    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland High School Men’s Tennis program hosted their Inaugural “Alumni” Doubles TennisTournament on July 28th at Loveland High School.

    It was a beautiful, sunny day with temperatures in the low 80’s on top of the Loveland High School tennis courts.

    This event included alumni from the class of 2017, 2018 and 2019 as well as current team players. The tournament play consisted of “pro-set” matches (1 set of 8 games). Participants were assigned a doubles partner by a random draw. It was a time to catch up and relive some of their fun times and enjoy some competitive tennis with alumni and current team players.

    Participants for the first annual event were Christian Harris (2017), Nate Richmond (2017), Brendan Hogan (2018), Connor Hogan (2018), Matt Huther (2019), and three current players Eddie Pruitt (2020), Nate Broelmann (2020), and Ethan Libby (2021).

    Doubles teams by random draw were Christian Harris and Connor Hogan, Brendan Hogan and Matt Huether, Nate Richmond and Eddie Pruitt, and Ethan Libby and Nate Broelmann.

    The tournament Champions were the team of Connor Hogan (2018) and Christian Harris (2017).

    Next summer the Loveland Men’s Tennis program looks to host their “Second Annual Alumni Doubles Tournament” and hope to have even more alumni participate and create a charity event around it. It was an outstanding time for all and they encourage more alumni to come out and enjoy the event next year.

    Loveland, Ohio – The Spring Sports season at Loveland High School is nearing a close. Here is a recap and continuing play for each team.

    Men’s Tennis

    Sectionals took place on May 7th at the ATP (Lindner Tennis Center). Advancing from Sectionals to Districts are Senior Captain, Matt Huether and Junior, Alex Ditchen in Men’s Doubles.  Sophomore, Connor Ruble, has a District qualifying match this Friday, 5/10, versus Fairfield. District seeding matches will take place on Saturday, 5/11 at the ATP at 8:30 AM.

    Men’s Baseball

    Baseball hosts Hamilton on May 14th in their First Round Sectional matchup. The team currently sits at 10-11 (5-8 in the ECC) but have won 7 of their last 8 games.

    Women’s Fastpitch

    Fastpitch currently sits at 4-19 (3-9 in the ECC) and look to close out the season strong. They are led by Junior, Katelyn Kramer who is hitting .462 with 5 home runs.

    Track

    Both Men’s and Women’s Track have their ECC Conference meet tomorrow, 5/8 and Friday, 5/10 at Anderson. Loveland looks to win the ECC Championship for the first time since 2017 (Men’s) and for the first time as a program (Women’s).     Men’s Lacrosse

    Men’s Lacrosse currently sit at 4-11 (2-2 in the ECC) and have won 2 of their last 4 games. They are currently tied with Turpin for 3rd in the ECC.

    Women’s Lacrosse

    Women’s Lacrosse currently sit at 10-2 (3-1 in the ECC) and have won 8 of their last 9 games. They currently sit in 2nd in the ECC and look to finish off their regular season on a strong note.

    Loveland, Ohio – The Spring Sports season at Loveland High School is off and running. Traditionally Loveland has had a lot of success in the spring and they look to continue with that success this year. Loveland currently leads by 2 points over Turpin in the All Sports Trophy standings and with each sport being worth 9 points, every point and every sport matters.

    3/31/19 – Update:

    The Men’s Baseball team is currently 2-2 (0-0 in the ECC), Women’s Softball team, 1-3 (0-0 in the ECC), Women’s Lacrosse, 2-1 (1-0 in the ECC), Men’s Lacrosse, 1-2 (1-0 in the ECC), and Men’s Tennis, 0-0 but tied 2-2 in their scrimmage against the number four team in the state (Sycamore).

    This is a big week for sport’s around Loveland as with the end of spring break comes the start of conference play for most sports. Upcoming events this week by day include:

    Loveland currently sits 2 points ahead of Turpin in the All Sports Trophy standings and looks to bring home their 5th All Sports Trophy in seven years.

    4/3/19 – Update:

    Men’s Baseball: Currently, 2-3 (0-1 in the ECC).  The next game is Friday, 4/5 versus Kings at 5:00 PM at home. The team is led by Senior, Zach Segal who has an ERA of 1.56 and has struck out 14 in 9.0 innings pitched.

    Women’s Softball: Currently, 1-4 (0-1 in the ECC).  The next game is versus Taylor on Thursday, 4/4 at 5:00 PM. The team is led by Junior, Katlyn Kramer who is hitting .529 with 4 Home Runs, 1 Double, and 8 RBI’s.

    Men’s Tennis: Currently, 2-0 (1-0 in the ECC), the next match is versus Elder on Thursday, 4/4 at 4:00 PM. The team boasts a lot of experience and looks to bring home an ECC Championship this season.

    Men’s Lacrosse: Currently, 1-3 (1-0 in the ECC), the next game is at Dublin Coffman on Saturday, 4/6. The team is led by Senior, Fitz Dwyer who has 10 goals and 6 assists in 4 games.

    Women’s Lacrosse: Currently, 2-2 (1-1 in the ECC).  The next game is versus Ursuline at 7:00 PM. The team is led by Senior Frannie Cornett and Sophomores Babs Dwyer and Hannah Wenger.

    All of the Spring sports teams look to do their best to win an ECC Championship home and represent their school with respect, responsibility, integrity, and pride.

    Loveland, Ohio – As the Winter Sports season at Loveland High School comes to a close we look at some tremendous postseason runs. Some teams are still active in postseason competition and Loveland Magazine would like to wish them the best with these endeavors and reaching their goals.

    Brandon Day had an exceptional meet at the Boys Swimming OHSAA State Tournament earning 7th place in the 100 meter Backstroke as well as 7th place in the 200 Free. This was Brandon’s 2nd consecutive year making it to the State Tournament and he is only a Junior.

    The Loveland Women’s Basketball team had a great win against Kings, 49-37 in the first round. In the second round, another stellar win, defeating Winton Woods 66-44 earning them a place in the Sectional Finals where they played the number 6 seed, Mercy Mcauley. After a valiant effort by the Tigers, Loveland came up short falling to Mercy Mcauley 51-39.

    Congratulations to Loveland’s Wrestling team. The team is sending 6 members who qualified for Districts: Jacob Cotsonas (120), Richard Mendoza (126), Caelan Quigley (132), Kobi D Milam (145), Blake Poteet (160), and Brock Erdman (220) will represent Loveland. All 6 will compete at the District Tournament on Friday, March 1st and Saturday, March 2nd at Kettering Fairmont High School. Good luck to all.

    Loveland, Ohio – This past Fall Loveland High School Athletics lost two of its distinguished Varsity Head Coaches. Coaches Julie Plitt and Fred Cranford both resigned after their respective Fall sports season due to family reasons. Both have been an integral part of Loveland Athletics since their arrival.

    Coach Plitt led Loveland to a 22-2 record and their second straight ECC Conference Championship this season. Coach Plitt also reached a coaching milestone this season winning her 400th career game as Head Coach. This came in her 21st coaching season against Lakota East with a score of 24-26, 25-23, 25-15, 25-13. Coach Plitt’s coaching career includes 10 years with Reading, 7 years with Wyoming and 4 years with Loveland. In Coach Plitt’s four years with Loveland, she had much success with a 78-20 record.

    Coach Cranford led the Loveland Tigers Varsity Football team for 6 seasons. During his first season as Head Coach, Loveland won the OHSAA Division II State Title as well as the ECC Conference Championship. This was Loveland’s first Division 2 State Title in the school’s history. During Coach Cranford’s 6 seasons at the helm for Loveland, he held a 33-32 record.

    When asked what their impacts were on their respective Programs Loveland Athletic Director Brian Conatser said both were great leaders and were well-respected coaches making big impacts on their team’s success and the Loveland Athletic Department.

    Principal Peggy Johnson said that Cranford stepped down because of the age of his children and because his wife travels for business. He told Johnson, “My kids are of the age, I need to be there for them.” Cranford has three school-age children.

    Two of Plitt’s children will be attending Ball State next year. Marie Plitt will play volleyball and Drew is already playing football there. Johnson said that for Plitt to continue coaching volleyball at the high school level she would miss her daughter’s college career. “It’s very exciting to have children playing college sports, and I understand her choice.”

    Johnson said a timeline for hiring will be established; the positions will be posted and a committee will be put together to evaluate candidates comprised of parents, Athletic Boosters members, Constater, and other coaches outside of the respective sport. Conaster will make a final recommendation to the Board of Education.

    Conaster described both Plitt and Cranford as outstanding leaders of young men and women. “On the court, on the field, they had high expectations of the student-athletes and held them accountable, and obviously with a lot of success.” Conaster mentioned Cranford coaching a State Championship football team and said that no-one can have a conversation about southwest Ohio volleyball without including Loveland and Julie Plitt in the conversation. “We owe both a lot of gratitude for setting the culture in making Loveland High School Better.”

    Cranford will continue teaching physical education at Loveland High School. Plitt teaches health and physical education at Wyoming City Schools.

    Loveland, Ohio – The Fall Sports season is coming to a close for all except one athlete, Freshman Cross Country runner, Jessie Gibbins, competes at the State Championships Saturday at 3 PM in Hebron, Ohio at the National Trail Raceway.

    Jessie’s Coach, Steve Nester, answered some questions for us.

    1) Have you ever had an athlete qualify for state? If so how many?

    I’ve had the good fortune of coaching many runners who have advanced to State Championships as a direct effort of their hard work.  I am exceedingly proud of Jessie for reaching the pinnacle of our sport. She is a wonderful person and runner.

    2) What advice would you give Jessie going into this meet?

    My advice to her would be to simply enjoy the moment.  This is a tremendous accomplishment, especially as a Freshman.  Jessie earned the right to be with the best of the best competing at the Ohio State Cross Country Championship.  

    Jessie got to state by placing 22nd at the Regional Championships running a time of 19:06. 30. Jessie’s PR this season is 18:32.50 and was at the Centerville Saturday Night Lights meet.

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland men and women’s Cross Country teams had strong showings at the ECC Conference meet this past Saturday held at West Clermont. Both teams placed 3rd overall behind Kings and Turpin. Kings and Turpin are ranked Top 20 in the state for both Mens and Womens Cross Country.

    The Loveland men’s Cross Country team placed 3rd (85) at the ECC Conference Championships behind Turpin (41) and Kings (39). The Tigers had arguably their best  “team” race of the season. Team times include:

    Senior, Greg Ballman, 9th overall, time of 16:59.10

    Freshman, Ryan Chevalier, 14th overall, time of 17:06.30

    Sophomore, Ajay Stutz, 19th overall, time of 17:20.91

    Junior, Alex Ditchen, 21st overall, with a time of 17:22.57

    Senior, Thomas Gear, 22nd overall, time of 17:23.18

    Senior, Matt Huether, 24th overall, time of 17:25.50

    Junior, Kyle Griffin, 26th overall, time of 17:27.14

    Their next meet, Districts, will be held at Voice of America Park on Saturday October 20th at 11:30 AM.

    The Loveland Womens Cross Country team placed 3rd (84) at the ECC Conference Championships behind Kings (54) and Turpin (48). Team times include:

    Freshman, Jessie Gibbins, 9th overall, time of 19:38.39

    Sophomore, Ansley Richards, 13th overall, time of 19:51.27

    Sophomore, Ellie Carr, 14th overall, time of 19:51.53

    Senior, Sydney Cree, 23rd overall, time of 20:35.00

    Loveland, Ohio – The Regular Season for most of Loveland Fall Sports are coming to a close and Postseason is just getting started. Some of Loveland’s Fall Sports teams look to have repeat success while others look to finally achieve a milestone after many hours of hard work during the offseason and season.

    Womens Tennis

    Senior, Peyton Beller and Junior, Anna Svitkovich both made it to Districts as Single’s Players. In the District seeding matches Peyton took 2nd and Anna took 3rd. Peyton will begin her District appearance against Beavercreek’s, Julia Bays. If Peyton wins the first round she will play either Xia Lin from Butler or Savannah Allen from Turpin to get to State. Anna will start off against Greenville’s, Natalie Milligan. If Anna advances past the first round she will either play Claire Burns from Wilmington or Caitlin Fisher from Turpin. The District Tournament will begin today and continue on Saturday at the Lindner Family Tennis Center.

    Mens Golf

    The Loveland Mens Golf team finished 5th in Sectionals losing to Anderson by 2 strokes, just missing advancing to Districts as a team. The Mens Golf team does have a member of their team advancing to Districts and that would be Junior, Jeffrey Main. Jeffrey earned Co-Medalist honors at Sectionals shooting a 71 at The Vineyard Golf Course. The District Golf Tournament will be held today at the Beavercreek Golf Club. Jeffrey will be teeing off at 10:50 AM with Alex Gomia of Monroe, Tyler Goecke of Carroll, and Riley Wilcoxon of Bellefontaine.

    Womens Soccer

    The defending State Champion, Loveland Womens Soccer team won the 2018 ECC title with a 6-0-1 record. This was the teams fifth title in the last six years. Their overall record is 11-1-3. The Tigers are #1 in the Cincinnati area coaches pool.

    They will play either Colerain (#20) or Western Brown (#23) on October 20th in their opening round matchup of the State tournament. If they win that game they will play either Sycamore (#9), Middletown (#27), or Withrow (#31). Their next game is a non-conference match Saturday vs Lebanon on Senior Night at 7:00 PM.

    Volleyball

    Currently undefeated in conference play (13-0), Loveland captured its second consecutive ECC championship. The Tigers have won their first 13 ECC matches and sit at 19-1 overall. Their Senior Night is Thursday, October 11 against conference foe West Clermont at 7 PM.

    Their Sectional match-up is vs. Western Hills October 16 at 6:30 PM.

    Football

    The Tigers are #6 in the ECC with a 1-3, 1-6 record. They play at #7 Walnut Hills on Friday at 7 PM. Then they will have 2 games remaining, at Kings on October 19, and their Senior Night is October  26 vs. Anderson.

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland Womens Soccer team sits at 10-0-3 (5-0-1 conference) and has a big game coming up on October 9th at Turpin. Turpin sits at 5-1 in conference and 6-6-0 overall. Leading the way for Loveland is Senior, Brooke Harden, who has 8 goals and 8 assists in 13 games. Another strong leader for Loveland is Junior, Kaitlyn Andrews, who has 3 goals and 7 assists in 13 games. Loveland plays at home against Mount Norte Dame on Saturday October 6th at 7 PM.

    The Loveland Mens Soccer team sits at 9-4 (4-1 conference). Loveland is a half game behind Turpin in conference and looks to take over the conference lead when they play Turpin on October 11th at 7 PM. Leading the way for Loveland is Senior, Aiden Kopek, who has 7 goals and 2 assists in 7 games this season. Loveland is Sophomore, Helga Harris, another leader, has 8 goals in 7 games played. Loveland plays at West Clermont tomorrow night (October 4th) at 7:00 PM.

    The Loveland Womens Tennis team sits at 13-3 (5-1 conference). Loveland had a strong showing at the ECC Conference Championships taking second with 33 points. Loveland Senior, Peyton Beller, leads the way with a 13-6 overall (5-1 conference) record. Peyton was awarded the 3rd seed in the Cincinnati Sectional for her strong play this season. Peyton will start her postseason taking on Eichorn of Oak Hills. Loveland Junior, Anna Svitkovich, also a leader, sits at 11-6 (5-1 conference) on the season. Anna was awarded the 4th seed in the Cincinnati Sectional and will start off against Ramirez of Harrison. Loveland has their Sectionals Tomorrow (October 4th) at the Lindner Family Tennis Center at 8:30 AM.

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland Womens Golf team had a strong showing this past week at the ECC Championships taking 2nd in the Conference finisher. In the Preseason Tournament Loveland took 4th (395) behind Kings (341), Milford (351), and Turpin (378). This time around Loveland took 2nd (360) only behind Kings (343). Loveland was led by Silver Medalist Samantha Skarda (84) and Bronze Medalist Allison Rountree (85). Also for Loveland Erin Dickman shot a 95, Alex Vanderhorst shot a 96 and Kali Egan shot a 109. Their next match is tomorrow, (9/25) at Turpin at Terrace Park Country Club at 4 PM.

    The Loveland Womens Volleyball team also had a great week beating Anderson (3-0) and West Clermont (3-0). The team sits at 13-1 (8-0 conference) and is currently ranked #17 in the state. Loveland is led by Seniors Marie Plitt and Ashley McDonald. Plitt has 129 Kills, 158 Diggs and 35 blocks on the season. McDonald has 161 Kills, 129 Diggs and 13 blocks on the season. McDonald was named Novacare Player of the game in Loveland’s win over Anderson.  During the game she had 9 Kills and 3 Diggs. Loveland’s next game is Tuesday night (9/25) at 7 PM at Kings.
