), Art Jarvis hasn’t appeared on stage since high school, and never with lines to memorize! In high school, he appeared in the ensemble of “Wizard of Oz” and “Camelot” and also was a member of the Cincinnati Boys Choir. But this is all new to him.

When Deirdre Dyson, artistic director, and Steve Kovacs, co-producer approached Art and offered him the role of the priest in their production of “Mamma Mia”, Art was reluctant to accept since he had just had foot surgery and wasn’t sure he could even walk by the opening date of August 15. But he accepted and is now excited and appreciative of the new experience and the chance to make new friends.

He is amazed at the amount of time involved to produce a show, “But it shows” says Art. A typical show calls for an average of 15 hours of rehearsal per week and many weeks might involve more than that during the average 6 weeks to put a show together. Add to that painting the set, making costumes, etc. and you can easily reach over 20 hours per week.

Art says the main reason he accepted this new and challenging experience is that, “Loveland Stage Company is a jewel in Loveland’s crown!”

“Mamma Mia” opens August 15 and runs through the 25.

Curtain goes up at 7:30 p.m. on the 15^th , 16^th, 17^th, 23^rd, 24^th and at 3 p.m. on the 18^th, 24^th and 25^th.

There will be an ASL interpreter at the 3 p.m. show on the 24^th.
