Mark Your Calendars for the 5th Annual McCormickFest! Sat., September 30, 2017
McCormickFest is an annual family-friendly celebration and is open to the public. For Milford’s McCormick Elementaty students and staff, it is considered part of the kick off to the school year.
The event will once again be held at Miami Meadows Park at 1546 State Route 131 in Miami Township.
The run will begin at 3:30 PM and the Family Fun Walk will begin at 3:35 PM, and the festival will last from 4-6:30 PM.
Registration is required for the run and walk, but admission to the festival is free.
The festival features food from Midwest Best BBQ and Kona Ice. Popcorn, cotton candy, games and prizes, inflatables, a local business showcase, music, and more will also be found at the festival.

Milford, Ohio – August 2, 2017—The Greater Milford Area Historical Society (GMAHS), in association with Lykins Energy Solutions, will present the 12th Annual Art Affaire – Milford’s premier art and fine crafts show – on Saturday, September 23, 11 AM until 5 PM. This event is free and open to the public and will be held, rain or shine, on a closed three-block section of Main Street (U.S. Route 50) in historic Milford, Ohio 45150.

Art Affaire continues to expand, and this year’s event will feature 115 local and regional artists. “Each year we work on improving Art Affaire based on feedback and recommendations from our sponsors, artists and the local community,” said Donna Amann, administrator, GMAHS. “This will be our third year on Main Street, and we’re delighted to return to this historic venue. The added benefit of the local shops and restaurants adds to the charm of this popular community event.”
The 2017 Art Affaire will include 40 percent new artists. “We certainly welcome our returning artists,” comments Mary Ward, artist coordinator, Art Affaire. “And, we are pleased that the show’s reputation is attracting a growing number of entries, which helps us present a line-up that is continually new and fresh for visitors.”
“I want to congratulate GMAHS on an excellent art show,” comments 2016 Art Affaire artist, Lisa Inglert. “I wish every art show could be just like this one. GMAHS wins my award for one of the most organized and smoothly run art shows that I have ever participated in – and, I had terrific sales on top of it.”
The 12th Annual Art Affaire will feature:
A record-breaking115 juried local and regional artists exhibiting and selling original works in painting, drawing, photography, paper, collage, ceramics/clay, sculpture, wood, glass, mosaics, mixed media, jewelry, wearable art, fiber art, and basketry.
A number of demonstrating artists, including the Ohio Valley Woodturners Guild; Wade McCarren and O’Neal Johnston, wood carving; June Ludwick, pine needle baskets; Elizabeth Kindle, basket weaving; and more.
A variety of strolling musical entertainment including Civil War guitarist, Steve Ball; the Roaring 20’s Barbershop Quartet; and, the Ladies Living History Group.
Local radio station, WOBO 88.7 FM, broadcasting live from Art Affaire.
Food by 20 Brix, Lehr’s Prime Market, Padrino Italian and Tickled Sweet; and wine and beer from Lehr’s Prime Market. The event will feature two hospitality tents where visitors can relax and enjoy refreshments.
An expanded Community Cultural Tent featuring local and regional arts-related organizations including Artsy Fartsy, Cincinnati Art Museum, Clermont Chorale, Clermont County Public Library, Historic Milford Association, Milford Public Library, and Milford Theatre Guilde. The Ohio Arts Council helped fund the Community Cultural Tent with state tax dollars to encourage economic growth, educational excellence and cultural enrichment for all Ohioans.

Pattison, 43rd Governor of Ohio and the only governor from Clermont County. In addition to improvements to the Museum, the Society has expanded its historical programs and collaborative initiatives in the community; and, also broadened its scope to include Miami Township. Milford, Ohio – The Greater Milford Area Historical Society (GMAHS) and exclusive poster competition sponsor, the City of Milford, have announced the winner of the 2017 Art Affaire Poster Contest. Anne Huddleston, artist and professional graphic designer, created the winning poster using Milford’s natural resources as her inspiration. The treelined river is the focal point of the image with Promont, an 1865 Italianate house museum owned and operated by GMAHS, on the hill overlooking the valley below. The “Welcome to Milford” sign, the colorful tents representing Art Affaire and delightful critters along the river bank complete Ms. Huddleston’s design.
“I am very excited to represent the 2017 Art Affaire with my poster entry,” comments Anne Huddleston. “Art Affaire is a wonderful event, and I hope that my love for the area shines through my artwork!”
Ms. Huddleston was awarded $500 at a reception held at Promont in Milford, Ohio, on Saturday, May 13, where all poster entries were displayed. GMAHS member, Patty Craft, was the host of the reception and warmly welcomed the artists participating in the poster competition. The City of Milford, sponsor of the poster competition, was represented by Mayor Laurie Howland and City Manager Michael Doss. GMAHS members provided refreshments with elegant style similar to the teas the Society offers.
Artists that entered poster images in the competition include: June Pfaff Daley (Kennedy Heights); Marian Fisher (Liberty Township); Joyce Grothaus (Milford); Anne Huddleston (Mariemont); Mollie Sheridan (Clifton); and Robert VanPraag (Hyde Park).
“GMAHS is proud of the response to its Art Affaire poster image competition, and we are very pleased with the depth of research into local history by the artists,” says Mary Ward, GMAHS member and artist coordinator for Art Affaire. “The posters are becoming a collector’s item. It will be exciting to see how the competition evolves, as each year will bring something new for the collector.”
Signed posters suitable for framing will available for $10 at Promont, 906 Main Street, Milford (open most Sunday’s 1-4:00 p.m.); and at Row House Gallery and Custom Framing, 211 Main Street in Milford (open Tuesday-Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.). Posters will also be available during the 12th Annual Art Affaire, held on Saturday, September 23, 11:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., on Main Street in historic Milford.
