Loveland, Ohio – During the City Council meeting of June 11, Police Officer Amy Campbell was promoted to the position of Lieutenant in the Loveland Police Department.
Campbell was introduced by Chief Sean Rahe and sworn in by Mayor Kathy Bailey. Her mother put her new badge on her uniform and fellow officer Scott Humphrey pined Lieutenant bars on her collar.
Campbell was hired by Loveland in 2014 and has spent the last five years as a field training officer, evidence technician, bike officer, and crime prevention officer. She began her career in law enforcement with the Springdale Police Department in 2008.

Loveland, Ohio – Alex Burnett was sworn into office on Tuesday, June 11 at City Hall during the council meeting. Chief Sean Rahe introduced Burnett and Mayor Kathy Bailey administered the oath.

Chief Rahe introduced Officer Burnett by stating that he immigrated to the United States from Russia in 2001. Officer Burnett joined the United States Marines thereafter and was deployed to Iraq in 2004. After a seven-month deployment he was assigned to a reconnaissance training where he was deployed to Iraq a second time with a scout team. After four years of service, Alex was honorably discharged from the Marine Corps. Alex put himself through the police academy and was hired by the Ohio State Highway Patrol where he served for the past seven years.

Loveland, Ohio – Who wouldn’t want to learn about a community built on “Love?” Loveland’s Clerk of Courts, Misty Cheshire, and Loveland U Director, Ray Kingsbury, joined Loveland Magazine at the Loveland Magazine TV studio to talk about the program that Mayor Kathy Bailey said, “City Council is committed to finding ways to help our residents understand the decisions we make, become more involved, and connect with the community; this program accomplishes all these goals and more.”
In this interview, you can meet Ray and Misty and understand what they love about Loveland.
Loveland U will be an interactive adult learning environment with minimal lecture time that focuses on finding ways to help Loveland residents understand obtain first-hand knowledge and provide valuable input and feedback into the issues, plans, and activities of the Loveland community.
Loveland U’s purpose is to provide a way for residents to become more involved and connect with the community.

Loveland, Ohio – As of June 6, the local election for elected offices may only be a popularity contest. Neither school board or council races have competition for the number of seats open. There are 3, four-year council at large seats open, and 2 open, four-year terms for the Loveland Board of Education.
Current Loveland Mayor Kathy Bailey and current councilmember Kent Blair have submitted nominating petitions to the Hamilton County Board of Elections (BOE) with sufficient signatures to qualify for the ballot.
Andrew Bateman who ran an unsuccessful race in 2017, picked up nominating petitions, however, he has not yet submitted them to the BOE.
Current Loveland School Board Vice-President Kathryn Lorenz has picked up a packet of petitions to run for one of two open seats, however, she had not yet submitted petitions. No one else had picked up petitions as of June 6.

Loveland, Ohio – Peter Rancatore, Jr. resigned as Loveland’s Finance Director after 68 days on the job.
Rancatore’s first day on the job was June 8, 2018, and he submitted a letter of resignation on August 14 saying his last day on the job would be September 3. Council voted to accept his resignation and a separation agreement at their regular meeting on August 14.
Rancatore said, in part, in the letter to Mayor Kathy Bailey:
Thank you for the opportunity to serve the City Of Loveland. Loveland is an outstanding community with friendly people, excellent leadership, and a great workforce. I have enjoyed my service here immensely and will forever remember the people and their pride in the community. Unfortunately, I have decided to end my employment here to pursue opportunities closer to my family, effective as of the end of the close of business on September 3rd, 2018.
Rancatore formerly served as the Finance Commissioner for the City of Toledo in addition to serving as the Chief Deputy Auditor of Lucas County, Ohio.

Rancatore was hired after previous Finance Director, Kelly Flanigan took the job of Finance Director at Miami Township, Clermont County this past February.
Treasurer Josh Mandel Announces Launch of the City of Loveland Checkbook on OhioCheckbook.com
Loveland, Ohio – Treasurer Josh Mandel announced on April 11 the launch of the City of Loveland’s online checkbook on OhioCheckbook.com. In December 2014, Treasurer Mandel launched OhioCheckbook.com, and for the first time in Ohio history put all state spending information on the internet.
The Ohio Treasurer’s office was joined at the announcement by Loveland Mayor Kathy Bailey, Vice Mayor Robert Weisgerber and City Councilmembers Angie Settell, Ted Phelps, Tim Butler, Neal Oury and Kent Blair.
Loveland is the ninth city in Hamilton County to post their spending on OhioCheckbook.com. Loveland’s online checkbook includes over 33,000 individual transactions that represent more than $89 million of total spending over the past five years.
“I believe the people of Hamilton County have a right to know how their tax money is being spent, and I applaud local leaders here for partnering with my office to post the finances on OhioCheckbook.com,” said Treasurer Mandel. “By posting local government spending online, we are empowering taxpayers across Ohio to hold public officials accountable.”
“We’re excited to allow our residents to take a closer look at how the City spends its’ taxpayer dollars,” said Loveland Acting Finance Director Michelle Byrde.
Mayor Kathy Bailey added. “The City is proud to join the Ohio Checkbook Program, and welcome the financial transparency it offers for interested residents”
OhioCheckbook.com displays more than $644 billion in spending over the past ten years, including more than 173 million transactions. The website includes features such as:
“Google-style” contextual search capabilities, to allow users to sort by keyword, department, category or vendor;
Fully dynamic interactive charts to drill down on state spending;
Functionality to compare state spending year-over-year or among agencies; and,
Capability to share charts or checks with social media networks, and direct contact for agency fiscal offices
Loveland, Ohio – Loveland officials have announced the continuation of their natural gas aggregation program for another two years with IGS Energy as the City’s selected supplier.

Residents and businesses currently participating in the City’s natural gas program will remain in the program unless they respond to the opt-out letter which they should receive on or about January 26.
Newly eligible account holders who receive their gas supply from Duke Energy will also receive a notice from IGS Energy explain the rate formula, terms and conditions, and various means of opting out of the City’s aggregation program. City Hall advises to read the information carefully before making your decision. These accounts will be added to the program unless they opt out as prescribed in the letter.
David Kennedy, City Manager, said, “We have decided to continue with rates that will be set each month, a strategy that has worked well in the previous program. We have structured our program to allow us to convert to fixed-rates if and when we think that is in the best interest of Loveland residents.” Kennedy also pointed out, “This program makes no guarantee of savings and it is completely voluntary.”

Mayor Kathy Bailey said, “we are pleased to offer this program to our residents as another option to manage increasing energy costs. The City was able to negotiate a great feature for our residents and small businesses. Participants will be able to leave the program, at any time for any reason free of charge.”
Mark Burns, President of Independent Energy Consultants, Inc., said, “we are pleased to have designed this program for Loveland and have negotiated a favorable formula for determining future gas rates. Residents should expect to receive a notice from IGS Energy explaining the rate formula, terms and conditions, and various means of opting out of the City’s aggregation program. Please read it carefully before making your decision.”
Doug Austin, Executive Vice President of IGS Energy, said, “Any resident or small business that is currently served by another supplier should also receive a letter inviting them to receive the same rate, but anyone may call IGS Energy at 1-877-353-0162. If residents are served by another supplier, they should be aware of the obligations in their existing contract before joining the program as many suppliers do charge a penalty for early termination.”
The City asks that you do not call the City offices because they are not equipped to handle a large volume of calls. Residents should directly contact IGS Energy toll free at 1-877-353-0162 if they have questions.
