Loveland, Ohio – Seniors Lillianne Rohling and Sophia Stokes were recently honored with a Gold Key Scholastic Art Award. The two attend Loveland High School and competed in the Southern Ohio, Northern Kentucky, and Southeastern Indiana Art Region.
Lillianne Rohling’s mixed media work “Empty” and the painting “Touch” by Sophia Stokes will be eligible to compete for national honors in New York City.
Loveland High School students Lauren Hents, Ruthie Timman and Zak Griffiths were also honored with the Silver Key in the Scholastic Writing Awards.
In addition, Rohling was recognized for her art portfolio “On Earth.” The works of all the southwest regional winners can be viewed in a virtual exhibition hosted by the Art Academy of Cincinnati here.
The Scholastic Art Awards is a 97-year-old national art competition that lets students compete with others in their region and then with other students nationally. The program fosters creativity and provides a platform for young people to gain recognition and compete for scholarship funds.
Loveland, Ohio – The following Loveland High School (LHS) students have earned prestigious awards and recognition by the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for their 2019 Visual Arts entries:
Seniors Isabella Huelsman won aGold Key (Photography), two Silver Keys (Photography) and two Honorable Mentions (Ceramics and Mixed-Media); Jillian Sealschott earned aSilver Key (Drawing); Joe Timmerman earnedan Honorable Mention (Photography); Leslie Nash earned a Silver Key (Ceramics); and Samuel Richardson won one Gold Key (Photography) and three Silver Keys (Photography, Digital Art, Film & Animation).
Juniors Olivia Bransford earned two Silver Keys (Painting); Tristan Dumas earned a Silver Key (Photography); and Hannah Powers earned two Silver Keys (Painting) and one Honorable Mention (Painting).
Sophomores Lillianne Rohling earned aGold Key (Drawing & Illustration) and Sophia Stokes earned an Honorable Mention (Sculpture).
LHS students also made an impressive contribution in the 2019 Creative Writing competition: Senior Anna Ross earned a Scholastic Writing Awards Silver Key and two Honorable Mentions; Junior Vivien Terselic earned a Scholastic Gold Key, Silver Key, and Honorable Mention; Junior Kieran Collins earned a Scholastic Silver Key and has been named as an Overture Awards Semi-Finalist; and Senior Zach Segal has been named as an Overture Awards Semi-Finalist.
“Elastic Lines” by Senior Isabella Huelsman won a Gold Key for photography.
Gold Key award-winning works, both in the Visual Arts and Creative Writing categories, are considered the very best submitted locally and automatically move on to compete at the national level.
