Loveland, Ohio – Loveland High School students in the Tigers Inc. program went to New York City recently. They visited the New York Stock Exchange, Procter & Gamble, and more. Teacher Craig Murnan designed the learning opportunity for the students.

Tigers Inc. is a student-led non-profit organization run by a selective group of business-oriented student leaders at Loveland High School. We are redefining the classroom setting by giving students non-traditional exposure to the business world. Here is the list of vendors and non-profit organizations that will be attending the Sip and Shop

Loveland, Ohio – “I am super excited about this sip and shop and I know it will be a great event to support Loveland Schools and these small businesses,” said Loveland High School Senior Kate Krabacher.
Kate is a student at Loveland High School and is a member of Tigers Inc. Kate said that she and Tigers Inc are excited to be co-hosting the “Sip and Shop: Mother’s Day Edition” with Lemons and Limes Boutique owner, Wendy Knight. The event will be on April 22nd from 11 AM until 4 PM at the Landing Event Center on the bank of the Scenic Little Miami River in Historic Downtown.
Lemons and Limes is a local small business boutique with locations in Loveland and Mason. Tigers Inc is a nonprofit organization run by a selective group of business-oriented student leaders at Loveland High School.
Kate is also an intern at Lemons and Limes and Wendy said she has been in charge, from “start to finish” of the planning for the Mother’s Day event from day one. Kate reached out to business vendors in the area and persuaded them to be involved, and purchase a space at this event. Wendy said that one of the most important things she wants the community to know is that this is “truly a student led event”
The venue will be set up as a small business market and each vendor will have their own space for a pop-up shop or display.
Last year the event was run by an employee at the Landing Event Center, but she is no longer there, so Tigers Inc took on the responsibility of organizing the event with Wendy at Lemons and Limes.
Kate said that it was a great success last year for all vendors and they are hoping to grow the attendance, even more, this year.
Besides supporting Tigers Inc, this year, the event is supporting a Loveland Elementary School Capital Campaign to fund new tables for the LES cafeteria.
Wendy said that shopping at the Sip and Shop is an excellent opportunity to support local small businesses by buying Mother’s Day gifts, birthday presents, something for yourself, or a graduation gift. She said there will be many items to buy for men and boys as well.
There will be a map provided to attendees that will encourage shoppers to visit the other shops in Historic Downtown and Wendy encourages shoppers to buy a meal at a local restaurant.
The fashion show will feature local “elite celebrity” models you will recognize, teachers, school administrators, and local moms and students. Most of the fashions come from the selection of clothing and accessories found at Lemons and Limes.

Loveland, Ohio – “We see this as a great time for each one of us to make our own impact on these businesses and strengthening our Loveland bond as a whole,” explained Loveland High School 11th grader, Emily Ryan. “This will serve as not only an opportunity for the businesses to rally support, but also give back as a whole to our area while doing so.”
Emily is part of the marketing cohort of Tigers Inc. is a nonprofit run by a selective group of business-orientated student leaders at Loveland High working to gain real-world experience in the local community.
They have organized a “Back Our Businesses” event that will launch on March 1st and run until March 7. They want to get the community to gather and grow during the hardships of COVID, especially in collaboration with small businesses in Loveland such as the Loveland Sweet Shoppe, RP Diamond, and Paxton’s Grill.
Emily said it is important to promote our local businesses during the weekdays, “as this is what has hit our Loveland shops and restaurants the hardest.” Back Our Businesses will be an opportunity to get the community to come out to eat, shop, and support Loveland. So far, the student-led team of six has individually met with thirty Loveland small businesses to involve them with the weeklong event and personally tailor marketing strategies for them. They will promote each business in a specific way and to their needs, in an attempt to boost their attendance and sales.
In addition, Tigers Inc. has also begun partnering with some businesses and various nonprofits in the Cincinnati area. “This will serve as not only an opportunity for the businesses to rally support, but also give back as a whole to our area while doing so, said Emily. This partnership comes with a set donation or a percentage of their earnings from the week to be donated to their partnered nonprofit.

Loveland, Ohio – Students across Ohio have felt and continue to feel the effects of the COVID-19 pandemic. With the remainder of the school year canceled as well as graduation and all the fun events that go along with it, many students did not get the opportunity to be a part of their Annual Senior Night missing out on receiving Senior Awards and Scholarships.
Steve and Connie Mitchell could not bear the thought of not giving out the annual 2020 Seth Mitchell Scholarships to the LHS Senior applicants so they decided to give the scholarships away virtually! The Mitchells usually make an annual visit into town to personally hand out the scholarships on the Senior Award Night.
Connie and Steve’s, son and decorated war hero, LHS graduate, Captain Seth Mitchell was killed on October 26th, 2009 at age 30 when two helicopters collided while he was supporting combat operations in Afghanistan’s Helmand province. At the time of tragedy, Captain Mitchell was stationed at Camp Pendleton, CA, and was part of the Marine Corp HMLA 367 Scarface unit. Captain Mitchell piloted an AH-1 Super Cobra helicopter.
Seth volunteered for the fatal mission.

In memory of Captain Mitchell both, his family and friends not only hold “The Seth Mitchell Hero 5k” in Downtown Historic Loveland every year, but they also give away “Seth Mitchell” scholarships to two well accomplished LHS Seniors. Below is Steve and Connie Mitchell’s explanation of how the scholarship recipients were selected this year.
“As you probably guessed we were unable to do personal on-site interviews with our 2020 Seth Mitchell scholarship applicants. However, we summoned help from some younger folks and proceeded with the interviews through Google Hangout,” the Mitchell’s explained, “Yep, Steve and Connie on Google Hangout. Who’d of thought that? Loveland High School also did not have their annual Senior Night on May 13, so the scholarships were awarded virtually. We had 18 applicants this year and personally interviewed six before awarding two scholarships. Your scholarship committee consisting of Greg Carpinello, Damien Cook, Mollie Schrichten, Marisa Sobb, (all friends of Seth and ’97 LHS graduates) Connie and I, take seriously the process to recruit, interview and select candidates. All the kids were deserving and we are especially proud of the recipients.”
The $3,500 Let Us Never Forget Seth Mitchell Scholarship was founded by the Mitchell Family and the “Let Us Never Forget Scholarship Foundation.”
The scholarships are funded by the Seth Mitchell Hero 5K, in which both Seth’s friends and family run, in memory of Seth every year.
This year the 2020 “virtual” Let Us Never Forget Seth Mitchell Scholarships went to Jordan Collins and Caroline Ginder! Below are the biographies for both scholarship winners provided by the Mitchell’s.

Jordan Collins is the 2020 scholarship recipient and she has a spirit similar to Seth.
She was and still is involved in many theatrical and musical productions. She is a National Honor Society member, volunteers through Mom’s Hope, and works part-time.
Jordan will be paying a large part of her college costs.
She has a “do something” attitude, a strong work ethic, and knows no stranger, being kind to all. She is not afraid to fail in the pursuit of her dreams and is strong in the face of adversity.
She hopes to pursue her theatrical dreams at Syracuse University.

Caroline Ginder is also a 2020 recipient of the Memorial Scholarship. Caroline was described by one of her references as “being self-motivated, goal-oriented, and a fine example of caring more about her teammates rather than herself.”
She participated in many school events such as Tiger’s Inc., LHS Women’s Soccer, NEST, and National Honor Society.
Caroline will be attending Ohio State University where she will pursue medicine. She hopes to someday be a part of Doctors Without Borders.
Like Jordan, Caroline is paying a share of her college costs as well.

Loveland, Ohio – “It was every bit of what Mr. LaRose expressed in that tweet,” said Craig Murnan, business teacher at Loveland High. “The students led a presentation about their business venture, received their Ohio nonprofit status and made sure to become registered voters while they were in the office. They are very much leaders by example and I couldn’t be more pleased with how they prepared for and carried out their meeting with the Secretary.”
The students in Mr. Murnan’s class Tigers Inc. at Loveland High School (LHS) had the opportunity to meet with and present to Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose on January 9. Following their meeting, LaRose tweeted “High School students here in Ohio taking advantage of the easy process to start a business…Thanks for filing with our office and stopping by to talk about your new LHS Tigers Inc. nonprofit… And of course, every student left our office a registered voter!”
Tigers Inc. was launched last fall as one component in the district’s effort to expand programming and courses at Loveland High School. Mr. Murnan, who worked for Ernst & Young LLP in the audit and financial consulting field, but changed career paths and became an educator.
The class motto is “Learning by experience, from experience”.
As an Ohio nonprofit, Tigers Inc. will strive to collaborate with the community and partner with professionals to find tangible solutions to problems, all the while, the students are given the opportunity to network and advance their business acumen.
The students gave a presentation to Ohio Secretary of State Frank LaRose.
Currently Tigers Inc. is the umbrella organization for three separate “cohorts”: Marketing, Strategic Project Management, and Wealth Management. More cohorts are being considered as additions. Running Tigers Inc. like an actual, traditional business allows students to apply their developing knowledge and skills across a range of areas. For example, the students have created a website (https://www.tigersinc.org/), established bylaws, appointed a board of directors, created fundraising strategies and much more. Last year, students in the wealth management cohort placed 1st and 7th in the National Stock Market Challenge by Personal Finance Lab.
“The project-based learning component is what makes this such a compelling program for the students,” said Murnan. “It’s a real-world focused class, where we work with real-world business people, who step up to mentor and guide these students forward to gain the skills they need once they leave high school and college.”
