    Butter tubs, yogurt containers now accepted in Rumpke’s recycling program

    Rumpke Customers Can Now Recycle More

    Loveland, Ohio – Residents can now fill their recycling carts with even more material.

    Starting this month, customers can toss yogurt containers, fruit cups, butter tubs, sour cream tubs, cottage cheese tubs and whipped topping tubs in recycling carts with other bottles, cans, cardboard, cartons and paper. 

    In making the announcement, Steve Sargent, Rumpke’s Director of Recycling said, “As a leader in recycling, Rumpke recycles more than one billion pounds of material annually. There has been a lot of recent innovations in plastic recycling that are allowing for this expansion of our acceptable items list.”

    Like with other items accepted in Rumpke’s recycling programs, Rumpke has secured long-term contracts with stable, regional end users for this material that will convert the material into new plastic containers. 

    Rumple says that currently, 95% of collected recyclables go to domestic end users, with the vast majority destined for end users in Ohio and the Midwest.

    “Rumpke appreciates the work The Recycling Partnership is doing in terms of circularity and joining manufacturers, recycling operators and end users to develop solutions to recycle more material,” said Jeff Snyder, Rumpke recycling senior manager. 

    Also driving the change is a grant from The Recycling Partnership’s Polypropylene Recycling Coalition that is aiding Rumpke with  installation of additional recycling equipment to help better sort tubs from other recyclables and with educating customers about the new acceptable items.

    “Through the Polypropylene Recycling Coalition, we are rapidly driving meaningful, measurable change by awarding grants to Materials Recovery Facilities (MRFs) that will improve and increase the capture of polypropylene,” said Sarah Dearman, Vice President of Circular Ventures, The Recycling Partnership. “We congratulate Rumpke on their recent grant award from the Polypropylene Recycling Coalition and their quick work to get their polypropylene recycling program running and look forward to our continued partnership to encourage Ohioans to recycle more, better.”

    Loveland residents can recycle the following items:

    • Plastic bottles, jugs and tubs (butter, sour cream, cottage cheese tubs as well as yogurt and fruit and yogurt cups)
    • Cartons
    • Glass bottles and jars (any color)
    • Aluminum and steel cans
    • Paper, paper board (cereal boxes, 12-pack containers, mail, etc.) and cardboard

    All items should be clean, empty and placed in recycling containers loose to ensure they can be properly sorted and recycled. For more information on recycling, visit www.rumpke.com.

    Loveland, Ohio – Loveland’s local running store JackRabbit has joined the team at the Loveland Initiative and will be helping families that live in the Loveland City School District to receive a backpack filled with school supplies for their children when they return to school in the Fall.

    The Loveland Initiative was founded in 1996 by a group of neighbors with a mission to provide educational support and assistance to underserved children and their families. The organization focuses its attention through a wide variety of programs to help lower-income residents meet basic needs along with educational enrichment.

    Our Annual Back Pack Program gives Loveland School children the chance to start the year off with NEW Backpacks and Supplies. If you can donate a filled backpack, the children would appreciate it more than you can imagine. If you are not able to complete an entire bag by yourself, please consider sharing this project with a friend. Donations are greatly appreciated!

    Milford, Ohio – The Greater Milford Area Historical Society (GMAHS), in association with Lykins Energy Solutions, will present the 13th Annual Art Affaire – Milford’s premier art and fine craft show – on Saturday, September 22, 2018, 11 am to 5 pm. This event is free and open to the public and will be held, rain or shine, on a closed three-block section of Main Street (U.S. Route 50) in historic Milford, Ohio 45150.

    “Art Affaire is a primary fundraiser for GMAHS,” comments Donna Amann, administrator, GMAHS. “We are extremely pleased that the show continues to grow, our sponsors stay committed, and the community embraces this magnificent display of local and regional art. The Main Street venue in historic Milford is also very special, as it allows us to showcase artists as well as feature the quaint shops and cafes on the street.”  

    The 2018 Art Affaire call to artists generated a record-number of applications. “We received our largest-ever number of applications with nearly 40 percent of those from artists new to Art Affaire,” says Mary Ward, artist coordinator, Art Affaire. “We are definitely pleased with the quality and diversity of this year’s participating artists.”

    The 13th Annual Art Affaire will feature:

    • A record-breaking 120 juried local and regional artists exhibiting and selling original works in clay, digital art, drawing, fiber art, glass, jewelry, leather, metalwork, mixed media, painting, paper and print making, photography, sculpture, wearable art and wood.
    • A number of demonstrating artists, including the Ohio Valley Woodturners Guild; Wade McCarren and O’Neal Johnston, wood carving; June Ludwick, pine needle baskets; John Middick, drawing; and more.
    • A variety of strolling musical entertainment including Civil War guitarist, Steve Ball; Bear Foot with Russ and Barb Childers featuring Appalachian music and storytelling; Kevin Moran, Americana music; Lars Noble, country music; Roaring 20’s Barbershop Quartet; and Wild Carrot with American roots music.
    • Food by 20 Brix, Harvest Market, Lehr’s Prime Market, Padrino Italian and Tickled Sweet; and wine and beer from Lehr’s Prime Market. The event will feature two hospitality tents where visitors can relax and enjoy refreshments.
    • A Community Cultural Tent featuring local and regional arts-related organizations including Artsy Fartsy, Cincinnati Art Museum, Clermont Chorale, Clermont County Public Library, Historic Milford Association (HMA), Milford History Library, Milford Theatre Guilde and Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI)/UC Clermont.

    “Art Affaire continues to enhance its growing reputation,” says 2017 Art Affaire Best of Show winners and jewelry artists, Aaron Rubinstein and Haguit Rubinstein-Towler. “The 2017 show was our first participation in Art Affaire, and we were extremely pleased with the overall quality of art and the excellent event organization. We are excited to participate again in this year’s Art Affaire and look forward to seeing return customers.”

    The Greater Milford Area Historical Society, Inc. (a 501c3, non-profit) was founded in 1967 with the purpose of emphasizing the history of Milford.
