    [Photo Albums] Tiger basketball claims 2nd in ECC after easy win over Anderson

    CORRECTION: The game against Kings Thursday, January 26 is at Kings High School.

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland Women (10-3, 14-4) climbed into second place in the ECC after their Senior Night victory over Anderson Monday, 47-34.

    Behind the Tigers is Kings (10-3, 13-5). The Tigers beat Kings 46-45 in overtime on December 12 and the rivalry rekindles this Thursday when the Knights come to Loveland for a showdown at 7:30 PM. (CORRECTION: The game against Kings Thursday, January 26 is at Kings High School.)

    Loveland is on a 7-game win streak. They beat Lebanon on the road 38-33 last Thursday and defeated Indian Hills in the Braves’ gym 46-30 last Wednesday.

    Loveland’s Freshman Katy Wilber drained five threes in the first half at Indian Hill and finished with two more in the second to lead all scorers with 21. Olivia Raby scored 11.

    Josie Early led all scorers in her Senior Night performance with 15, she pulled down 6 rebounds and collected 5 steals.

    The Tigers have a non-conference home game at 2 PM this Saturday against Springboro and travel to West Clermont on Monday, January 30. Undefeated West Clermont (13-19, 19-0) stands in the Tiger’s way of winning the conference. The Wolves are rated the #4 team in Ohio. The Tigers came within 6 of beating West Clermont on December 15. It was one of West Clermont’s closest games.

    ECC Championship hosted by Loveland XC on Saturday

    Symmes Township, Ohio – The Loveland High and Middle Schools are hosting the Eastern Cincinnati Conference (ECC) championship meet this Saturday at Home of the Brave park. 

    As of last Thursday, the LHS women’s team was still ranked #1 in Ohio and the Men’s team was ranked #5.

    High school runners will compete on a 5K course and the Middle school runners compete on a 2-mile course.

    It is also Senior Day for our high school seniors.

    This is a once in a lifetime chance to see these State ranked student athletes and cheer them to the finish line.

    It’s Loveland vs. St. X in State Tournament on Saturday at 8 PM at Lakota West

    The Loveland Tigers (5-17, 3-11 conf) match up against the St. Xavier Bombers (15-7, 2-4 conf) in a winner take all game. Loveland looks to end their 9 game losing streak, while getting a big time win versus St. Xavier. St. Xavier looks to make a big tournament run and hopes to start off with a convincing win.

    Sophomore Guard Brenton Foust had 14 points on 5 of 5 shooting (2 of 2 from 3) as well as 3 assists recently against West Clermont.

    St Xavier lost to West Clermont by 3 (51 to 48) earlier in the season and Loveland just lost to West Clermont by 6 (61 to 55).

     

    In Loveland’s last game Sophomore Guard Brenton Foust had 14 points on 5 of 5 shooting (2 of 2 from 3) as well as 3 assists. In St Xavier’s last game Junior Guard Nathan Stockman had 13 points on 5 of 12 shooting (0 of 1 from 3). Nathan also had 7 rebounds (3 offensive) and 3 assists.

    For Loveland look for Junior Guard Jalen Greiser who averages 13.5 points per game on 40.2% shooting (37.0% from 3). Jalen also averages 5.2 rebounds (1.4 offensive) and 2.6 assists per game. For Loveland also look for Junior Guard Matthew Toigo who averages 9.5 points per game on 51.0% shooting (42.2% from 3). Matthew also averages 2.3 rebounds a game (1.0 offensive).

    Forward Jillian Hayes averages 15.6 points per game on 46.9% shooting for the Tigers

    The Loveland Tigers (18-4, 10-4 conf) match up against the West Clermont Wolves (16-7, 11-3 conf) in a winner take all State tournament game on Thursday. Game time is 6 PM at Sycamore High School.

    In the first game Loveland got the best of West Clermont with a 68 to 67 win at home. In the second game West Clermont got the better of Loveland with a score of 65 to 55.

    In the second game West Clermont out shot the tigers shooting 54.8% to Loveland’s 42.2%. For Loveland Sophomore Forward Jillian Hayes had 26 points on 8 of 16 shooting (10-13 from the line). Jillian also had 15 rebounds ( 8 offensive) in that game. For West Clermont Senior Guard Jasmine Hale had 15 points on 6 of 9 shooting.

    To get to this second round tournament game West Clermont beat Hamilton 72 to 34. For West Clermont Senior Guard Jasmine Hale had 15 points on 6 of 13 shooting (1 of 4 from 3). Jasmine also had 9 rebounds (7 offensive), 3 steals, and 3 assists. This game is the tie breaker of the series and serves as a winner take all game.

    Loveland, Ohio – After a first-round bye, the Loveland Women will enter the State basketball tournament on February 22 with a #4 seed to face ECC opponent and #7 seed, West Clermont. The game is at Sycamore High School at 6 PM.

    Walnut Hills finished on top of the conference with a perfect record of 14-0 (22-1). West Clermont finished second with a record of 11-3 (16 – 7). Loveland rounded out the top three with a record of 10-4 (18 – 4).

    The Tigers lost two games to Walnut Hills and a game against fourth-place finisher, Kings. Loveland defeated West Clermont on January 6, 68-67 and lost to them on February 10, 65-55.

    In their first game of the tournament, West Clermont easily handled Hamilton 72-34, which advanced them to the Loveland game.

    The Loveland Tigers match up against the Wolves of West Clermont in a meaningful conference game tonight. For Loveland ( 5-16, 3-10 conf) this game could jump start some momentum going into the postseason. For West Clermont (14-6, 8-5 conf) this game could boost their standings in the ECC as the Wolves from West Clermont are even in the standings with the Milford Eagles.

    For the second straight night Loveland matches up against West Clermont, this time at West Clermont.

    Last night’s game resulted in a 60 to 39 win for West Clermont with West Clermont shooting 52.4% from the field and Loveland shooting 26.0% from the field.




    Jalen Greiser lead the way for the Tigers last night with 11 points on 2 of 9 shooting (5-6 from the line).

West Clermont Sophomore Center Jackson Ames (6’9) had 9 rebounds in last night’s game. For Loveland Juniors Jalen Greiser and Tripp Willis both had 5 rebounds in last night’s game.

For Loveland look for Junior Guard Matt Toigo who averages 9.4 points per game on 51.4% shooting (44.0% from 3).     The Walnut Hills showdown comes on Wednesday night at 7:30 PM in the Eagles gym.

    Loveland, Ohio – The Loveland Women defeated Little Miami in the Tiger gym on January 29, 54-46. They added to their victory streak in an away game on the 31st by defeating Turpin 56-47 and a 42-23 victory over Anderson on their Senior Day game.

    Now, 17 – 2 (10 – 2), the Loveland Women remain in second place in the ECC.

    Walnut Hills continues to top the conference at 19 – 1 (12 – 0) and West Clermont is in 3rd, 13 – 7 (9 – 3). Walnut is #4 and Loveland #6 in the Cincinnati Coaches Poll. West Clermont is #7. Loveland travels to West Clermont on Saturday, February on February 10 at 6 PM.

    The Walnut Hills showdown comes on Wednesday night at 7:30 PM in the Eagles gym. The Tigers were defeated in their ECC first go-around with Walnut Hills on January 3, by 26 points, 66 – 40.
