    [Photo Albums] Basketball teams look to bring home ECC Championships

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams have both started their seasons strong. Both teams are ranked in the top two of the ECC and look to bring home an ECC Championship to Loveland. Loveland has not yet won either the Men’s or Women’s Basketball Championships in the 7 years that the ECC has existed. Both teams are determined to change that this season.

    The Men’s team is at 4-0 (2-0 conference) and has impressive wins over Aiken and Kings. Leading the way for the Men’s team are Seniors, Jalen Greiser and Matthew Toigo as well as Junior, Brenton Foust. Jalen averages 17.0 points per on 50.0% shooting, 5.8 rebounds per game, and 3.5 assists per game. Matthew averages 13.3 points per game on 61.1% shooting, 5.0 rebounds per game, and 2.5 steals a game. Brenton averages 11.0 points per game on 48.4% shooting, 4.0 rebounds per game, 4.0 assists per game, and 2.8 steals per game.

    The Women’s team is 5-1 (3-1 conference) and has impressive wins over Wilmington and Kings. Leading the way for the Women’s team are Juniors, Jillian Hayes and Kate Garry. Jillian averages 17.7 points per game on 44.6% shooting and 8.3 rebounds a game. Kate averages 10.0 points per game on 38.0% shooting and 2.7 steals a game.

    Loveland grad Drew Plitt earns Ray Louthen Award at Ball State

    Loveland Graduate Drew Plitt was at Loveland High School on Wednesday to watch the Womens basketball game and his sister Marie help defeat Turpin.

    Cleveland, Ohio – Ball State Sophomore quarterback Drew Plitt came away with the Ray Louthen Award. This award, which honors the memory of the former Ball State head football coach (1962-67) and school’s athletics director (1970-81), is bestowed upon the team’s most improved player(s).

    Plitt was thrust into the team’s starting quarterback role in late October after an injury sidelined Riley Neal for the rest of the season. Plitt, a native of Loveland, Ohio, threw for a career-high 340 yards and a touchdown at Toledo on Oct. 31. He then led the Cardinals to an exciting 42-41 overtime win over Western Michigan on Nov. 13. Plitt was named MAC West Offensive Player of the Week after that win thanks to tossing three touchdown passes and completing 80.8 percent (21-of-26) of his pass attempts versus WMU.

    Loveland, Ohio – This week’s Loveland winter sports preview will be on the Loveland Womens Basketball team. The team comes off of their best season in program history last year where they went 18-5 (10-4 conference).

    Senior Jillian Hayes averaged 15.7 points per game last year.

    Leading Loveland are Senior Marie Plitt, and Juniors Jillian Hayes and Kate Garry.

    Hayes was named First Team all ECC last year while Garry was named Second Team all ECC. Hayes averaged 15.7 points per game, 8.6 rebounds per game, 3.3 steals per game, and 1.4 blocks per game last season. Garry who who recently committed to Akron, averaged 9.1 points per game, 1.3 assists per game and 1.1 steals per game last season. Plitt who is committed to play Volleyball at Ball State averaged 6.8 points per game, 5.5 rebounds per game, and 1.7 steals per game her sophomore year. Plitt missed almost all of last season with an injury and hopes to have a bounce back year.

    Loveland looks to start the season off right when they open up against Wilmington at Lakota West on Sunday, November 25th at 10 AM.

    Offensive Player of the Week:  Ball State QB Drew Plitt

    Ball State sophomore quarterback Drew Plitt (Loveland, Ohio) threw a career-high three touchdown passes on 21-26 passing for 258 yards in a 42-41 (OT) win over Western Michigan on Nov. 13.  Plitt made his second start this season and completed 80.8 percent of his passes (21-of-26), the highest percentage by a Ball State starting quarterback since Keith Wenning completed 81.8 percent (27-of-33) of his passes against Miami (Ohio) on Nov. 29, 2013.  He notched a personal-best 22-yard run in the fourth quarter to set up a touchdown and threw a 2-yard touchdown pass in overtime to give the Cardinals a 42-35 lead.     2017 (R-Fr.): Started the season as the team’s No. 4 quarterback … forced into action the final five games, with three starts, due to injuries at the quarterback position … made his collegiate debut in relief during the Toledo game on Oct. 26 … scored on a four-yard touchdown run in the third quarter against the Rockets … earned his first collegiate start at Eastern Michigan on Nov. 2 … threw for a season-high 169 yards and two touchdowns at EMU … led the Cardinals on a touchdown drive on their second possession at Northern Illinois on Nov. 9.

    2016 (Fr.): Took a redshirt season.

    HIGH SCHOOL: Earned three letters from coach Fred Cranford at Loveland High … team captain and honorable mention all-district as a senior … helped the Tigers win the 2013 state title … owns the school record for career passing touchdowns (42) … completed nearly 60 percent of his passes for more than 1,400 yards and 15 scores as a senior … also ran for three touchdowns in 2015 … two-time all-conference pick … team captain and MVP for the basketball team as well … first team all-conference as a junior … a member of the National Honor Society.

    PERSONAL: Son of Steve and Julie Plitt … born Jan. 9, 1998 … one sister and one brother … full name is Steven Andrew Plitt.

    Loveland, Ohio – The Winter Sports season is upon us and the Loveland Men’s Basketball team is looking forward to their upcoming season..

    The Loveland Men’s Basketball team is Coached by Rob Reis. Coach Reis is in his fourth year of coaching at Loveland and holds a 29-41 record over his first three years, including a playoff win over Amelia. After a 5-18 season last year, Loveland looks to get back on track this season.

    Loveland is led by Seniors, Jalen Greiser and Matthew Toigo. Jalen was named First team all ECC last season and averaged 13.5 points per game, 5.1 rebounds a game (1.3 offensive) and  2.4 assists per game. Matthew was named Honorable Mention

    all ECC last season and averaged 9.5 points per game and 2.3 rebounds a game. Also look for Senior Tripp Willis and Junior Alec Soth to have big impacts this season. Tripp was named Second Team all ECC last season and averaged 8.0 points per game, and 4.3 rebounds a game. Alec averaged 4.6 points per game last year and 2.2 rebounds a game.

    Loveland, Ohio – Loveland High School’s Student Council hosts a fundraiser every year. This year’s charity game was for A Kid Again. Students participated in a dodgeball tournament to raise $3,000.
    Meghan Lolli, Eleanor Cronin, and Jordan Morrison were recognized at half-time of the varsity football game against Miamisburg on September 7.

    Leading the way for Loveland is Senior, Brooke Harden, who has 8 goals and 8 assists in 13 games.

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland Womens Soccer team sits at 10-0-3 (5-0-1 conference) and has a big game coming up on October 9th at Turpin. Turpin sits at 5-1 in conference and 6-6-0 overall. Leading the way for Loveland is Senior, Brooke Harden, who has 8 goals and 8 assists in 13 games. Another strong leader for Loveland is Junior, Kaitlyn Andrews, who has 3 goals and 7 assists in 13 games. Loveland plays at home against Mount Norte Dame on Saturday October 6th at 7 PM.

    The Loveland Mens Soccer team sits at 9-4 (4-1 conference). Loveland is a half game behind Turpin in conference and looks to take over the conference lead when they play Turpin on October 11th at 7 PM. Leading the way for Loveland is Senior, Aiden Kopek, who has 7 goals and 2 assists in 7 games this season. Loveland is Sophomore, Helga Harris, another leader, has 8 goals in 7 games played. Loveland plays at West Clermont tomorrow night (October 4th) at 7:00 PM.

    The Loveland Womens Tennis team sits at 13-3 (5-1 conference). Loveland had a strong showing at the ECC Conference Championships taking second with 33 points. Loveland Senior, Peyton Beller, leads the way with a 13-6 overall (5-1 conference) record. Peyton was awarded the 3rd seed in the Cincinnati Sectional for her strong play this season. Peyton will start her postseason taking on Eichorn of Oak Hills. Loveland Junior, Anna Svitkovich, also a leader, sits at 11-6 (5-1 conference) on the season. Anna was awarded the 4th seed in the Cincinnati Sectional and will start off against Ramirez of Harrison. Loveland has their Sectionals Tomorrow (October 4th) at the Lindner Family Tennis Center at 8:30 AM.

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland Womens Golf team had a strong showing this past week at the ECC Championships taking 2nd in the Conference finisher. In the Preseason Tournament Loveland took 4th (395) behind Kings (341), Milford (351), and Turpin (378). This time around Loveland took 2nd (360) only behind Kings (343). Loveland was led by Silver Medalist Samantha Skarda (84) and Bronze Medalist Allison Rountree (85). Also for Loveland Erin Dickman shot a 95, Alex Vanderhorst shot a 96 and Kali Egan shot a 109. Their next match is tomorrow, (9/25) at Turpin at Terrace Park Country Club at 4 PM.

    The Loveland Womens Volleyball team also had a great week beating Anderson (3-0) and West Clermont (3-0). The team sits at 13-1 (8-0 conference) and is currently ranked #17 in the state. Loveland is led by Seniors Marie Plitt and Ashley McDonald. Plitt has 129 Kills, 158 Diggs and 35 blocks on the season. McDonald has 161 Kills, 129 Diggs and 13 blocks on the season. McDonald was named Novacare Player of the game in Loveland’s win over Anderson.  During the game she had 9 Kills and 3 Diggs. Loveland’s next game is Tuesday night (9/25) at 7 PM at Kings.

    Symmes Township, Ohio – On September 1st Loveland held its first cross country invitational meet in four years. The event took place at the Home of the Brave Park in Symmes Township and was coordinated by Jim and Cindy Daumeyer. As a member of the cross country team myself, I would like to say thank you to the Daumeyers for their hard work and for bringing back a home invitational to Loveland.

    The Loveland Cross Country teams completed a sweep of all Middle School and High School events. The Loveland High School men were led by Greg Ballman who placed 1st with a time of 16:39. Loveland took three of the top five spots on the 3.2 mile course, with Ryan Chevalier coming in 3rd with a time of 17:27 and Matt Huether coming in 5th with a time of 17:55.

    The Loveland High School women were led by Jessie Gibbins who placed 1st with a time of 19:33 on the 3.2 mile course. Loveland put all 7 of their runners in the top 15. Ellie Carr placed 3rd with a time of 20:12 and Maaike Snider placed 4th with a time of 20:21.

    For the Middle School women, Ellie Zicka and Allison Colegate led the way running 13:16 and 13:25, placing 2nd and 3rd respectively on the 2 mile course.

    For the Middle School men, Brady Steiner and William Mansfield led the way running 12:02 and 12:15, placing 1st and 3rd respectively on the 2 mile course.
